The PC Building Thread

I would only suggest a 5870 from eBay for your budget.
It is a shame you missed the graphics card as it was an absolute bargain price.

No worries.

Ill think ill order one from overclockers - can get one good enough for PES ready built for about £580 when I take Windows off.

I only need it for pes really and as long as it plays that for a few years then that's ok with me.

What you suggested looks amazing but I dont think I need all that.

Thanks for your help

You won't need it now, but if you want to play pes max settings with mods you won't be able to on a £600 overclockers machine and you certainly won't be able to play pes when machines go next gen.

As I am sure for £600 they are only supplying a 6770.

But it seems your not confident building yourself so are unfortunately stuck with an average machine for a £600 budget.

@Steelhorse75

Let me help you with this overclockers uk configuration with such a limited option :P

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-213-OE&groupid=43&catid=2040&subcat=1892

It is around 100-120 more compared to a base system you choose before after take out the windows and put msi gt 6850 OC 1 gb in.

However the reason i choose this is :
1. i5 2500k + z77 motherboard (also compatible intel's new sandy bridge cpu) however this i5 2500k is already damn fast. i mean faaaast. :SMUG: )
2. Good PC case
3. Added better cpu cooler (since, this config should come with overclocked condition.

They are much better available option for your today's need and future proof.

Have a look.

I priced one up on overclockers comes to £763 for roughly the same spec as I done for you.
The only difference is with my build you got the new ivy bridge and not the old sandy bridge.

It is because of sites like that I always thought about building and selling desktops myself on the side, but I couldnt be arsed with the support side of it if something goes wrong.
If you can wait steel I could build your PC for you if you get the parts and pay for the courier to get it delivered to yourself.
But you would have to wait a week as I fly to Zante today.

@ Steelhorse - you said there is a person you work with that can help you build a PC. Is this still the case?

Take him up on the offer, order the build bsmaff suggested, and you'll end up with a much better PC that's more future proof and hence better value for money.

Hi
Just watched a video on youtube on how to put a PC together and it seems easy-ish enough.
One question - In the video he connects things with leads etc. Do I get those leads etc with the componants i ordered or do I have to get those separate?

SATA cables will be included with the motherboard. All the power connections you need will be with the psu (hard wired into the psu if it's non-modular) and case fans have connectors hard-wired into them. The case will include all the leads for the power button, power light, usbs etc....

Everything you need should be there.

Hey SteelHorse. You will have no problems putting a PC together yourself. Really you wont man.

Only on my latest PC build did I need help but that was because of the sheer size of my CPU Cooler! I wanted help easing everything into my case.

Thanks.

How easy is it to patch PES using someone like Jenkys? Is it a case of downloading files and putting them in the PES file?

thanks for your help.

The hardest things to connect IMO and the things where you have to be very careful and take your time is the little cables that are for power switch, power LED, HDD LED etc. etc. get it wrong which is easy to do and the PC won't turn on!

Yes they are a bit fiddly but the motherboard should be clearly marked with what goes where and, of course, read the manual and it's fine. The connections are tiny though.

Yep the connections are tiny and the labels on the mobo are always tiny, fine if you've done it a few times yourself but there first time can be daunting.

Yep that really annoyed me no end, not the least because my Mobo had been revised from the manual so it took me ages to figure out I had to remove some caps, quite daunting removing a piece from a motherboard you just bought without knowing if its completely correct.

Listen to this guy.

On a different note, I'm thinking of picking up a cheap sound card such as the ASUS Xonar DG for around £25.

I have a pair of Turtle Beach DPX21's sitting dormant since I largely gave up console gaming and I fancy using them with my PC. I don't think the onboard audio of the motherboard will be any good for these. Better to get a dedicated sound card I guess?

Then I can switch between the sound card for headphones and the GPU for 5.1 (to the amp via HDMI) within Windows and leave an optical cable permanently connected to the back of the PC for the Turtle Beaches.
