The PC Building Thread

Well I downloaded the Windows 7 with SP1 64 bit ISO and it has installed fine first time! I guess this means there may be a small scratch on my Windows 7 OEM disc...

There isn't that much wrong with windows 8.
It takes ages to get used too but it is really quick as they have striped out so much crap, you just need ages to get used to the crappy metro. After a while though it does start to grow a little in you, have to wait though till the 15th though before I get given my license keys of technet to give it a good go.

Reading all the posts makes me just wish I had enough money to buy myself a sweet super rig. I've always wanted one but never got the chance to :(

I can feel it lami.. :P though, I am moving away from this gaming desktop and stuff.. i did not really has much time with this today's gaming.. downgrade to a notebook that fit my purpose for work and at least PES/FIFA yeah.. PES/FIFA just for fun.. the desire for this high end desktop and general gaming stuff is decreasing.. and missus is happy for this trend :APPLAUD::TTTH:

its been a jump ive made twice now really without realising.

Making the switch when the consoles are in their 'last' cycle to PC, I did it with the PS2 when PES4 came out and I did late last year also.

I'll definitely be 'forced' to get the next line of consoles simply because of exclusives.

Are u gaming on pc now? If so. Wanna join my club for fifa 13? We are top dogs and would love to see u play for us

I only play Pes (90% of the time) and MW (10% of the time) so I'm thinking a pc would be great for me as I can really mod Pes. Plus I never play online.
If I played 100s of games I'd stick to consoles.

That should be the complete opposite if you play 100s of games you should own a PC, you would save a fortune on the cost of gaming + they would be much better organised in a STEAM account.
I can switch games and load them a hundred times quicker than console, but then I have always been anti-console as why would anyone want to play games on something that is graphically inferior, takes ages to load and in the case of the early 360's have a jet engine in your front room.
I hate using my PS3 feels like an eternity turning it on and waiting for the menu to come on and then inserting a disk and waiting for it to start loading.

Here is a system build from Aria.co.uk

Ok so I'm probably gonna order this at some point this week.
This is all I need for PC gaming? no hidden costs? The wife ain't to happy but as long as their ain't add ons and extras I don't know about I've managed to swing it. Just!

I just need to add Keyboard, windows and anti virus? ( which I can get from work I would think.)
I can also link this up to my 50" 3Dtv via HDMI so no need for a monitor.

If I'm wrong please let me know
Thanks.

Why don't you get an SSD and use the 1TB drive for secondary storage? Your PC will be so much more responsive with an SSD.

Yep, one of the best upgrades to any PC. For an extra £60 or so, it's definitely money well spent.

You don't need ms xbox 360 controller ? :P there is work around with ps3 controller though if you already have one..

anyway, enjoy your new gaming pc steelhorse :)) nice configuration

Yes, please ask about Motioninjoy and bluetooth if you're gonna cheap out on a controller... hah! PES with a keyboard...

I have a 360 controller thanks.
Can I swap 1tb for SSd? I don't need massive storage. If I could can someone recommend me one from the Aria.co.uk site? Thanks.

I bought the Kingston HyperX 3k (SATA III version) but I had a friend who bought the SATA II version and his died in a week. So I would stay away from Kingston drives.

The OCZ Vertex 4s are more reliable than the vertex 3 series, from what I've heard. I bought a Vertex 3 and it died after 4 months of heavy use.

You will need a keyboard and mouse but get a half decent Microsoft keyboard and mouse if you can best quality money wise.

Do you need Windows?

I would order the RAM I posted above before the deal ends at midnight tonight and save yourself a quick £13.

I will update your machine order tomorrow when I am at work to save you some more cash and add an SSD.

Also with free Anitvirus MSE is the best

Ok cheers. Thanks.

I do need windows but my mate has a copy he said I can have.

If your missus is busting your balls over the budget then skip the SSD. Yes, they are a fantastic upgrade but far from essential. With the rate prices are falling you could always slip one under the radar in the coming months. The 64gb SSDs will probably be £30-40 by Christmas and you can add one to your system at very little hassle.

Also, if you're looking to trim the budget then possibly look for deals on 500gb HDDs. If it's purely a gaming rig you'll probably never fill it. I'm getting by on a crappy 160gb drive at the moment!!!

As for the OS, a free trial of Windows 8 is always an option.
