The Movies Thread

Babylon A.D.

7.5/10 - really enjoyed this film, lots of depth and scale to the surroundings, a very convincing portrayal of the future. Vin Diesel was also quite good in it which I totally didn't expect.

The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas - 9/10

Brilliant, but so sad. I believe the book is a superb read but the film has tons of emotion and definately gets you. If you liked Schindler's List, you should watch this.

Bourne 4 Gets Writer

Plans to make the franchise a quadrilogy seemed hazy, but are now picking up pace, with the instatement of The Bourne Ultimatum co-writer George Nolfi to pen another outing for the character.

Although based on the original concept from the Robert Ludlum books, the fourth instalment will follow an original story. Director Paul Greengrass and star Matt Damon will return, and the movie will be produced by Frank Marshall.

Back in March, Damon admitted: “we’re all for doing a fourth movie but it means coming up with a good story." And Greengrass added on the franchise: " We love it, but none of us would want to go again unless we’re sure there’s a worthwhile film.".

So it seems, that with Nolfi with pen in hand, and the fact that the last film raked in more than $440 million worldwide, Bourne 4 is now a sure thing.

The worlds greatest movie magazine.

If u guys loved City of God(rate: 8.5/10), u MUST wacth "The Elite Squad"(rate:9/10) (Tropa de Elite)
its also a movie about brazilian slums and all...but its problaby the best brazilian movie ever imho...

Btw, i wacthed Cloverfield(rate: 8.5/10), great movie, i thought the storyline was jsut over the top, but the amature camera touch gives u so much reality feeling that u really start thingk that all that shit is possible! lol
anyone knows if there will be a sequel for that movie?

I think City of God piss all over Tropa the Elite, best storyline, original funnier and "ousado" how do I say that anyway.

Cloverfield is awesome, it got everything I expected. Not too pretentious just what we want from a monster movie, impossible things, face to face with the monster, people exploding...
Should I spoiler it? I think everybody saw it right now, if you didn't, go see it ffs.
Rumors says there will be a sequel from another perspective of that day, but Mr. Abrams say he did not wanted to do it. But that was a long time ago, I dunno how is it right now.

I watched Get Smart and The Strangers over the weekend

Get Smart is worth a watch, Steve Carrel is always good for a laugh and the Strangers is a bit poo and predictable

Trainspotting - 10/10.

The Machinist - 10/10.

These two made me feel even shittier about my life. Might watch Requiem For A Dream just to get myself really fucked. I can't even speak English anymore.

Decent enough film, worth a watch.

Serenity

9(even a 10)/10

Absolutely loved it. As a fan of the TV series, this film had humor, action, nice CGI and sadness. Great plot too. I wish there was more Firefly/Serenity. This film was so complete and imo did the series justice.

I can't believe Walsh died!!!!!!!!!!! It would've been great if Inora and the captain finally got together too

I watched it in Uni also, I like the interesting camera angles and techniques but for the most part it was boring.

Quantam of Solace is one day away, looking forward to it.

I'm looking forward to hating Quantum of Solace whilst everyone around me likes it.

I can already see terrible looking things in the trailer.

Damn being a Film and Media student ruining my ability to watch films normally.

Just wondering mate, I was real into Media studies and all that but thought there really isnt a career path in that? what you planning on going into after uni?
