The Movies Thread

I quite like him as an actor.

Might watch the original Wicker Man or What Happens In Vegas today.

I watched Son of Rambow last night. I thought it was pretty weird to be honest, a mix of sad and hilarious moments. The french kid was awesome though, made me laugh quite a lot.

What Happens In Vegas - 8/10

I went into this expecting it to be complete shit. The trailers, the storyline, nothing appealed to me at all.

But it's actually really funny and I had a smile on my face nearly all through the film. Really a nice movie to watch to feel good :DD

So I finally got to see the Dark Knight.

I have to agree with you all.

It's epic.

Only problem I have with it is Mark Wahlberg. With him being the main character... it just makes me think that its going to be another typical "Wahlberg".

If Mark Wahlberg is in a film, then it's immediately brilliant.

The Bank Job

I may be severe because I watched the trailer so there was no surprise.
Good if you have nothing to watch and I have already forgotten the thing.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army

Much better than the first one.

There's not a lot of scenes, ther's a continuity of the action that was missing in TDK (and that I hated). So for me it's very good and nicely done to tell a basic story. And visually great sometimes. And fun and cool too :D.

But I was expecting a movie a bit better, more perfect ;).

The release date for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has been pushed back by eight months, to July 2009.

The sixth instalment of the teenage wizard's adventures was supposed to have its Royal premiere on 17 November.

Alan Horn, president of studio Warner Bros, said the decision was taken to guarantee the studio a major summer blockbuster in 2009.

He also blamed the Hollywood writers' strike, which hit the film industry hard earlier this year.

Mr Horn said the strike, which ended in February, had "impacted the readiness of scripts for other films."

Fantasy books

He said: "The picture is completely, absolutely, 100% on schedule, on time. There were no delays.

"I've seen the movie. It is fabulous. We would have been perfectly able to have it out in November."

The move will mean a two-year delay between the film adaptations of books five and six in JK Rowling's fantasy series.

But it will shorten fans' wait between Half-Blood Prince and the final two instalments of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which are being shot simultaneously next year.

It is thought actors Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson - who is celebrating getting straight As in her A Levels in English Literature, Geography and Art - will reprise their roles.

The release date for part one is tentatively set for November 2010.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince had been chosen for this year's Royal Film Performance, on 17 November.

Last year's Royal Film Performance was cancelled amid controversy about the chosen movie, Brick Lane.

It was first time the annual gala had been scrapped since 1958.

What a lame, shit excuse! I'm sick of hearing about this writers strike, people just seem to be jumping on the bandwagon with it. If the film is ready, release the bloody thing! :censor:

Into The Wild

I loved it. There may be a girl inside me but it's possible that my eyes have lost a couple of water drops :D.

Happiness and sadness linked together is the ultimate mix for pleasing me :).

Very good, made me very sad indeed.

Wall.e 9/10, what a master piece. There's Pixar and there's everyone else...

You can see the short that precedes the movie here: http://smellycat.com.br/2008/07/04/presto-assista-o-novo-curta-da-pixar-na-integra/

Funny as hell.

I'll watch "Into The Wild" tonight and leave my impressions later.

Edit: 8/10. Really nice film and the guy was a great character building up some great friendships and came across as a very pleasant person. Maybe a bit too long a movie, but worth watching.

I saw the end coming right from the start, although I find it hard to believe he only started eating plants when he ran out of animals. Real shame that moose hunters came only two weeks later though :((

You Don't Mess With The Zohan - 7.5/10

Pretty good movie, lots of moments where I laughed out loud, typical film of what I'd expect Adam Sandler to be in :))
