The Movies Thread

Just got back from seeing Hancock. It was alright, nothing special really. The shock moment was very well done but it was kind of ploddy all the way through

The Love Guru

Not great.

Not very funny but some sex jokes are good.

Alba is shown 5 minutes and that's it. Useless...

4+/10

I watched Harold and Kumar 2 last night and thought it was just as good as the first

so many funny quotes in that film, this is when there talking to George Dubya Bush

Kumar: So you get high and you put other people who smoke weed in jail?
Bush: DUH!
Kumar: That's so hypocritical!
Bush: Oh yeah? Well let me ask you something, Kumar, do you like giving hand jobs?
Kumar: No sir.
Bush: Do you like gettin' hand jobs?
Kumar: [smirking] Heh, yeah.
Bush: Yeah well, that makes you a fuckin' hypocriticizer too, so shut the fuck up! Now smoke my weed.

Watched the most of it, fell asleep with 20 mins left or so. From what I seen, it was really good and some bits really did have me laughing out loud. Enjoyable film :DD

another funny quote

Neil Patrick Harris: What's your name, miss?
Tits: Tits Hemmingway.
Neil Patrick Harris: I hope you're ready for me, Tits. Because I'm going to rock out with my cock out, and you're going to jam out with your clam out. It's going to be magical.

I watched it last night as well and thought it was hilarious. Just as good as the first, if not better.

Kumar Patel: [taking a dump] Oh God, dude!
Harold Lee: [in shower] What the fuck? What the fuck? What are you doing?
Kumar Patel: I'm taking the most incredible dump of all time, man.
Harold Lee: You couldn't wait until I got out of the shower?
Kumar Patel: Um, may I remind you that we both just ate 30 burgers and 4 large orders of fries?
[continues to take a dump]
Kumar Patel: Don't worry, in a little bit I'm sure it'll hit you too.
Harold Lee: Maybe, but I'm going to wait until you get out of the shower!
Kumar Patel: Well don't wait too long. We gotta leave for the airport in an hour.
Harold Lee: An hour?
Kumar Patel: Uh-huh. Oh, hey, Roldy?
Harold Lee: Yeah?
Kumar Patel: Nice pubes.

Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay

That's (good) comedy. As good as the 1st one in my opinion.

The story and the sequence of scenes were very good and funny.

Almost all the lines are good quotes.

8/10

Redbelt - 8.5/10

Really nice film, good story and kept me interested although not too much action involved. Quite a relaxing film, with moments of sadness and it does give off a lot of feeling. Pretty powerful movie really.

Karate Kid meets MMA I suppose.

Oh, and Chiwetel Ejiofor rocks. Great acting and nice moves with his martial arts.

Hancock - 5/10

Was really interesting in the beginning, but kept getting lamer towards the end. Interesting concept, but ruined by the eventual story.

Can't say I enjoyed the film to be honest, it found it rather dull and uninteresting :((. Coming from a martial arts background I have to say that the handicap part was quite a flaw as no serious martial arts fighter would condone that.

Chiwetel Ejiofor was good in this film though.

has anyone seen these French horrors?

El Orfanato aka The Orphanage

À l'intérieur aka Inside

Both are meant to be good and has anyone seen Skeleton Key as well?

El Orfanato is Spanish :) Its meant to be similar to Pan's Labyrinth and The Devil's Backbone, since its the same producer - I've got it on DVD and will probably watch it this week.
