The Movies Thread

Did anyone else think the film was far too 'Jayden Smith' centered? Obviously it is the 'Karate Kid' so the film is based on his story, but it seemed overly centered on Jayden as if it was a promo, a stepping stone for him doing other leading roles.

Not for me.
 
Inception 6/10

A let down for me. I was bored for most of the film. Many holes in the plot, many absurd decisions of the script that turn what could have been a great movie of "mirrors" into a simple fest of effects, bad directed action and explosions. At least that's how I lived it.

I recall "Thirteenth floor" as a better film of "worlds inside worlds", though it wasn't a great movie, but at least explained things much better and didn't build an utterly complex and far-fetched plot to explain nothing interesting at the end.

I think it lacked a lot of creativity and it was supplied by a lot of unnecessary action. I prefer smart words and intelligent relationships (Memento) to raw action with effects.

Toy Story 3 - 9/10

Lovely way to wrap up this franchise of movies.

Touching and funny.

Just misses being a 10 for me as the characters are now so familiar as are their catchprases which get repeated at every chance throughout. That's not a bad thing it just isn't as cute as it originally was to see the toys develop during the first 2 movies.

That being said, Buzz during his 'Spanish' moments is hilarious!

Totally agreed, a good movie after all. And the "spanish" moments were impressive, I laughed as I hadn't in a lot of time in a cinema.

Have you seen Kick-Ass? Watched it last week & the youngster (Hit-Girl) in that was superb. Not to mention that she swore like a trooper!
 
Finally saw Inception and thought it worth the hype, only thing I didn't like was that were far too many explanation to Juno, the classic character that work as the spectator.
I mean the whole concept wasn't that hard to follow and they explaining it half of the movie with 'smart words' analogies is kinda of exhausting, maybe this was just me, but I think some stupid simple metaphors would explain it much better, saving a lot of time for the awesome part of the movie.
9/10 for me that maybe can turn into a 10/10 next time I watch.
 
Saw Inception last night... 8/10 for me.

Thought it was really well done, wasnt THAT confusing if you paid attention and the action sequences were superb - especially the zero gravity stuff.

Only thing that drops it a point or two is the 3000 rounds fired from semi-auto weapons from 10 yards missing v 1 round from a handgun taking down an assailant - typical Hollywood cheese.

But it was an enjoyable film for sure.

I warned you...


..the Ending jacked me off big style, they had a synthetic blood, they were in the place that makes and supplies the blood, they had the knowledge of what turned them back; they had the guy there who could have mixed the cure blood and synthetic blood together, this would then be shipped all over the world, so what did they do.. Yep get in the car and drive off... :SS I will not watch the inevitable sequel :RANT:

Agreed. Bollocks ending and quite a few stupid plot holes.
