Real Betis 1-0 Sevilla Atlético
Three wins on the spin for watertight Betis.
Carles Aleñà was handed an immediate debut, with the difficult task of filling the void left by Guardado. Yarmolenko and Vezo both had to settle for a place on the bench. Whilst Rúben Dias, in only his second start, deputised as captain due to Joaquín only making the bench.
It nearly started badly for the hosts when, in the 8th minute, Fernandez sped clean through on goal only to be thwarted by a smart stop from the Betis keeper.
Fast forward 30 minutes and Sanabria scored his second goal in as many games. Campbell’s hopeful ball from the left dropped over the shoulder of José Amo and Sanabria outmuscled the defender before slotting home into the bottom left corner.
The Verdiblancos came within a whisker of doubling the lead against there Andalusian rivals early in the second half. Samper went down in a heap 25 yards from goal, under the challenge of two defenders and, as a precaution, had to be stretchered off. Boudebouz stepped up and clipped the top of the bar from the resulting free kick. Close!
Mendieta’s side have hit the ground running and now find themselves unbeaten in four with a three match winning streak under their belt.
