PES 3 Master League - Part Two
Hello!
A week after my first post, I have some updates.
Halfway through season 3, I was able to sign the man, the myth, the legend himself, Babangida. I had heard of him before and about how good he was in the early years of the Master League, but I had never played with him myself.
My god how fast is he.
His signing completely changed our team's luck, going from lower mid table to randomly being 2nd place and challenging for the league title. In the end we finished 5th but we were really close to having a star above our flag!
One thing about this league season, was how competitive it was. I think there were only 10 points separating league champions Barcelona from 10th-placed Girondins de Bordeaux. Though I do need to remark the fact that THE Real Madrid placed 13th and had to play the promotion/relegation playoffs. They did manage to stay in the top flight but it would've been so funny to see them in the second division.
6 weeks into the 4th season, we did have to play the WEFA Championship qualifying round, sharing a group with Juventus, Chelsea and Schalke 04. We had a poor start, losing 2-1 to Chelsea after they pulled a comeback. We then went on to beat Juve 1-0 with a Huylens winner, only to lose by the same scoreline against Schalke on MD3. Now Matchday 4 was when things got interesting: we took the lead against Chelsea, but Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink pulled the equalizer. We then took the lead again at the beginning of the 2nd half, but then they equalized again after a corner. THEN an Ivarov blooper allowed Hasselbaink to put the english club in the lead, only for them to give away a pen 5 minutes later, which was scored by Piliniak. 3-3. We thought that was it, we were going to share 1 point each, but in the very last play of the match Babangida invented a solo run that left him face-to-face against the Chelsea goalkeeper, and he slotted it in the top right corner. Late winner, 4-3 PES United and all 3 points to ourselves.
The remaining two games were Ws as well: 3-1 at home vs. Juventus and 2-0 away at Schalke. Topped the group, made it into the group stage. Now it's time to face 3 clubs from the Eastern League: Dynamo Kyiv, Bayern Munich and Spartak Moskva. We'll see how that goes.
