TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY

**Jordi Amat departs for the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen coughing up €16.75M for the 27 year old. Betis were forced to cash in, with the centreback, in the final year of his contract, trying to fleece the club with demands of over €5M a year for a new deal!**

**Amat was sold a 24hrs before transfer deadline day**

After chasing him all summer, Betis finally stump up the cash and find an instant replacement for Jordi Amat, triggering Rúben Vezo’s release clause.

A former player under Mendieta, Vezo departs the Mestalla (Valencia) for €12.5M, signing a 4 year deal with Real Betis.

Frustrated by a lack opportunities and with a whole host of suitors trailing after him, the young talented midfielder Carles Aleñà opts to join Real Betis from Barcelona B.

€10.2M is a significant investment, not to mention a sizeable risk, for the relatively untested 21 Year old. However, Aleñà has talent written all over him and Mendieta had to move first due to the following piece of news.....

It is with much regret that club captain and midfield engine Andrés Guardado departs Benito Villamarín. The financial implications of keeping the Mexican were too great. He was the highest paid player at the club and only had abyear to run on his contract. So when West Ham United came knocking with a €17.8M offer, business wise it was a no brainer for Betis to sell to the London club. The player himself leaves with a heavy heart, adored by the fans, but content in the knowledge that his transfer does right by the green and white stripes he had come to love.

In the last throes of the window Betis pull off a real coup, enticing wantaway midfielder Andriy Yarmolenko from German giants Borussia Dortmund for €13M.

Transfer listed by Dortmund and maybe past his peak, Yarmolenko will still be a cut above in this division, bringing with him a wealth of experience, invaluable to this relatively young Betis side. Yarmolenko’s arrival on a long five year contract also puts to bed Mendieta’s long term interest in Sporting Gijon winger Moi Gómez.

Real Betis 1-0 Sevilla Atlético

Three wins on the spin for watertight Betis.

Carles Aleñà was handed an immediate debut, with the difficult task of filling the void left by Guardado. Yarmolenko and Vezo both had to settle for a place on the bench. Whilst Rúben Dias, in only his second start, deputised as captain due to Joaquín only making the bench.

It nearly started badly for the hosts when, in the 8th minute, Fernandez sped clean through on goal only to be thwarted by a smart stop from the Betis keeper.

Fast forward 30 minutes and Sanabria scored his second goal in as many games. Campbell’s hopeful ball from the left dropped over the shoulder of José Amo and Sanabria outmuscled the defender before slotting home into the bottom left corner.

The Verdiblancos came within a whisker of doubling the lead against there Andalusian rivals early in the second half. Samper went down in a heap 25 yards from goal, under the challenge of two defenders and, as a precaution, had to be stretchered off. Boudebouz stepped up and clipped the top of the bar from the resulting free kick. Close!

Mendieta’s side have hit the ground running and now find themselves unbeaten in four with a three match winning streak under their belt.

Real Betis 1-1 Girona

Vietto rescues a point for Betis in early season top of the table clash.

This was to be the Verdiblancos toughest test yet in a match against La Liga 123 pace setters Girona, who also boast the divisions top scorer with Kayode leading the line.

Campbell and Samper both found themselves dropped forcing Mendieta to hand Yarmolenko his debut behind the main striker with Boudebouz dropping into central midfield.

Not having Samper dictacting things in midfield seemed to have a particularly negative effect on the rhythm of Betis’s play. Despite this though, the green and whites did create the first opening of the match when, in the 7th minute, Sanabria cut inside his man on the edge of the 18 yard box and arrowed a low shot across the keeper that’s smacked off the base of the righthand post.

After saving an initial shot from Boulaya, Adán will be disappointed he couldn’t keep out Timor’s low drive on the rebound in the 48th minute. That was the first goal conceded by Adán and Real Betis’s this season. How would they react?

Decisively is the answer. Mendieta’s half time substitute, Atlético loanee Vietto, equalised in the 59th from an acute angle. He snuck round the outside of the defender to reach Alena’s weighted pass down the left, before poking a low finish past the keeper into the far righthand corner. A superb finish.

The Verdiblancos came up against a good side today. The Gironistes proved why they are top dogs so far.

CF Reus Deportiu 0-1 Real Betis

A moment of North African magic breaks Reus Deportiu hearts.

Vezo made his debut with Aïssa Mandi fatigued. club legend Jaoquin started on the left in place of Joel Campbell.

The small club from Catalonia were unbeaten up until today’s visit from Betis, and they showcased why with an extremely good first half display in front of the home fans at the cosy 4,700 seater Estadi Municipal. Putting Betis under pressure from the off, Reus Deportiu almost took an early lead, striking the left hand post in the 13th minute.

The second half belonged to Béticos though. Boudebouz grabbing the goal only 3 minutes after the restart, and in style too. The Algerian picked up possession in the final third set off on a jinking run, beating a man, before playing a one-two with Sanabria and dispatching a left footed shot from the edge of the area beyond the grasp of the keeper and into the bottom right corner.

Vietto was introduced for Betis midway through the second half and almost doubled the lead within minutes, striking the foot of the right hand post in the 65th minute. It was good movement from the Argentinian, deserving of a goal.

19th placed Barcelona B up next for the unbeaten Verdiblancos.

Barcelona B 2-1 Real Betis

Barca B roll over Betis

Navarro was drafted in for his first start of the season at right full back. Mandi returned to the starting eleven at the expense of Vezo at centre back.

struggling in the Segunda Division, Barcelona’s second string have now soundly beaten highflying Girona and Real Betis in their last two outings.

Similar to goal he conceded against Girona, The Betis keeper parried Vitinho’s 32nd minute strike back into the danger zone and into the path of Lozano who cooly stroked the ball in from 8 yards. The opener had been a long time coming following Barca’s far superior opening to the game.

Betis worked themselves back into the match with a prolonged passage of patient possession where, on three separate occasions, Sanabria was thwarted no less than three times by the Barca keeper. Betis would rue those missed opportunities....

Up the other end Arnaiz got across Adán at his near post and glanced in a header to double Barca’s lead from Concha’s 75th minute corner.

Mendieta’s men made a real fist of it and took the game to Barca, despite the deficit. Yarmolenko was brought on and drew on all his experience, proceeding to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. Harrying the Catalan midfielder’s, the Ukrainian stole possession and fed the ball to Samper whilst continuing his forward run. Samper lifted a pass over the defense and Yarmolenko volleyed past the keeper with a nice controlled finish to give the visitors a fighting chance in the 86th minute. Unfortunately for Yarmolenko and co, the second goal never materialised.

Barcelona dragged the Betis defense all over the place today and ran out worthy winners. Lozano and Vitinho shone particularly bright for the hosts.

COPA DEL REY FIRST ROUND

1st Leg

Real Betis 0-0 Rayo Vallecano

All square for the return leg.

With a promotion back to the top flight a clear priority, Mendieta made a raft of changes for the cup. Working from the back.... Dias was rested with Vezo coming in. Navarro started over Pereira at right full back. Victor Camarasa lined up for his first start of the season, partnering Samper in the middle of he park. Woodburn and Joaquin were both deployed on the wings with Campbell and Tello benched, and Vietto started up front with Sanabria not even named in the match day squad.

Rayo Vallecano upped their performance in the second half of this encounter but Betis really should have made there dominance count in the first. By far and away the best chance came and went in the 25th minute for the Verdiblancos. Durmisi squirmed away from his man brilliantly down the left and sprinted into the box towards the byline. The Danes cutback was inch perfect for Vietto rushing in at the corner of he six yard box, but his low effort was brilliantly saved from the Vallecano keeper and somehow Joaquin couldn’t capitalise on the rebound. Valázquez heroically blocked the 38 year old wingers efforts to bury the ball more than three times!

2nd Leg

Rayo Vallecano (1) 1-2 (2) Real Betis AET

Boudebouz carries Betis into the next round!

Dias was reinstated at centre back at the expense of Vezo. Aleñà came back in for Camarasa in midfield. Tello, Yarmolenko and Woodburn all started as a trio behind Vietto.

With it being so open, it was quite amazing no goals were scored in second half. Both sides had fantastic chances to win this in the final throes of the 90 minutes, but neither could apply the finishing touch.

Enter extra time, enter Boudebouz!

The Algerian trickster found his feet when every other player were dead on theirs.

First the midfielder laid on a cheeky assist for fellow substitute Sanabria to put away in the 3rd minute of extra time. Boudebouz had broke into space down the left, courtesy of Durmisi’s clever through ball, and the Algerian was at his creative best when he teed up Sanabria, through the middle of two defenders, with a backheel from the byline. Class!

Barely two minutes later and Boudebouz put this cup tie to bed. Having intercepted a stray defensive Vallecano pass, the attacking midfielder powered towards goal and cooly curled his finish low to the keeper’s left.

Rayo Vallecano put up a fight and cut a break in the second period of extra time with a nice finish from the edge of the area. Fran Beltran’s sweeping drive found its way into the net via the left hand post in the 108th minute.

A truly entertaining match up between the two sides. On the weight of things Betis deserved the victory though.

Real Betis 0-0 Real Zaragoza

Los Maños shut out Betis.

Despite returning to a full strength line up, the Verdiblancos were unable to break through a Zaragoza brick wall in today’s fixture.

One shot off target tells you all you need to know regarding Zaragoza’s ambition during the match. Though, with Real Betis unable to hit top gear, Zaragoza’s game plan worked a treat. The parked Zaragoza bus restricted their hosts to only four shots all match and Los maños will leave Estadio Benito Villamarín the happier of the two sides.

Real Valladolid 0-1 Real Betis

Luciano Vietto a cut above!

Mendieta shook things up today after lasts weeks poor draw against a defiant Zaragoza.

This match belonged to Vietto. The little Argentine forward hit a little purple patch in the second half where, for about 25 minutes, he sang the Valladolid defense a merry tune. The link up play with Boudebouz was almost telepathic at times, but the movement... oh the movement, that is where Vietto reigned supreme. It came as no shock to see the on-loan Atlético striker hit the back of the net in the 63rd minute, but the source of the assist was just as impressive. Ruben Vezo disposed the Valladolid striker on the halfway line and in an instant turned defense into attack, striding forward before threading the ball into the feet of Vietto. Vietto still had it all to do, cutting inside his marker on the right corner of the box before side footing past the isolated figure of Isaac.

Vietto is pushing Sanabria hard for that starting berth on a regular basis.

Something i noticed, if you want to skip some "Low TEAM SPIRIT" script. When you sign a player with the TEAM ROLE "smart player" and assign him as the captain the TEAM SPIRIT increases by 15-16 plus 4-5 points for being in the starting 11. So you have a +20 in your teamspirit. I started a new ML run and i signed R. Boudebouz from Real Betis the most easy player to sign when you start a Master LEague campaign in a low-rated team. I signed him and James Rodrigues from Bayern (or free agent without OF) who has also the "Smart Player" trait with some additional players with the "team player" trait and my team spirit jumped from ~60 to 89 in the first weeks of the season.

http://www.pesmaster.com/r-boudebouz/pes-2018/player/38190/

P.S.: It is the first ML in my life that my starting signings are not some wonderkids or decent-developing 19~24 years old players.

Hi guys, do someone play on Superstar? Can u record a video for me how to win against COM?

Hey dude,

All my opinion....
There is no specific way to be superstar (not at least to my mind). I’ve been playing on superstar challenge mode for ML, and about two and half seasons into it I have had a completely mixed bag of results.

Team spirit is very important if you want your players to do there jobs properly and especially if you want your players to take up good positions and make good runs.

Tactics wise, don’t get too bogged down trying to use so many different advanced tactics. Maybe pick one thing for now that suits your style of play, for example if you like to play expansive football using the width of the pitch why not deploy hug the touchline in advanced tactics.

When in possession don’t give the Ball away cheaply. If you keep gifting your opponent possession they will score eventually, especially so if you lose it in your own half. Sometimes that Hollywood pass can wait, keep the ball moving and pick your openings wisely.

Hope this helps

Real Betis 0-0 Rayo Vallecano

Top of table clash ends all square.

Vietto keeps out Sanabria for Betis, after an impressive display in the match previous vs Valladolid.

This was the third encounter of the season already between these two sides sitting 2nd and 3rd in the table respectfully. Despite winning the last time these two met, Betis constantly struggled to apply the finishing touch this time around, falling short in the final third on multiple occasions.

Sergi Samper missed an absolute sitter in the 14th minute with the goal gaping! The midfielder poked wide after a give and go with Aleñá, when it looked far easier to score.

Again, in the 87th minute, Boudebouz was also guilty of lacking that killer instinct. Substitute Yarmolenko had sold his marker a brilliant dummy down the right to get to the byline, before cutting back to Boudebouz situated eight yards out from goal next to the penalty spot. The Algerians shot, albeit on his less favoured right, lacked conviction and was saved at a comfortable height by the keeper.

Real Betis 1-0 SD Huesca

Super-sub Vietto does it again!

Sanabria was reinstated in the front line and Navarro came in at right back for Pereira.

Sanabria should have given Real Betis an early 3rd minute lead. He outmuscled the defender after collecting Tello’s ball over the top, but the keeper saved at his near post from point blank range and the ball trickled agonisingly wide.

On as a substitute for Sanabria in the 68th minute, less than 30 seconds later Vietto read Amador’s wayward pass out from the back and proceeded to round the same defender before arrowing the winner past Alex Remiro into the right corner. Unbelievable impact play from the little maestro.

It would have all been for nought had Adán not been alert in the Verdiblancos goal 3 minutes into injury time. The Betis keeper saved Rescaldani’s downward header with his outstretched foot to secure all three points for his side!

Lowly AD Alcorcón up next for high flying Betis. Way down in 20th, these are the type of matches Mendieta’s boys must win to build consistency in their pursuit for promotion.

AD Alcorcón 1-2 Real Betis

Betis get the business done early at the Santi Domingo.

Last week Vietto proved his worth (once again), coming off the bench against SD Huesca to score the winner. This was enough to secure a recall to the starting lineup this week at the expense of Sanabria. Yarmolenko also came in for a rare starting berth on the right, with Tello switching to left wing and Campbell dropping out of the starting eleven.

The Verdiblancos early lead was all Sergi Samper. His little through the legs flick in the 9th minute set up Tello for a shot on goal from the left hand side of the box. The winger’s top corner effort was saved athletically by the keeper, but Samper had followed up and knocked in the rebound from close range.

Barely two minutes later and Vietto was at it again. Bringing down Boudebouz’s pass brilliantly, the inform striker got away from his two markers approaching the right hand corner of the penalty box, took a couple more touches, then slammed his shot into the far corner of the net.

All credit to the Madrid based minnows, they had some spunk! And after a bit of headed ping pong in the Betis penalty box they conjured an equaliser in the 21st minute to half the deficit. 10 yards out Peña controlled Borja Dominguez’s chipped ball with his left before poking the finish past Adán with his right.

With 15 shots on goal Real Betis should’ve have been out of sight, especially with Sanabria coming off the bench in the second half and linking up fantastically well with Vietto. Food for thought for Mendieta in future, to play both men up top may just be the most frightening partnership in the division.

La Liga 123 Standings (12 pld)

7C6B267D-884D-4A4B-B0C2-4A38960E3B0C.jpeg

Real Betis haven’t exactly been setting La Liga 123 alight with their performances. However, Mendieta has brought together a defensively sound and organised team that are nothing if not consistent, with the added bonus of having a squad depth most in the division would be envious of. Los Verdiblancos keep grinding out the results and it is unlikely much will change if the level of performances stay the same.

Girona FC and Rayo Vallecano look very strong just behind Betis. It is not unimaginable and very likely, at such an early stage in the season, that we will see these three teams promoted come the end of the season.

Having recently moved up to 7th, Barcelona B have put an early season slump to bed with an impressive win streak to shoot up the table.

Down in 12th and 15th respectively, relegated Osasuna and Real Sporting (Gijon) have both failed to acclimatise to their new surroundings, underperforming considerably despite having (on paper) relatively strong squads.

Real Betis 2-0 CD Lugo

Betis make light work of Lugo.

With Algerian playmaker Boudebouz in need of a much deserved rest, Camarasa made a rare start in the evening kick off, lining up in the AMF role. Campbell was drafted back in for a start on the left wing and Vietto once again received the nod over Sanabria.

With 14 on the clock Campbell gave the home-side the lead with a goal of the upmost quality. receiving the ball on his right foot in the D, the Costa Rican then spun round the outside of his marker with his left before burning away from the attention of not one, not two, but three defenders! Campbell capped the move off with an explosive strike, from a tight angle, in off the bottom of the far right hand post.

Vietto doubled the lead with what is fast becoming a trademark finish from the Argentinian, picking the ball up on the right and coming inside the box to bury the shot into the left corner of the goal. All this after Kravets wayward pass had gifted Vietto possession in the danger zone.

Mendieta’s side building good momentum now with three wins on the spin.

Córdoba 0-0 Real Betis

Betis fail to capitalise at the Estadio Neuvo Arcángel

Vietto was once again given the nod over Sanabria. Ruben Vezo partnered Dias at centre back.

Despite being 10th in the league, Córdoba started the day only four points off of 3rd placed Rayo Vallecano and put up a stern defense Display against their Andalusian rivals today.

But it is Betis who will be kicking themselves. Despite the slim pickings the Verdiblancos spurned two glorious opportunities to snatch all three points.

In the 50th minute Pereira picked out Campbell’s run to the corner of the six yard box with an inch perfect lofted pass from 40 yards. Unfortunately the Costa Rican could only slice his side footed volley wide of the target. Anywhere the other side of the post and the keeper would have stood little chance.

The two Betis substitutes Sanabria and Woodburn, introduced midway through the second half, combined to create the most clear cut opportunity of the match. In the 75th, ten minutes after being introduced, Woodburn timed his diagonal run in off the left to perfection. Sanabria picked out the Welsh loanee with a nicely weighted slide rule pass, only for the youngster to see his strike tipped away brilliantly by the Córdoba keeper low to his left.

A wasted opportunity today for Betis to pull away from the pack. The Verdiblancos remain top in any case, if only by a couple of points.

Cultural Leonesa 2-3 Real Betis

Sanabria leads the way for the Verdiblancos!

With Aleñà out, Boudebouz dropped into central midfield to partner Samper. This afforded Mendieta the opportunity to partner Vietto up front alongside Sanabria

It didn’t take long for the visitors to get off the mark against La Liga 123’s bottom club. With the game 10 minutes old Vietto nipped in and intercepted a poor pass from the Leonesa right back. He then raced to the byline and cut the ball back to Sanabria in the middle of the penalty area, and the striker took a touch to compose himself before tapping in from close range.

Mario Ortiz dragged Leonesa back into the match in the 23rd minute, leaping highest above Campbell to convert Bouy’s corner from the left. Game on!

Real Betis did not waste any time in regaining the lead though, Sanabria notching up an assist to go with his his goal, less than seven minutes after Leonesa had equalised. The Betis target man showed good feet inside the penalty box, controlling and retaining the ball in a tight quarters, before laying it back for Sergi Samper to set himself and lash into the far left corner.

The Verdiblancos pulled two goals clear in the 68th minute through a lovely passage of play. Samper played the ball into Campbell, who then knocked a first time pass to Boudebouz, and from 20 yards out the Algerian looked up and picked out Sanabria darting into the area. The forward capped off a well rounded performance with a brilliant side footed volley in off the the right hand post.

Cultural Leonesa still refused to lay down. Deep into stoppage time (93rd to be exact) Bouy provided his 2nd assist of the day, dropping the ball over the shoulder and onto the right boot of Ángel Bastos. The Spanish full back made amends for his error in the build up to Betis first goal with a truly sensational volley in off the left post, pipping Sanabria’s strike for the goal of the game.

Cultural Leonesa were certainly tougher than expected, but Mendieta’s players were more than up to the task. Particularly Mr Antonio Sanabria who had a rather productive game picking up a brace and an assist.

With Girona losing to Sevilla Atletico, Real Betis Balompié now open up a 5 point gap at the summit.

Real Betis 2-0 Almería

High flying Betis make light work of Almería.

Despite a productive match alongside Sanabria the week previous, Vietto found himself on the bench with Boudebouz pushed forward into his usual role behind the striker and Carles Aleñà reinstated to the line up in central midfield.

With 11 minutes gone Sanabria carried on against Almería where he had left off against Leonesa, stroking in a rebound from six yards. René, the Almería keeper, had pulled off an amazing double stop to first deny Samper and then Aleñà but didn’t have enough to get to Sanabria’s effort.

Seven minutes after the half time interval a positive passage of play led to a frantic session of pinball inside the Almería penalty box. Cristian Tello stepped up to restore an air of calmness with a rare goal from 10 yards, guiding the ball low into the bottom right corner.

on as a substitute for Sanabria, Vietto really should have put the away side to the sword but failed to convert a glorious chance when well placed only 8 yards out from goal. Having stepped inside the shadowing defender on the left corner of the penalty area, the little forward skipped away from his marker but skewed his effort wide of the right hand post with only the keeper to beat.

Almería never really troubled a Betis side in impressive form. It’s hard to see where the next real challenge will come from for the Verdiblancos.

Real Betis 4-2 Albacete Balompié

Goals rain down in this stormy Balompié thriller.

Andriy Yarmolenko deputised for Tello on the right of midfield. Rúben Vezo was deployed at centre back in place of Aïssa Mandi.

Wow! Just wow! A rip roaring first half at the estadio Benito Villamarín, with four goals scored inside a crazy six first half minutes. (Wish I’d recorded this game!!!)

The away side got the ball rolling with 13 minutes gone. coming in from the left, Bela brought down Pelayo’s diagonal ball out of the air with a good first touch before connecting sweetly on the half volley to score past Adán.

Betis responded in the best way possible equalising barely 90 seconds after conceding the opener. Out on the right, Yarmolenko picked out Boudebouz’s run into the penalty area and the Algerian showed immense skill to hold off his marker, chest the ball down and cooly slot home, low down to the keeper’s right.

The wet conditions were causing havoc for everyone involved, apart from the forwards who were benefitting from an extra zip to their shots. Zozulya’s 17th minute fierce first time hit, on the volley from 20 odd yards out, was too hot for Adán to handle. a bit of a disaster for the Betis keeper with that one, turning the ball into his own net.

No less than two minutes later it was all square again. Verdiblanco left back Durmisi played the ball ahead of Campbell down the left and the winger cut inside his man brilliantly before hanging up the perfect cross for Sanabria to nut in, and continue his rich vein of goal scoring form.

The crowd had to wait a little longer for another goal. Not too long though.......

15 minutes after equalising, Betis took a deserved lead in the 34th minute. Sanabria, Samper and Boudebouz all combined on the edge of the visitors area before Boudebouz grabbed his brace with an emphatic finish. Controlling with his back to goal on his left foot, the playmaker then spun onto his less favoured right foot and absolutely spanked the ball past the Albacete Balompié keeper into the top right hand corner.

Betis weren’t done there. Two minutes into first half stoppage time, after bundling his way through the Albacete backline and into the penalty box, the ball fell kindly to Yarmolenko and the Ukrainian international added fourth Betis goal to the ever rising scoreline.

What a rollercoaster of a half! Betis rarely concede more than a single goal, and with that in mind, Queso Mecánico (as Albacete are known) will be kicking themselves for twice relinquishing their lead over Mendieta’s side.

Believe it or not, the goal glut stopped there. No more shots rustled the back of the net in the second half despite Samper and Vietto hitting the woodwork for Betis and Bela almost pulling a goal back for Albacete with a curling effort coming back off the post.

Cádiz 0-2 Real Betis

Boudebouz and co make light work of Cádiz.

With the fixtures starting to pile up, Mandi returned at centre back in place of Vezo and Tello regained his spot on the right ahead of Yarmolenko.

Turning on a dime Inside the final third, Boudebouz bamboozled his marker in the 8th minute, before advancing on goal at pace and dispatching a curling effort past the Cádiz keeper from the edge of the D, albeit via a heavy deflection off the back of Carles Aleñá. The Algerian will still be claiming that one.

On the stroke of half time, in the 44th, Boudebouz swung over a corner from the left, which the Cádiz rearguard failed to clear. The ball sat up at nice height for Samper inside the box, and the midfielder added another notch to his fine goal tally with a sumptuous half volley in off the crossbar.

Betis rarely reached top gear, yet easily controlled the game at the Estadio Ramón de Carranza. Cádiz offered little challenge, a powder puff performance in front of the home ground. As for the Man of the Match.... Boudebouz is fast looking like a player too good for this division and Mendieta will do well to keep hold of the Algerian playmaker in the January transfer window.

Real Betis 0-0 Club Gimnástic

The Granes (maroons) momentarily halt the Verdiblanco steam train with a disciplined display.

After such a positive performance against Cádiz it’s a shame Boudebouz had to sit this one out, as did the right full back Pereira. In come Navarro at full back and Vietto to replace Boudebouz.

Such was the way this game planned out, that the best opportunity didn’t materialise until the 90th minute!

Perales in the Gimnástic goal thwarted Yarmolenko at the death with an astonishing save from the former Dortmund man’s downward header six yards out. Having not had a sniff of goal all match, it really was a brilliant opportunity for the substitute to nick all three points after fellow substitute Ben Woodburn had played Durmisi into space on the overlap down the left flank to whip in the cross.

Betis lacked a creative spark with Boudebouz out of the match day squad, and although still on an admirable unbeaten run stretching back 14 games, the Verdiblancos failed to win for 5th match in a row. Which is a shame.

Episode 7 see Ted Lasso side take on the likes of Burton Albion, Derby County, and the league leaders Hull City

Nice work and pretty good ML run of yours. I often check your youtube videos. Also pretty nice patch you are using, as a console player i'm really jealous of your scoreboards and presentation plug-ins of PC modes.
May i ask you, do you use a gameplay patch or mod or just TopPlayer with -1 or -2 speed? Cause i see really slow/realistic build up from the CPU team. In PS4, CPU/AI build-up in superstar and in TopPlayer, feels pretty rushed in terms of gamespeed in 0 gamespeed setting.

P.S. Your videos are a reason for me to re-occupy my abandoned PES2018 ML, after i went back to PES 2017 ML cause of the 2018 flaws.

Thanks slamsoze, glad that you are enjoying the videos.

To answer your question about gameplay. I do not use any gameplay mods, I use NESA's Tool to edit the values for game speed and player reaction speed. With the tool it allows me to edit the speed to any value between the normal values you can enter into the game (for example i could set the value to -0.5). Right now with using just Top Player difficulty I have the value set to -1 game speed. At this speed I feel its helps slow down the AI due to their love of playing direct and fast but that is just my preference at this moment.

The downside to playing at -1 is the lack of physicality/fouls given on both sides of the ball. To help fix this I tend to set my player reactions speed value slightly higher then default to get more fouls. The downside to that is you have instances where the players will have some funky animations issues (players run over the ball but don't touch it, GK whiffing on kicks, and some bad collision physics) and so I'm constantly tweaking the reaction speed to get the best out of -1 game speed.

I would agree that 0 speed is more for the pace you see in the online side of the game. So going to a -1 is a viable alternative for ML if you can live with the lack of fouls.

I know it's not PES 2018 but this seems like the most active Competition Diaries thread so hope you don't mind me sharing what i've been working on. It's Match Day 3 of my EURO 2004 Series on PES 6.

Hosts Portugal need to beat Russia by 3 clear goals to stand a chance of qualifying for the Quarter Finals and Spain need to defeat Greece to qualify for the second round.

What a crazy game that was.. I qualified for the Italian serie B playoffs in my second season at Padova I really should have won the title I was second 3 points off SPAL with 6 games to go and had an absolute nightmare I just couldnt score and was cursing the game like a mad man lucky for us we scraped in by 1 point thanks to a solid season with the best defensive record in the league

I was matched with Bari and lost the first leg 3-1 we didnt play badly but not great either at 2-1 I was ok with the result but they made it 3 in the last minute and I thought thats it im out another season in serie B and likely getting sacked

at home I dominated them but they were set to the highest defensive bar (park the bus) and there was no way through I felt sick all them hours playing and nothing to show for it until our captain Longhi did what he has been doing all season coming up with important goals. He only scored 5 this season but all of them were at crucial moments this time in the 59th minute he rifled in a loose ball from the edge of the box to make it 3-2 on agg game on

still we struggled to break them down half chances and then they started to dominate I made no subs and my players were dead they got a corner in the 90th minute and it bobbled around the box but I got it clear to my AMF Fontana suddenly it was 2 vs their back 4 I charged at them and Lazzari cut across and I through balled in pure hope but he got it, closed down on goal and I almost shit myself I was about to miss but BANG bottom corner I literally blurted out YEAAAAAHHHHHHHHSSSSS id done it!!....er not quite..

I didnt realise away goals only count after ET! so I parked the bus made 3 subs bringing on any defenders I had left and it was a pure onslaught Bari hit the post and hit the bar which bounced down on the line and my CB hoofed it away also our GK Bonauti pulled off some crazy saves, So 120mins up we did it and will play Cagliari in the final a team that knocked us out of the italian cup and beat us twice in the league this is going to be really really tough to win

It´s a wonderfull feel when I know we are going to loose, but somehow we don´t ahah.
I´ve been messing around with tactics, and I can understand a bit of them now. They´re important to stop CPU attacks. Sometimes it´s really easy to spot a team that plays through the middle, or through the flanks. I just change my defence accordingly, and CPU struggles to attack. It´s not 100% effective, but sure changes things and helps a bit.

I just lost against Barça in the quarter finals of CL, an I have a chance to win the Premier league, with M City only two points behind, 3 matches to go. It´s going to be tight, but I´m enjoying it.

Don´t know about you guys but I can only enjoy night matches. Seems slower and more patient. Maybe just my impression though.

Padova promoted to Serie A

two very unenjoyable games really a real scrappy affair especially the home leg in which my team were dead from only a 2 day break after going 120mins vs Bari in the semi final I had to use a lot of my reserve players and team spirit dropped from 96 to 87 so I decided to park the bus from the first whistle and im glad I did because Cagliari's Sau and Pavoletti (this seasons top goalscorer) were a nightmare to face upfront

they had 14 shots to my 3 but we took our chances and got away with so many dangerous moments for them and rode our luck the 2-2 draw was a good result as it could have been 5-2 to them and over before the second leg

despite being a scrappy game the 2nd leg was our best performance of the season vs a team we hadnt beaten in 5 meetings this season our captain Longhi makes his 73 rating a cruel joke he is a real midfield general who will be the first name on the team sheet in serie A next season he battled and scrapped in midfield for the whole 90mins this superb tackle an example of him breaking up their attacks

we scored first from a corner and they made it 1-1 through Sau but in the 2nd half we went 2-1 up and never looked in trouble controlling the game as Cagliari naming a strong team in both legs looked to have no stamina left.In the final minute we won a free kick by the corner flag while time wasting and Lazzari decided he wanted to break the net as well as Cagliari hearts when he volleyed in at 100mph from 2 yards to make it 3-1 at the final whistle

with a -2 million wage bill next season new signings are going to be difficult and keeping our best players who all have release clauses even more tough. I will be signing a target man next season if possible as our 9 goals from crosses was too low for my liking its going to be needed in games vs much better teams. I expect a relegation battle and at best a mid table finish but no doubt the chairman will want europe as he seems a bit mental
