The Master League adventures thread

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

not a problem Gerd, not a problem :)

to be honest i thought when i went away on holiday and Andre dissapeared too that someone might smell a rat.

My plan had been for the insults to increase and then we'd of arranged some kind of rendevous involving dueling pistols at dawn or something similar.

The victor would natrually return to the ML thread to a hero's welcome, the loser well he would retreat to the pes-fan forum or something similar a broken man...

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Hello my little english chums it is I Andre Wetz...

Hang on. Ok the games up. It is in fact denirobob masquerading as Limburg's finest coach :) here to announce that I shall be utilising VVV Venlo in Pro Evo Soccer 2008 Master League.

With Gerd's detective like mind inbuilt into his Belgian genes he has bowled the perfect googly that caught me thrashing around from the crease with my wicket exposed!

To be honest, I might have to have pounded on Andre just a little bit for dissing the hot women thread so it is perhaps for the best that the truth has come out.

Ik snap meer van je nederlands om eerlijk te zijn;)

Mind if I join the thread? Love reading the stories and I'm planning an interesting ML myself as well.:)

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Nice stories here!

Im about to start a master league...Im not sure about which team to choose, maybe you could help me..

Im thinking about a dutch team (probably AZ) or something different like a brazilian/argentinian/mexican/colo colo team (I have an Option File with those leagues, and I could play libertadores) or any polish/czech/russian/ukranian/romanian team (I have an OF with those leagues plus top european teams)... Which team should I pick?

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

i see Murcia have signed one of my fav players from PES5, Enrique De Lucas (some might remember my Alavés ML). It will be good to see him back in the game.

HEARTBREAK HERTHA

UEFA Cup Semi-Finals

1st leg: Arsenal 2 - 1 Hertha Berlin
2nd leg: Hertha Berlin 0 - 0 Arsenal

AGG: Arsenal 2 - 1 Hertha Berlin

Henry celebrates at the final whistle

The sun finally set on Hertha Berlin's Uefa Cup run yesterday evening. A single injury time goal, after a defensive mix up in the first leg, was all that stood between Hertha and the Uefa Cup final. The first leg looked set to finish 1-1 at the Emirates Stadium, until a defensive howler between keeper Christian Fiedler and centre back Bruno Alves presented a last gasp winner for Thierry Henry, who poked the ball in from three yards in the 93rd minute.

The second leg at the Berlin Olympiastadion saw a 0-0 stalemate play out, despite Hertha's best intentions of getting forward. Arsenal keeper Manuel Almunia confidently kept out the home side's best efforts, while at the other end, Arsenal's threats were repelled.
Given the second leg result, Hetha will be left thinking what could have been, had they not conceeded that late injury time goal in the first leg.

Hertha will now have to pick themselves up again for the league cup final against Bayern Munich, as they attempt to win the trophy for a second consecutive season. Uefa Cup football is assured next season due to their presence in the final, as Bayern are set to qualify for the Champions League. It remains to be seen however, whether Professor Nutmeg will still be in the dugout when the new campaign kicks off.

***************************

I just thought, i hadn't really mentioned my Hertha Berlin signings during my tenure there, so here's a list.

Nikola Zigic (FW - Racing Santander)
Matias Delgado (MF - Besiktas)
Lamprecht (MF - ML youngster)
Bruno Alves (DF - Porto)
Ze Castro (DF - Atletico Madrid)
Rodrigo (DF - Dynamo Kiev)
Michael Rensing (GK - Bayern Munich)

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

What a pity Prof...i hope the Bundesliga is in the nex-gen version because it's a fun league to play a ML with...

My aborted Wolfsburg ML was the best i've ever played...

HERTHA LIFT DIVISON CUP
124840_normal2.jpg

ZENTRAL OST LIGA CUP FINAL

Bayern Munich 0 - 2 Hertha Berlin Fathi 3' Bastürk 30'

Hertha Berlin lifted the top flight division cup for a second year in a row, beating league champions Bayern Munich 2-0. Hertha's left back, Malik Fathi opened the scoring with a stunning left-footed strike from just outside the box. The wonderstrike came just three minutes into the game, as the defender chose the cup final, to register his first goal of the season.

Yildiray Bastürk added another from the spot on thirty minutes, after Srdjan Lakic was fouled in the box. The Turk calmly dispatched the ball low and to the left of veteran Oliver Kahn who was sent the wrong way by the skillful midfielder.

Hertha had to finish the game with ten men however. Amadeus Wallschläger was sent off after picking up two yellow cards in the space of ten minutes, nine minutes before the break. With the score in their favour, Professor Nutmeg chose not to gamble and withdrew striker Lakic, choosing to plug the midfield with Andreas Neuendorf. Bayern rarely threatened and their best chance came when Roy Makaay hit the post with a flying header. Perhaps Bayern's subdued performance was due to an impending Champions League final against Real Madrid in the following week. Either way, the victory will taste great for Hertha fans, as the club pick up two trophies in the three seasons under Professor Nutmeg.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Hertha BSC and Professor Nutmeg: a happy and successfull alliance...congratulations Prof...

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Thanks gerd. I really had my heart set on the Uefa Cup final though :( Funny, but i do enjoy seeing my club lifting the trophy etc. The rarity of it makes it more fun, i guess.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

I sorely miss PES...i wanna play a "real" ML on my PS3, but does anybody knows a good (if any) OF for PS3????
And i one exists, any suggestions for a team to begin a new ML????

At the moment i'm playing a ML on PSP but the dificulty level on PSP is not an example of good balancing. Till level 3 is too difficult for me, level 2 is much too simple...
I have the impression the CPU "cheats"...and this is the first time i have this feeling (i know lots of people complained about this, but i never noticed it on PS2). In my Lens ML i decided to test it...my last match of the season was against NAC Breda (not the strongest team) and since i had nothing to loose (Lens ended second and could not promote) i decided to cheat and to replay the match until i won it...i tried 25 times (which was the absolute maximum, after all there seems to be a life apart from video games) and never ever could win. Now that could be because i'm pants (trust me, i am far from the best player) but i play a lot and so i think i'm not absolute pants...but the thing is the scenario was always the same: i'm attacking and missing sitters, NAC counters and scores a goal. Afterwards Lens totally dominates Nac and equalises. Lens goes for the winner but NAC wins with a late goal. 25 matches: 2-1...it's the first time i noticed it and it's really frustrating...
i never noticed this with PS2 PES...

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

I've always been aware of the scripting in the game. Some people see it, others deny it.

I'll probably start one final ML, perhaps once the new season gets underway and there's a new OF out.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Gerd, you may disagree and I respect that but honestly, I've seen that in the PS2 versions of PES a lot - even in the 360 version. The thing that's most annoying about those matches is that the winning goal always seems to be in the last three minutes. You can give them ten open goals and they'll hit it over the bar, but if they get the ball within the last few minutes, they could score through seven defenders, ten goalkeepers and a brick wall.

But in fairness, Konami aren't the only one to do that. Football Manager has gone the same way. I remember, when I was a lot younger and a lot more determined (or stupid?), I replayed a match from midnight until 5am in the morning. I must have tried 30 different formations, all kinds of different instructions, everything. Every single game, if you managed to score, they would score two. If you scored three, they would score four.

It's in other games as well. Possibly the worst case of this I've ever seen was in Tiger Woods 07 on the Xbox 360 (gulp, next-gen and everything, that's not good). Unbelievable. As people said on here, the AI was the perfect description of "rubber-band". You get a birdie, your opponent gets a birdie. If you hit it into the water twice, your opponent hits it into the water twice. :| It's very poor programming.

We're in an age now where the power is there to do a lot more. I hope that it's utilised, especially with FIFA and PES.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Well i've never noticed it...let's say it was too obvious in the PSP version that even i started to notice it...
To be honest, i'm relatively new to video games...it's not my medium...i'm aware of less obvious things in more ancient media like books, movies, television and the music industry. At my advanced age i'm still a relative (naïve, but isn't that a blessing sometimes) novice in all things concerning video games...I started playing video games at the age of 39 years...

HERTHA SEAL LUCAU DEAL

Chiguy Lucau

180x135_p61scabenM.jpeg

Srdjan Lakic

Hertha Berlin have signed Chiguy Lucau from French club Le Mans on a 4 year deal. The Berlin club swooped for the former PSG forward, a day after losing in-form striker Srdjan Lakic to top three side and Champions League regulars, PSV Eindhoven. Lakic, who cost the Dutch side €7 million, was a regular for Hertha under Professor Nutmeg and scored 12 league goals last season.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

AZ 67 get rid of Louis Van Gaal:

AZ67 's board have terminated Louis Van Gaal's contract.
They blame Van Gaal for loosing the last Dutch title in the last match of previous season.
With the new Euro League they are searching a new manager.
The new Euro League is a league contstituted of team from "lesser competitions": AZ67, Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV, Anderlecht and Club Brugge, Olympiakos, Dynamo Kiev, Rosenborg, Kopenhagen, Porto , Benfica and Sporting , Fenerbahce, CSKA Moskwa and Steaua Bucaresti.

Rumours are that former Belgian midfield general Wilfried Van Moer (Standard) would take over in Alkmaar.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Difficult start for AZ67: winning isn't easy.

Dynamo Kiev - AZ67 1-1
42' Rebrov
67' Boukhari

AZ67 - PSV 0-0

Celtic Glasgow - AZ67 3-3
4' Vennegoor of Hesselink
20' Koevermans
21 Vennegoor of Hesselink
53' Arveladze
72' Boukhari
92' Miller

AZ is currently 8th...

PS: in my previous post i obviously forgot both Celtic and Rangers...i guess two of the clubs i mentioned started in division 2...

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Gerd, i had a stunning game against PSV yesterday. I came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 a the Philips Stadion. Quite something, as PSV are generally title contenders.

I don't want to jinx myself, but it finally looks as if my Hertha are in the title race this season (for the first time since i took charge). I'm over halfway through the 09/10 season, with 12 games left. The Uefa Cup knock-out stages begin soon. I hope they don't dent my momentum.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Good luck Prof...hope you can win silverware with Hertha...
I was rather happy to have a draw against PSV...
I have finally found a PS3 option file (Milanista's)and it's a very good one, but i have the impression that AZ67 is somewhat underrated...

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

AZ67 - Anderlecht 1-0

24' Koevermans (Arveladze)

AZ67 - Feyenoord 2-1

8' Dembélé (Lens)
65' Dembélé (Cziommer)
83' Hofs (Huysegems)

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Good to see you still at it, Gerd. ;)

I like your never-say-die attitude.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

From German PC Gamestar Magazine:

"The PES-fans" have repeatedly requested the dive-feature, now we have implemented it into the game. If the new move does not get accepted, it will be gone next year", Konamis PR-Manager explains.

I wonder how this will turn out.

If the decisive goal is scored shortly before the end of the game, even the players on the bench in the background come running to join the celebration.

Sweet :)

This time a lot more teams are said to have original names and kits. In the pre-version the data was from the last season. The reason: license-negotiations are still in full progress.

Promising. Bundsliga perhaps? maybe more? I wonder if they'll add the MLS. It would be nice to see all the "Other" clubs licensed at least, eg Club Brugge, Anderlecht, etc etc I hope they add at least 2 more licensed leagues.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Quick PES6 question. Does anyone know if you still get the star/s above your crest (on your kit), after you win the league title?
It would be cool if they added a little cup logo on the sleeve or somewhere too, the season after winning the D1 Cup. A minor detail, but i'd like that :)

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Porto - AZ67 1-1

18' Vierinha (Quaresma)
63' Dembélé (Koevermans)

AZ67 - Sporting Lisboa 1-0

53' Koevermans (Martens)

AZ 67 are currently 5th

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Just to get this thread active (well not at this time!), i thought about asking these two questions.

What system are you getting PES2008 on & what team are you going to pick as for your first Master League?

For me i'll be getting it on the PS3 and i'll probably start with Napoli for my first ML.

I'll be of to sleep now.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Don't worry SB, my Hertha ML is still active. I've just been busy. Hope to post some more soon.

I'll be getting a PS3 at some point, so i'll get PES 2008 for it.

Teams - well it depends on the final club line-up. I have a short list of hopefuls, but it could potentially change with the sudden inclusion of a new league perhaps.

A question for you and Gerd too. Does the PS3 have memory cards like PS2? I know it has a hard drive. I'm just thinking how it will work when it comes to using option files. Does the Max drive work with PS3?

Hey Professor Nutmeg,

I don't think the PS3 has a memory card, i think you could just use any USB stick as sort of a memory card, which is good, because you can back it up straight into your PC.

So you can download option files into your USB stick, and transfer it into your PS3. Obviously there will be a renaming of the file, but that wouldn't be any trouble.

Also i heard you can transfer files wireless, through bluetooth technology, not completely sure about this.

If I magically come into a bit of money, I will playing the next PES on the PS3. If not, I will be stuck on the PC. Mind you I'd probably get the PC version eitherway just for the patching.

Won't decide on a team until we know for sure who will be in the game. But Napoli is an excellent choice and one that I was considering! :D
