The 3-Stars Cup
Hey guys! Here's a small update about my Bolton Wanderers save!
Been having a tough time deciding between PES 2010 and PES 2014. I'll let you guys know what my journey has been.
If you guys remember correctly, I played an entire Bolton season in PES 2010 first. After my first season was done, however, I kinda grew tired of it, and wanted to try the same story in a different edition. But check this out.. I found that I was doing something all wrong! Turns out I was playing with a gameplay mod that made the game too ping-pongy! I re-tried a Bolton vs Chelsea exhibition with the VANILLA gameplay and guess what.. Even though I lost 1-0, I really enjoyed it, as it was a way more realistic match and overall better experience than with the mod!
Now about PES 2014: Like @slamsoze remembers, I had quite a bit of trouble installing a patch which worked for my save, until I was finally able to download and apply PESEdit 4.4! But here's the thing.. I want to play with an intermediate speed setting (between 0 and -1), and probably 17 minute matches.. But guess what.. The PESEdit patch did not support the game editor (called file loader) which changes these settings! So now i am reinstalling the game, and will probably try "Fire Patch" which allows for these in-game changes!
As you guys can probably tell, I really like editing things such as speeder, match minutes, etc.. before starting my ML.
So now, I'm kind of at a crossroads:
- PES 2010 seems like a sure bet for me. Strangely enough, I seem to really like it even if it is not the most popular game. It kinda has an old-school PS2 era feel, but with much more beautiful graphics (man I love the palette). Some people reviewed it poorly, saying that it was too fast and too hectic, but setting Speeder at 0.94 really solves this issue for me, as it slows the matches down to a pace that I prefer.. And I'm quite enjoying the "ambiance" and vanilla gameplay with slowed down speeder in kitserver. I also see the advantages of having a much deeper Master League, with way more options than 2014.
- PES 2014 is definitely more of a challenge for sure. I played it quite a bit (even if I haven't been able to decide between 15 or 20 minutes, 0 or -1 speed), using a tool called "catchup removal tool" which takes care of the catchup bug in the game, and the gameplay is.. upredictable, chaotic, physical, and quite challenging. Pass assistance is quite different, and especially defending is really really different. I've lost many more games that I've won, and it seems that in the long-term it would be much more challenging to run an ML, even in Top Player, which is what I usually play, so that's interesting.. Even if ML in 2014 is really really basic, perhaps too basic.
So in a way it's going for a sure bet (2010) vs an unknown long-term experience (2014). This is where I'm at right now in trying to decide between these two editions.
Would like to hear your opinions bros!
