The Master League adventures thread

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Yeah, not a bad start Gerd. Arango is helping create chances for sure. Useful on the break and assists. Ibagaza looks to be the man at the moment, playing behind the striker with license to roam.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Stringer, i had Eremenko in PES4 (Wolfsburg).
I really liked him: good passer, scores goals...
Yep! I also had him in my ML when i was managing FC Utrecht.

The best team i've played against in PES6 is Man Utd, i played against them with Atalanta and they totally outplayed me twice...great, great team...wasn't even with their strongest line-up...
The best team i've played in my ML was Barcelona! Report coming soon...

Champions League Group Stage 2010 (final table)

barcelona_1.jpg

Barcelona send Sparta crashing down

FC Barcelona..........12
Bayern Munchen.....10
PSV Eindhoven.........8
Sparta Rotterdam.....4

Finished bottom of the group! :)

I thought maybe I could produce an upset against Barcelona but they done a double over me! Though it was a close game and could of easily ended in a draw. The CL group was really shit though, with me being drawn with my league counterparts Bayern and PSV #-o (Konami really needs to fix this aspect of the game) Anyways i've got the consolation of the UEFA Cup to look forward to...but, AGAIN, I’ve got a shit draw with PSV Eindhoven in the first round, which is so annoying since I’ve played them in the CL group stage and the league!! :eh: If I go through I might face Ajax or A. Madrid and I’m hoping the power of Iberian football can just edge out the Dutch master, just for this tie. :)

RESULTS:
Matchday 1: PSV Eindhoven 0-3 Sparta Rotterdam
Matchday 2: Sparta Rotterdam 2-3 FC Barcelona
Matchday 3: Sparta Rotterdam 0-3 Bayern Munchen
Matchday 4: Sparta Rotterdam 0-0 PSV Eindhoven
Matchday 5: FC Barcelona 2-1 Sparta Rotterdam
Matchday 6: Bayern Munchen 2-0 Sparta Rotterdam

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Tough group there Stringer...
I played Barcelona in the semi's of the CL with Atalanta.
Both legs ended 2-1 for the home team (with an injury goal by Messi in the second leg).Lost that match in penalties...
I played well, but to be honest Barcelona had bad luck. If Man Utd are the strongest team i played against, then Messi easily was the most impressive player i saw until now...this suits me because irl he's one of my favourites (and to be honest i would have him in one of my ML teams, but that would not be realistic since i play with "litle" teams).

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

hahahah, No problem PES King!

Glad to see Oost had made a good start for you (i wonder if i have to sell him then, since i don't let him start regularly :-k )!

LOL@ Bayer Leverkusen buying Huylens!

ps - like the way you put Ruud as Huylens first name lol.

Yeah, just being stereotypical :) First dutch name that came into my head. Oost has got 3 goals in 5 games and is proving to be a handful for the opposition. A good player to have in your squad. Nice free kick by the way :8): Good luck in the UEFA cup.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Well I've got my hands on an updated option file now, so expect my adventure at Watford to begin pretty soon.

@Pes King

Nottingham Forest is an excellent choice! A once mighty club which is struggling for survival in the lower leagues. I will been following your campaign closely.

3 hard games for Nantes. Especialy the one versus ASSE. I still can't manage to get the first win. If it goes the same way i will probably lose some of my leaders in the transfer window and it's gonna be even tougher... :(

Don't worry Re-arranged,i'm sure you can find a way to dig yourself out of the relegation zone! :) If you do lose some of your important players i the transfer window, try bringing in some players on loan from the second division!

UEFA Cup Round 1 Result

farfan.jpg

Farfan helps knock Sparta out of the UEFA Cup

Sparta Rotterdam 0

PSV Eindhoven 2
Farfan 58’
van Bueren (OG) 101’

PSV go through 2-1 on aggregate

Well my European cup run was fun while it lasted! :)

A bit disappointed I didn’t get through to the quarter-final, since I was 1-0 up in the first-leg, but I just didn’t take my chances in the second-leg. I had 22 shots on goal and PSV only had seven! Farfan was dangerous all throughout the match, he would just bully my defense every time he got the ball and it wasn’t a surprise when he got a goal in the second half. It went to extra time with my team having all the chances late on in the normal time, but didn’t take.....and it was all over when a PSV player put a cross in and the ball deflected of van Bueren and went into goal! #-o

Now it’s all about trying to win the league cup, due to my poor league form, that’s the only way I can qualify for Europe next season!

NCE Super League Division 1 / NCE D1 Cup

vittek.jpg

Man of the match, Vittek, scores a hattrick to help close the gap at the bottom of the table

Sparta Rotterdam 2
van Tornhout 14’
Vidarsson 45’

1. FC Nurnberg 5
Mintal 36’
Vittek 55’ 80’ 86’
Kvist 75’

Since my team was occupied with the European and league cup competitions I’ve dangerously kept my eye of the league. I’ve picked up a lot of bad results in the league due mainly to the fact I’ve been playing my substitute players in the league. Because of that I’m now second from bottom and facing a tough relegation battle. The lost against Nurnberg put me second from and their just one point behind me now! I was twice a goal in front, but let the lead slide and Nurnberg went on an onslaught in the second half!

LAST FIVE RESULTS:
FC Schalke 4-1 Sparta Rotterdam L
FC Groningen 2-1 Sparta Rotterdam L
Sparta Rotterdam 1-1 Bayer 04 Leverkusen D
Arminia Bielefeld 1-1 Sparta Rotterdam D
Borussia Dortmund 1-0 Sparta Rotterdam L

NCE League Division 1 (after week 26)
1 Bayern Munchen 48
2 Borussia Monchengladbach 48
3 Borussia Dortmund 41
4 AFC Ajax 38
5 Bayer 04 Leverkusen 36
6 PSV Eindhoven 35
-----------------------------------
14 Arminia Bielefeld 20
15 Sparta Rotterdam 19
16 1. FC Nurnberg 18

I’ve got eight matches left to drag myself out of the relegation and the teams I’ll be facing will be quite tough!

Week 27: Hamburg SV
Week 28: AFC Ajax
Week 29: Feyenoord
Week 30: VfB Stuttgart
Week 32: Bayern Munchen
Week 34: SV Werder Bremen
Week 35: Borussia Monchengladbach
Week 36: PSV Eindhoven

-

In the cup it’s much better news. I’ve beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-1 in the first-leg of the semi-finals, which puts me one step closer to the final with either Hambrug or Bayern Munchen (it looks like it’s going been Bayern since they won 0-4 in their away tie).

Here’s the matches I’ve played the results to all the matches I’ve played in the cup.

Round 1
1st Leg: Sparta Rotterdam 1-1 Borussia Dortmund
2nd Leg: Borussia Dortmund 0-1 Sparta Rotterdam
Sparta Rotterdam go through 1-2 on aggregate.

Quarter-Final
1st Leg: Sparta Rotterdam 4-2 FC Schalke 04
2nd Leg: FC Schalke 04 0-0 Sparta Rotterdam
Sparta Rotterdam go through 2-4 on aggregate.

Semi-Final
1st Leg: Sparta Rotterdam 1-1 BBayer 04 Leverkusen

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Good luck in both the relegation battle and the cup Stringer, i know some relegated teams have actually played European football winning the Cup.
But let's hope you win the cup and avoid reegation.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

yawn, the latest transfers at lens (monterrubio in, thomert and jussie out) have made it far too easy to play with them, really...I'm think of another ligue 1 team to start a master league with...

what do you guys think about stade rennais?

FOREST 2006 SEASON REVIEW

The 2006 British Championship season started with so much optimism for Forest with the appointment of manager Nigel Clough and after a good start things slowly went into decline. With promotion hopes virtually over by the winter break the best Forest could have hoped for where 3rd place and at one point did occupy 3rd thanks to the form of transfer window signing Jason Oost. Getting Knocked out of the Johnstone’s paint trophy at the semi final stage had a massive effect on Forest and ended up finishing 7th in the league. To add to the disappointment Forest were named 72nd in the latest UEFA rankings.

friio-david.jpg

Minanda,will he stay

Despite this, the Nottingham Forest board have issued a public backing of the manager stating that they believe that Clough is still the man to lead them to the British Premiership and they will make funds available to Nigel to help this cause.

The manager will certainly have a job on his hands trying to keep his star players at the club including Portuguese playmaker Luis Minanda and Australian Winger Mike Burchet whose contracts are almost up.

does anyone else think the PES6 master league is the hardest yet because i've never failed promotion on the top difficulty on previous versions even with the default players. Or am i going crazy!

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Hmm, I don't know about that. Every ML i've played has been rather too easy.

I haven't played with the default players since the days where you were forced to go with them.

Saying that, I do let in alot more goals in PES6, although recently I have learnt some defensive strategies to counter the fact that players can easily jink (or brush) past you.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

PES king, i agree with you...i'm currently playing "professional" and it's hard...my next Ml will be on the highest difficulty level, but i'm not sure i would do well with the default crew...it's been quite a long time since i played with them...

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Update on FC Reading season:

With 3 matches to go (FC kobenhavn, Wigan Athletic and Sheffield Utd) Reading are almost promoted.
They still are second, three point behind laeders West Ham United, a team they 've just beaten 0-1 in a rather fortunate way (by a Pantsil own goal). Third Charlton is 5 points behind Reading.
Reading will also play the final of the division 2 Cup, this after two well disputed matches against Sheffield United.

Reading - Sheffield Utd 1-1

Lita (Doyle)
Li Tie (Hulse)

Sheffield Utd - Reading

Hulse (Gillespie)
Doyle (Kitson)
Kitson (Cox)

I haven't got the faintest clue against which team my team will play the final (some manager i am!!!)

What is peculiar this ML is the fact that the top scorer of my team is...the other players....loads of own goals by the other teams: 6....strange....rather lucky.

Home Sweet Home for Eyres

Joseph Levin- Reuters, London

The hornets have officially unveiled their new manager at a news conference today at Vicarage Road. The much travelled manager has returned to his local area after successful stints at various clubs across the world. The young teenager has achieved several top flight honours, including the La Liga title (Sociedad), the Italian Cup (Torino), the FA Cup (Everton) and a Champions League runner up meddle recently with Torino.

At the press conference today, Eyres spoke of his delight to be at a Club that has played a massive part in his life and his first alluring to football.

“My first ever experience of a live football match, was at Vicarage Road. My father was a dedicated fan who travelled across the country to every Watford game. Whilst, he never persuaded me to support the hornets, I have always had a soft spot for the club. I’ve also been fiercely proud of my local area, and I feel it’s my duty to give all I can to rescue this club”

When asked about his preference to take over the reins at Watford, despite interest from some of the biggest clubs on the planet, Eyres made is clear that a new challenge was in order.

“This club is in danger of returning to the lower leagues, the talent drain is accelerating and the finances are on icy waters. This job will almost certainly be a challenge to my managerial skills, but I also have a deeply rooted interest in seeing this club return to not only relative safety, but to firmly establish the team as a regular premiership team”

Eyres has officially confirmed speculation that he would bring back key figures from Watford’s past to take their place in the backroom staff. John Barnes has been appointed at the director of football at the club and Graham Taylor has returned to assist Eyres in a coaching role. Luther Blisset is also reported to be giving advice to Eyres on a regular basis.

The footballing world will be watching on with eager interest to see if this promising young manager can achieve his consistent high levels of success with a club with a comparatively small squad and extremely limited finances.

The club Chairman, Graham Simpson has express his delight at the appointment of Eyres

“Eyres has a proven track record across Europe, and he is still very much in the prime of his life. I think his appointment could potentially be the biggest moment in Watford’s history since the days of the club’s rapid assent into Division 1”

Nantes ML

Thx, Stringer, i hope i can actually get my first win as soon as possible, cos neither team stockholders nor supporters are happy with the results.

Alex, why don't u try to have a go with Nice or Le Mans. However Rennes is also a good choice.

Nantes News

In todays press-conference Ms. Ross revealed some interesting news: "Me and the boys try to do our best but something seems to be goin' wrong. I will have to make some organisational changes in the nearest future. I've already made an appointment with Marcel Desailly and he is eager to come back to his former club but as a coach this time. Patrice Loko has also shown great interest in working for his native club. Will try to sign Christian Karambeu for scouting department aswell."
If everything goes as planned it's gonna be really interesting to see how these four (Ross - Desailly - Loko - Karambeu) can drag Les Canairs out off this long-term crisis.

BOAVISTA SOCIAL CLUB

s1_buymgr.jpg
s1_buymgr2.jpg
s1_buymgr3.jpg

Espanyol pulled off a sensational double coup last night, just hours before the transfer window slammed shut.

Having completed a tour of Denmark and Germany, a seemingly mundane Montujic press conference after the game against Panathanikos (organised as part of the Ivanschitz deal) transformed in into a hive of activity.

News broke that President Guillem Balague had secured not only the services of Boavista striker Roland Linz for 5000 but his manager too in the shape of Andre Agassi lookalike Jaime Pacheco.

The arrival of another striker was a fairly big surprise, particularly with many of the club's fans expecting to see a defensive purchase, although the young Austrian had previously caught Espanyol's eye last summer. However it is the new coach's announcement which was greeted with first incredulity then shock particularly in Portugal where Pachecho had been in the middle of a third spell at the Estadio do Bessa in charge of Porto's second club.

The sight of the Panthers bespectacled and owlish President João Loureiro appearing on RTP barely able to contain his wrath at the "betrayal" added to the sense of drama, as a man not even on the most outlandish pundits shortlist takes over one of Spain's most traditional teams.

With the 2007/08 season beginning in earnest in a few days, it gives the Portuguese little time to generate a rapport with his new players or establish any kind of new system or philosophy. However contradictorily this may take some of the pressure off a manager who split the dominance of the Big 3 in his homeland and reached the semi finals of the UEFA Cup.

After the disappointing and sterile nature of the Valverde regime, only time will tell whether a third offensive arrival will prove to be wise or foolhardy, but the competition for places up front now seems adequate for a team with aspirations as one of the county's elite. If Pacheco can get the best of this Quartet and also coax added creativity from Ivanschitz and De La Pena, then perhaps the Canaries faithful are in for a campaign that really can deliver more than just empty promises.

Nice one denirobob! I remember that UEFA cup semi-final with them and Celtic, Boavista tried there best to dive their way into the final lol! If Boavista did go through there could of been a all Portuguese final!

Also denirobob you should try and use target links for your site.

Pre season transfers

It’s been a very busy time at the city ground during the transfer window. 4 players have left the club this summer with 2 coming in. Experienced players Luis Minanda and Mike Burchet have pledged their future to the club signing one year deals each. The biggest news is the capture of Marlon Harewood, who returns to the club where he first made his name.

1034.jpg

Harewood: pleased to be back

“ West ham have a lot of quality strikers” he said. “ With names like Tevez, Cole, Zamora and Sheringham I was not seeing as much first team football as I would have liked. I am sad to be leaving West Ham and I wish them all the best in the premiership but I am looking forward to playing for the club where it all began. I do not see this move as a step down. Nottingham Forest is a massive club with some great names and I look forward to be playing with fellow strikers Jason Oost and Castolo”.

West ham almost immediately replaced Harewood with young Spanish forward Miguel Ordaz. Manager Nigel Clough was reluctant to let him go but admits he cannot wait for Harewood and Oost to score the goals that will put them back into the big time. “ I’m almost drooling from the mouth thinking about what these to can do together. They were awesome in our recent pre season tour of Germany and I’m very optimistic with the new season only a week away”.

Forests other big signing is the versatile Phil Jagielka whose main position is centre midfield but can play centre back and on the odd occasion in goal. The player admits he is reluctant to leave Sheffield but understands the club needs the money. “ I’ve had some great times at Sheffield United. Neil Warnock didn’t want to lose me but his hands were tide and was sad to see me go” Rumours are going around that Warnock has privately admitted that he is furious with the boards decision to let Jagielka go to a rival club in the promotion race and is seriously considering his future.

Pre season round up

Harewood uses his strength to force a goal in the 22nd minute. Lovenkrands sets up Lincoln for the equaliser on the stroke of half time. Jason Oosts headed goal in the 74th minute wins the game for Forest.

Stuttgart 0-4 Nottingham Forest

2 goals in the first 10 minutes from Jason Oost gives them the early lead. Fernando Meira is sent of in the 22nd minute for a professional foul. Harewood adds a third in the 60th minute and Jagielka piles more misery on Stuttgart with a goal in injury time.

Bayer Leverkusen 0-2 Nottingham Forest

Oost and Harewood link up beautifuly as Oost drives home a fantastic 30 yard effort. A Penalty in the 80th Minute was successfully converted by Harewood to keep Forest unbeaten in pre season.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Yeah, but unfortunately in PES if you get relegated there's no European competition. :)

@Peter Eyres, Good luck with Watford mate. How are you going to play (formation, lineup etc)?

Well from what I can see, Watford's strength lies in exactly that, strength. Mahon and Francis add steel to the midfield, and I am confident that they can protect the back four. Mind you Shittu is always there in the middle if needs be.

I will probably try a 4-4-2 with Mahon playing slightly deeper in midfield. Upfront, King is dangerous on the counter attack, he has pace and strength, and Kabba isn't too shabby in that department either. Henderson is also another option but he's not the best finisher in the world.

I will try and get Smith in advanced roles either on the wing, or behind the strikers. And McNamee also offers pace down the wing.

I usually go for a period of experimentation formation wise when things don't exactly go to plan.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

PES King, nice signs there Jagielka and Harewood are both quality players.

Desailly to take up a coaching job at Nantes

Two very one-sided games and as a result two routs see Les Canairs' manager Georges Eo fired. His replacement was announced on the press-conference later this day - Marcel Desailly ex-French NT Captain and former Nantes player.

"I'm very proud to come back to the club where i've started my professional career and which gave me fantastic starting platform for my future sucess. We are in the hard situation at the moment but we'll try to do our best to stay in the elite division for the next season... Special thanks to Ms. Ross for this great job proposal i had no other option but to accept it." - Desailly said.

Then president Martin Ross took his word:"I'm very proud to see Marcel at the coaching role. I belive that we can now take the club to the new heights and bring back the glory of the past days. However Mr. Desailly is only the first part of the reorganization process that is to take place in the nearest future. I can't give you the names right now, but u'll be as excited as i am when u hear them."
