Spanish La Liga Thread

The Jonathan Wilson one is really great. Guy has an outstanding football knowledge. Talking about Iberians, Luís Freitas Lobo, Julio Maldonado and Michael Robinson are among my favourites. There's also another one about finances called "The Swiss Ramble".

Thanks for the list Steve. I'll bookmark them and then give them a read later.

+1

I have loved reading his articles on Argentinian and Uruguayan football. He wrote two great articles (#1, #2) on Oscar Washington Tabárez and Uruguayan football during last year's Copa America that gave me a lot of good insight into a how a country that small continues to produce some of the best players in the world.

And if people are not sick enough of Jonathan Wilson, I would highly recommend reading his book on the history of football tactics: "Inverting the Pyramid." Another really insightful read.

Oh, and one more: The Blizzard is also run by Wilson. It is DEFINITELY worth paying a couple bucks every four months for.

Yeah, no problem. I hope you enjoy reading them.

Now, if only I could get my players to do the same...

Cool. So you're a manager then? What club? I coach as well. Probably not at the level you coach though. I coach in the Business Professional Soccer League where I live.

Shocking, he was just named the Villareal coach as well as having some horrific misfortune with his family.

Wow!! :SHOCK:

Really sad news! :(

I still remember his WAR with Mourinho! This guy was not to be messed with!

Too much stress perhaps. RIP Manolo!

R.I.P Manuel Preciado..

The history of this men is terrible...

in 2002 his woman dead..
3 years later dead his youngest child (he have 2 sons)
Today, die he...

Now, The Preciado's eldest son, is alone..

tragic family

:CRY:

Too much stress perhaps. RIP Manolo!

after that WAR, they became close friends

Mourinho expresses his condoleances to Manolo's father death ..

then Manolo changed his mind about Mourinho and they became friends

Sad news indeed. I liked him and I can't understand why the idiots at Sporting Gijón sacked him to put the stupid Clemente there.

RIP.

terrible news, i've always liked him... as a coach, and even more as a person. he was always so direct and sincere. i'm really sorry he's gone. may he rest in peace.

Alright I need some info. on the Malaga business they need to settle debts by 31 July ,or face relegation to Second Division B and the loss of their Uefa licence and Champions League participation?

WTF!!!!

Since buying the club and becoming president, Al-Thani has invested over €60m in playersand taken Málaga to Champions League qualification for the first time. Now, though, there is silence. Neither the owner nor his vice-president are currently in Spain, as has been the case for much of the last year, leaving Málaga in limbo. José Carlos Pérez, the club's consejero, essentially the man running the day-to-day business, died in the spring and the general manager, Fernando Hierro, who had been forced to intervene last season when players had gone unpaid, resigned saying he was no longer "comfortable" in his role.

the other news is Villarreal are suing them too for unpaid €3.5m and some players not getting paid :CONFUSE: This is not pompey !!! The rich owners better unlatch the flow of crude oil drums FAST! :LOL:

I only found out ,because They asked Wenger about rumors of Cazorla, as he grinned he said "I don`t know this guy" :LOL:

Málaga is in such dire state...The owner told the club no money will come in by short or medium efforts. The club will need to sell 3 top players to be able to pay the salary of the employees. Also, the club is up for sale so they won`t fall into division 2 or opt CL.

The director Antonio Fernandez was told to leave and Pellegrini himself would be better off to leave. The machinery that made the club move is at a stand still and is leaking oil. What puzzle me is they made history 4th spot and CL .... This means money was short 4 or 5 month ago? I truly doubt it, The project stopped, some are saying the only motives the owners had was to buy a club and build a resort in the city which was denied to them. So, in short they spend a lot to cover up their real intention. Now, they decide to pull the plug. Many thought this club was going to break into the top 3 of the league....time to wake up!

Rondo -?
Cazorla - Arsenal(£17.5m) ;)
Toulalan -?

Yeah this is all a BIG MESS!!

You could've seen maybe something like this happening if Malaga had failed and finished like 8th or something but they made CL! Finished 4th for first time! They have a good squad, good manager and could have easily BUILT further on this and become a great team just like they were supposed to.

Now instead, they MAKE CL and instead of strengthening squad, they have to sell best 3 players? :LOL:

This is so strange and weird!

They have a lot of useful players who could do a job for other teams. It's a shame the way this 'project' suddenly dismantled!

Además de la venta de Cazorla al Arsenal, el Málaga intentará vender a los jugadores que sean sus principales capitales: Monreal, Isco, Toulalan, Joaquín y Rondón.

the players that can get the most captial :CONFUSE:
Cazorla= done! €23.5m
Toulan = €10m
Joaquin= €8m
Monreal = €14m
Rondon = €17m

problem solve? Well, Weligton said we have a good core squad n play with reserve if we have too! :COAT:

this story has me closely monitor the situation

Barca bought the ref again.

Will you please shut your mouth! Please refrain from speaking about the game when you have nothing constructive to say! Seriously, between you and jihado...I get it: You dislike Barceona, which is fine, but to insinuate over and over and over again that there are people or organizations conspiring to give Barcelona unfair advantages is absolutely ridiculous. Referees make errors. Get over it!

Enjoyable game overall, was expecting a lot worse at this very early stage so I guess I made a good decision staying at home instead of going down to Cascais like I told bebo in the other topic.

As for the ref, I agree with Kanouté, probably the best display in a Clasico so far. I think Pedrito was offside when they scored the first goal but hey tough call that one.

It's not a mistake when you do it over and over again. I don't care who the ref is, Barca has the money to spend over any ref on the world.
