Spanish La Liga Thread

I laughed so bad after reading this. I found that a player (Pepe) received an yellow card for faking an aggression when in fact he was punched in his face causing him an hemorrhage on his lips. Then, I also found that Özil got a red card because he applauded the ref. It's the very time I see a ref throwing a straight red for this.

Ridiculous.

Ridiculous were the two penalties Villareal didn't get.

Madridistas should stop MOUning. How quickly they forget the game against Betis, two handballs in the box. Get off your high horse, Madrid did not deserve to win. Madrid played like crap yesterday and had seen these two past results coming.

Madrid had been off form, and Mourinho had started with the "trivote" and then realized his idiocy and had to use up one of his substitutions in the 29th minute. All in all, the result was not affected by the referee. Even Marca has called the ref decision correct in the red cards.

Oh, and the classy gestures from Ronaldo and Pepe. Bunch of classless twats.

I should never see a Madridista or a Cule complaining about refs, not with their resources compared to the other 18 teams in the league.

Mate, there's no such thing as "Madridistas MOUning", I don't care who he benefits the most, this ref should never be allowed to ref again. Last week he totally screwed Real Zaragoza. Unbelievable.

Maybe one should stop projecting balkan mentality to Spain? I don't want to sound racist or disrespectful, but i don't understand why people bother to even answers some of the posts in this thread. I haven't seen the match and i couldn't care less...

Hell i hope next season will be a race between Athletic de Bilbao and Sevilla and that both Real Madrid and Barcelona would play mid table...

Both teams are constantly moaning about cheating and unfair advantages. They both have unfair advantages because of the way the television money is divided both in Europe and in Spain...God i hope the CL final will not be between those two clubs...i don't want them to play against each other for the next 50 years...The 5-0 last season seemed a triumph for football but in retrospect it was a curse because it only augmented the tension. Nowadays both clubs don't bother to play football, something in which they are very good, but for some reason don't bother anymore.

I feel the same way.

What a joy it was having Valencia and Deportivo challenge for and win titles (Valencia) to show these 2 super power bastards to stop being so spoilt. That shut up these fans for a good while.

All we EVER hear from Barca and Real fans is CONSTANT MOANING! And it's such hypocrisy because they're the ones who get MOST decisions going their way throughout the course of the season compared to other teams and secretly deep down they KNOW it anyway yet still moan! Not to mention the incredibly unfair resources, money, etc.

The real losers in this are teams like Betis. But Real fans have the nerve to complain about refs (when yes admittedly, they were somewhat unlucky) when really they should've gotten a draw against Betis and not 3 points and if it wasn't for refs, they wouldn't have.

Same goes for Barca fans. Always moaning about decisions Real gets and how they're the capital club and have all the media in their pocket, etc. etc.

Can't wait for Bilbao to beat Barca in Copa Del Rey and for Bayern to eliminate both of them from CL.

And ridiculous were two Villarreal players with 2 yellow cards and none of them sent off

There was a mistake because of the TV cameras, it seemed like Paradas was booking Ruben in the first yello, but he was booking Senna I believe. So no, that was a mistake from the TV producers who thought the yellow was to Ruben.

El Acta, the post game report from the ref, says so. No mistake there. The only mistake against Madrid was the yellow to Pepe, but you can hardly compare a yellow against two blatant penalties.

mate, look at Liga BBVA site

1st half

Dude, the site's live play by play also gets their information from the TV transmission. The refs report says otherwise. Stop MOUning.

That's a ferocious rivalry. New York - New Jersey is always intense no matter what sport they play. C'mon NY kick their ass out of the rink!

If Madrid's coach and players continue to behave like they did after the Villareal match, they will hand la Liga on a plate to Barcelona.
There are 6 points between both teams, i think Real will bottle it and Barcelona will win La Liga.
Who is responsible for this: Mourinho.

Its effectively a 3 point lead, Title race back on! I would worry for Mourinho if they fail to get themselves over the line.

this is a scandal...

pepe 2 match only...
sergio ramos....0!! 0!! incredible...red card removed

corruption committees in Spanish...I'm sick ...

Is is true the ref got banned for life? That's just sad if true. You could tell that all the moaning from Mourinho and the Madrid bench got on his nerves during the game and he just lost control.

Real played bad. They should deal with it.

No, zeem, you are mixing two refs here, he he.

The ref of Villarreal - Madrid simply was criticized to death by Madrid at all levels, reaching ridiculous heights and insults. Pepe called the ref "motherf..." as well as Mourinho, and the scandal here is that the ban comittee ( of which I talked previously and has a lot of ocnnections with Madrid itself) considered that "motherf..." is not an insult. Yep, is THAT scandalous. In the Spanish league rules, insulting the ref should imply a ban of minimum 4 matches. Pepe got only 2.

Mourinho got 1 and the best of all is that Ramos didnt get any ban even if hes was sent off and his second tackle was straight an aggression. In Spain we all know the committees... It's so sad. As a comercial product, La Liga is shit compared to the Premier.

Someone with the history of Pepe wouldnt be allowed to behave like this.

Now to the other ref. The one who was on Betis - Madrid. He got injured at halftime and had to quit the match. He has retired because he thinks the committees are a joke and that Sanchez Arminio and Florez ( of which you can search my post talking about them) are destroying the referees reputation.

might seem strange, but I have to agree with you drekkard.

Only thing that I would add is that referee of Villarreal-RM match should at least get 1 or 2 matches off because he let the game slip away from him. And that all started when for first foul of the game he showed yellow card. From there on he had to continue with that or else we would be talking about different criteria.

thing is barca shoots themselves in the foot every-time one goes to ground it`s a 50/50 ?.... if it`s legit foul or not. Today, Pereira made 2 tackles (Busquet,Puyol) both replay showed NO-contact and one he was shown a yellow . I know most teams does it, Kosci a Defender for Arsenal went to the ground rolling holding his face vs Everton when Cahil looked to have scored. Since, the play went to Arsenal`s favor , kosci gets up w/o any hesitation  very ugly and embarrassing. If ,3 to 4 players begin to do that they`ll never get a free kick imo . It`s hard to be un-tagged once tagged (labeled as )

i saw the match and didnt see those divings you mention bebo. I saw several exagerations andsome diving for BOTH teams, and I also saw the referee sending off Thiago wrongly, as well as yellow carding puyol wrongly. i also saw a pathetic pitch with the grass being uncared for the whole week, which I presume it is quite unsportive as well. i dont think Barcelona players dive more than the average in the league. not if you have seen all matches this season.

Some barcelona players will dive now and then as do all players of all teams, but please watch that video and tell me in which of those 15 penaltys can you see a single dive. the last time we were awarded a dubious penalty was 4 seasons ago. besides, Messi may be the only great dribbler who never dive. how come they dont award him any penalty since 2010? it's just ridiculous!

Well, your arguments are valid and for me to point , or explain each dramatic fall is looking at it w/ a pinch of salt. How can I take speed/reaction/ ref`s mental state to make a well process point. I merely stating an unproven theory . The dramatic feints Busquet n Puyol did were about 10 minutes apart in the 2nd half tbh at 1st it looked valid I only mention it due to replaying the footage and commentators aving a chuckle about it.

The vid of "pens not given" is incriminating to back up the claims that Barca don`t get pens. The pitch was weird ,but get use to it Milan will release gophers of epic proportions on their pitch once Barca does their travels over there.
gopher-look-like-5.jpg

The pitch at Iberostar Stadium, had dark green spot like they put colour dye over the dry mud puddles or clearly trying to cover something  My bet was water dissolve the colouring .I`m really not sure why Barca fans feel so discriminated , not just you I hear this argument more then a few rants it has become so bothersome it`s developed into a complex. Messi`s goal most likely would of not counted in the EPL, Sanchez ran into gk  even if the ball enter slightly 1st, just saying...half empty or half full :)

Oh well, the weird thing with referees is that they are only blatantly bad to us on penalties, but on the rest of the pitch, they have the usual good and bad calls. I don't feel at all the refs have anything against us or against any other team.... except on penalties. It's odd, that's why I have posted about it many times.

There have been matches in which the referees have had bad calls (for instance sending off Thiago unfairly) and others in which they have been good for us (mainly against Atlético), but that's how it's supposed to be! Good and bad calls, they are human! And at the end of the season, there's some kind of balance on the long run. I mean, referees can't be blamed at all... except for the low average of penalties we have.

Some players having a tendency to exagerate falls it's not a good argument about the penalties because:

1- If the referees think our players dive, they wouldn't allow us free kicks around all the pitch. It's strange that we are the team with more fouls awarded out of the area, yet the moment we step inside you have to be killed to be awarded a penalty. We have the lowest average of penalties awarded per attack in all Europe. If it's a matter of the referees thinking our players dive, they would show a yellow, isn't it? And stop awarding us fouls in the midfield as well!

2- All the players in La Liga of all teams do exagerate falls. It's a cultural thing. I hate it, but it's like this. I've seen countless ridiculous falls of strikers playing against us, and defenders going to the floor feigning injuries to stop the play every week, or committing brutal tackles and saying they touched the ball... I would say La Liga needs an overhaul of the comittees and referees. They need to stop being random and define and apply a good set of rules as other professional competitions do.

They need to stop the cheating AND the violence and make referees respected. Pepe called a referee "motherf.." and wasn't even considered an insult! Come one, where are we going then?

So, it's not moaning for unfairness, we're being robbed, etc... That's bullshit. The Barcelona team, THIS team, should be above it and will win or loose because of himself. It's only that the penalties case it's so freaking odd!

PS: 9 starting players from La Masia against Mallorca. And 11 took part in the game overall! How many teams can say this since the Bosman law?

Well if we're counting points of future matches, make it 2 because you are implying Real lose the Clásico which means they'll be 2nd on head-to-head.
Except it's not so easy. Yeah, I look at the next fixtures, I see rather easy trips for Barcelona, rather difficult ones for Madrid and I have faith that Barca will not lose more easy points - yet this season showed us it's always a possibility and with 2/4 complicated Ch.L games we might smell a cousin of the "fifa virus" - either by being tired or overconfident after a match.

I'd say let's stick to 6, or a more probable 5 as even if I take into account Barca not winning "the Game", it's rather unlikely they'll lose 3-0/3-1 at home (the smallest score that allows Madrid to win the H2H)

The League is alive, but we'll have to be great and hope for another Madrid freak-out. Thankfully they seem prone to hissy-fits (...which shouldn't happen with such a league advantage on their hands).
As Barcelona aren't allowed any league mishaps, I believe the reason why Guardiola keeps repeating "The League is over" [even though he can't believe it] is so that in case of a bad outcome the team won't drop dead and lose it all. Never forget, a possible Ch.L final as well as the Cup final are played well after La Liga is over.

Drekkard ,
FC Barcelona are a model club no doubt and fans are utter rich kids (spoil-wise) . Pepe is like a career criminal that never do enough time while other 1st time offenders get the book thrown at them. Like a thug that gets shot, ran over and still lives. While a model citizen dies from falling off a ladder trying to rescue a kitten.

I would agree it`s become a culture and technical football tends to be effective when the game stops. I know trying to stop Barca is such a hard task it`s almost impossible doing it fairly. If , they play direct there are ways but ping pong passing is hard enough on the eyes much less trying to stop it w/ your body. The fact we are witness such volume of players going through the ranks is amazing . Arteta came through the ranks and even he is a class player imo .Nothing like the new gen. but is like the new model professional at The Arsenal.

tonight proved that La Liga is strongest and most attractive league in world this season and maybe beyond..

FC Barcelona - CL semi-final
Real Madrid - CL semi-final
Atletico Madrid - EL semi-final
FC Valencia - EL semi-final
Athletic Bilbao - EL semi-final

This generation in Spanish football is scary! The players are all still very young.

How are they in terms of passing England in the UEFA coefficients?

don´t know guys but since i watch more La Liga than EPL on tv i found out that people who think PL is better than La Liga don´t watch La Liga very often... :D

it´s cazy how much talent there is ... even in Segunda division there are better matches than some Premier league bottom teams...

and i love Premier league to be honest..
