PS2 will still be the greatest console ever. What a generation. Nowadays the gameplay really lacks. As shown with the trailer. It's the same game I have played 100+ hours with a fresh coat of paint. What a sad generation to be a gamer. Even casino is more rewarding. Hugely disappointing.

We won’t see a huge step like with PS2 ever again. I keep that in mind as good memory.

Imo, you just can’t compare it one on one.

Add to that how young you were and how much of a budget you had/how much you valued ONE title.

That’s my story at least.
 
It should be the same size as both ssd disks are doing the same thing, one pulls data from disks and from online, the other exclusively from online. And if for some reason they would put a bigger ssd in there, it would become more expensive, which would defeat the purpose of making two different systems.
If I used it only for games I would just get the diskless system, but I still have/buy just enough movies to want a disk drive. And I don't really have room for this and a PS4 in my setup.

And that is the reason I am buying the version with the disc drive..

You can't seem to get Playstation games cheap from anywhere digitally without creating an Indonesian PSN account.
Least with Xbox places like CDKeys sell them cheaper.

+ Since I don't game on console, I only buy the odd exclusive which is completed and sold normally within a month.

So what does that mean for the price of the console? Do you see them like 50 Dollar apart?!
Both consoles are the same, except the drive. 50 bucks is a bit much for just a drive these days, isn’t it?!
Can’t wrap my head around the price philosophy.

Going on the price of Blu-ray drives, I would think maybe £50 - £70 difference in price.

If I wouldn’t rely on discs I’d go for the cheaper version. But hey...
Still. 50-70 bucks is a lot for just a drive!

Edit: maybe it works out over time as disc games are available cheaper. So the 50 bucks more are well spent.

Idk, it just looks odd.

Yeah probably in general, here in Iceland though, absolutely not. Cheaper for me to buy on uk psn than in a store. I think I have about 3 games on disk for PS4. Plus the PSN sales, they are frequent, pretty sure there is a sale on something at any given time.

Both Xbox and Sony consulted with me regarding console design. Both CEOs are big fans of my previous analysis.
 
I just realised that there isn't even one monitor on the market who is available to do 1440p120Hz or 2160p120Hz what the PS5 offers because it needs HDMI 2.1 and no monitor exists with HDMI 2.1.

I was excited to use my 1440p144Hz monitor with the PS5 but didn't have a clue this will not work and can only do 1080p120Hz or 1440p60Hz because of HDMI 1.4.

Fortunately my LG OLED E9 TV is able to do 2160p120Hz.

So i want ask, wiil the final performance on screen be affected if my TV is semi-potato? I mean 40'', 1080p/1080i resolution. How can i know that my TV is HDMI 2.1? Checked on internet on the store i bought it and it is not written in the details.
*By affected i mean some serious issues, like when you were playing PS3 with a SCART instead of HDMI.

your tv isnt! ;)

its just a few tv's supporting that right now. Some LG OLEDS do. some other may as well... but its the minority right now.
if you are getting a new 4k tv, have a look if it features hdmi 2.1!

imo, the minimum tv feature (in reg. to PS5) should be 4k resolution with HDR. sure, the cherry on top (and if i had to buy one this year) would be 2.1 (future proof).

i myself, ill stick to my late 2016 55" KS9090 (4k HDR, nothing special but still very good quality today). will have that TV for at least 5 more years (even when i want an OLED). next big upgrade could be PSVR2.0 (if it evolves as i think) instead of a new tv. immersion in sim racing games i'm loooking forward to. for series and film purposes i'll stick with the KS9090!

its like with smartphones... i like to keep these expensive gadgets for a few years... then trying to make a noticable step forward. as tech evolves pretty fast these days i'm good with that method. might be different if i had a cash cow! :) but i'm happy with what i have (first world probs here really, imo)!

Thanx dude, i mean upgrading TV is a defining moment when you buy a PS5, or i can keep up with my commom-man TV? without needing a super-duper OQLED-curved,4K-8K etc..

you can surely play all those lovely titles in 1080/60. how old is your tv?
when i'm at my mothers place i see my old 40" Sony LCD (11 years) and when i see the difference in pixels sometimes (1080 > 4k), the brightness is whats really striking here!!
a bet the old one is only around 150-250 cd/m2 max. (if that was a thing back then)! my current one is around 500 cd/m2 . and, afaik, current gen TV's hover around 1000 cd/m2.
anyway... there is a lot of stuff coming together here (colors, resolution, os, remote, sound, features, budget, design).

one rule of thumb i always followed (and i sold these tv's for a few years), dont buy the latest lineup. always go for a model a year before. price/value is soooo much better, imo! feel free to ask if you have further Q's!

There won't be any issues, I just wanted to mention it because I can imagine a lot of people will buy PC monitors in 4k or 1440p with 120hz or higher now, thinking they can achieve the high resolutions with high frame rates. Let's be true, how many people know that no monitor on the market offers HDMI 2.1 and exactly that is needed to get the full potential out of the PS5.

Well, let's see, maybe there will be an Adapter in the future or monitors will be released. Actually there is only the Eve Company who announced a HDMI 2.1 Monitor.
