Real Madrid Thread

The defense is in transition.

Carvajal > Arbeloa. The transition just needs time.
Varane > Ramos/Pepe. It has already started, he will come back after the injury and push one of those to the bench.
The other one needs replacement, and I see Nacho as a great, fast CB. Iñigo Martínez may be signed too for this.
Marcelo is a fantastic LB, and he defends by draining his opponent's stamina while he's attacking.

I think the problem is in replacing Xabi. Illarramendi might do to replace him, but he's not there yet. Xabi Alonso is one of the best passers (especially long range) there has ever been in modern football, period. His accuracy and consistency is plain nuts, and he also holds the midfield with intelligent pressure, not aimlessly running around.

Offense will not be a problem with Real, what's needed is an ability to keep and move the ball fast to create spaces. Modric can do that. Xabi can do that. Isco can do that. Looking good!

Modric been splendid this year, I almost forgot how great of player he is. Özil's departure benefited him greatly.

To think Isco was replacing Ozil. Modric has been so vital and the biggest surprise has to be Jese. He is so good and raw the coach is loving the carving of this player.

Yeah, Jesé is booming, he's like what: 5 Goals already and he only started 3 out of his 15 matches this season, incredible.

I really miss Isco, but due to Modric's and Di María's forms lately, he just couldn't get ahead.

and to add to Jese, he scored his 5 goals in his last 5 6 games.

as for Modrić, this season made it obvious how much he missed pre-season training with team last season. Now that he did whole pre-season with a team he is at the top of his game.

must be 5 in last 6. he didn't score in the 2nd leg of copa semis (played the last 15 mins though). whatever, he's gaining some confidence and well done to the lad. props to ancelotti as well.

cheers, mate.

just had a look at his overall stats from this season. he's now scored 6 goals in his last 7 starts and the total number of his goals is 8 so far, the other two being against valencia and barcelona, as a substitute.

so many acl tears this season: walcott, kuba, subotic, strootman, khedira, van ginkel, falcao, robbie kruse, stuart holden, bruma, jese and maybe even more.

must be the curse of world cup.

edit: + valdes.

Don't forget "il faraone" El Shaarawy. He is injured a long time ago and people are forgetting one of the best young talents in the world!

Add me to the list of players with ACL injury.

I may noy be as popular as the others you mention, but I was one of the best players of Eintracht Bratwurst on my sunday league team, leading in assists and longer socks. :P

About Jese, it's a pitty, he was playing very well and could have made an impact on the team and allow Ronaldo and Benzema to rest.

@amineken22
I might be wrong, but I think he has some sort of a problem with his left knee

Xabi Alonso is a shadow of himself. That's the main problem of the squad, the key of the midfield. Illarra is still too young and Casemiro lacks talent. Put Redondo, Desailly or Vieira in this team and they win everything.

Yeah, Xabi is on the decline physically, he lacks mobility to be able to hold the mid like he did in the past. I think that Carlo should consider playing with another mid besides him (Illarramendi maybe).

As for Ronaldo I hope he'll recover quickly for next week's final.

But he DID play with Illarra and Xabi Alonso. And Modric as well! I think Alonso is the weak chain.

Isco was a breath of fresh air in the 2nd half.

Ilarramendi is on tracks be being a major flop (giving the price tag). Agree with you guys on Alonso. He was never a very physical DMF, but now it appears we can only play with the ball. Real Madrid, come the summer, have to be looking for a player for that position.

He did play in midfield trio, yes, but he was the ONLY holding mid while the others were more offensively oriented. What I was suggesting here was that Carlo plays with TWO holding mids, that on its own makes a huge difference. Xabi would benefit greatly from having an Enforcer along side him.

yesterday, for the first time since he got the job, i watched an ancelotti press conference, and got a chance to hear his spanish....
it was freaking hilarious  a weird mix of italian and spanish with a bit of a castillano accent. and the funniest thing is, it worked! even though he clearely wasn't speaking spanish nor italian, but a new fancy language he was making up on the fly, i'm absolutely sure that any italian and spanish could clearely understand anything coming out of his mouth.
...then again, with carletto words are optional; u just need to look at his right eyebrow to figure out what he's thinking.
u just gotta love that man :DD
