Real Madrid Thread

Wow away win at Espanyol playing the whole match with 10-men and with 3rd choice keeper who looked pretty solid.

Impressive! Great victory!!

Ronaldo was tracking back! I think they may have realised that the only way to have a chance against Barcelona is if all 11 players are putting in a shift.

Well he's a Barca fan so of course he doesn't like Espanyol and makes fun of them but the truth is they are a decent team these days and Pochettino has them playing some good football.

Problem is they were missing a couple key players and really lacking the potent up front that Osvaldo would've perhaps provided let's say.

It is a great victory for Real Madrid and to have done it with 10-men makes it all the more remarkable. And had it not been for Adebayor being so wasteful in terms of finishing (he had a good performance otherwise), they could've even won it 3-0. But Kameni made some great saves!

The atmosphere and the crowd in that game at the new stadium were immense. By far and away the loudest crowd I've heard in Catalonia for 2-3 years. In fact that stadium seems much better than the Nou Camp in terms of noise, acoustics and views onto the pitch.

wasn't the most end to end game but Lyon I thought were the better side first half, 2nd you had a couple of "moments" and short spells which you troubled them but it was pretty even. dunno if im reading to much into it but Ozil seems to fizzle out in the big games, I think Kaka would probably be a better option in Europe.

Nicely poised for the 2nd leg, will Lisandro be back for it?

That match was as competitive as we all thought it would be. Nothing between the two sides really. OL better in 1st half, Real better chances in second. Each team had their moments of superiority and class and possession.

Great match I thought. Can't wait for 2nd leg.

That away goal is big for Real I think!

Ouch, I really can't stand that prick Mourinho no more. He's the biggest moaner in history. They had bad luck today with the posts but now, he moans about the hours of the matches? Really? So they didn't win because of the hour of the match? This man is a clown and is putting Real name to shame lately.

There's a limit on how much stupidity and monaning people can endure.

According to Mou, there's a complot of referees, coaches doing gifts to Barcelona (as long as I know, he lost 5-0), opponents should do much harder tackles to Messi (yes, he said this), match fixtures are against them, journalists protect Barcelona and don't praise him enough (he actually said this), he didn't have enough players, the club isn't doing enough efforts for him, opponents play too aggressive to them, ... and now it's the hours of the matches.

I see he had nothing to say when Atletico had to play 2 consecutive mondays when the Cup fixtures against Real, having only 3 days of rest in both matches. Oh, and Malaga will play against them with only 3 days of rest, too, next Thursday. But why try to reason when you can just ellaborate conspiracy theories all around the world. After all, Mourinho is the pinnacle of human race, he's just perfect and he's never wrong and all odds are always against him. He's starting to be called "Llourinho" in Spain for some reason (playing with the spanish word "Llorar" which means to cry).

It's tiresome... By the way, I think the attittude of players today against Deportivo was a bit off at some times. They were too relaxed until they realised they should go for the match to win. The late effort won't always save them! Ronaldo was unlucky but at the same time, when matches get difficult, they still need to play as a team a lot more. Ozil is a genius (what a great footballer) but sometimes it seems he lacks guts to lead the team.

Mourinho is a sore loser and always will be. I don't think he shook hands with Lotina after the game either. From what I saw, he went straight for the tunnel. He only shakes hands when he's in a good mood lol and his team wins lol.

Having said that, wow Real deserved 3 points today!! They CRUSHED Deportivo! Did everything but score. Hit post like 3 times and so many chances late on, they dominated and outshot them like 20 to 4. It's actually kinda sad because it shows how far low 'SuperDepor' have gone (with financial problems etc.) to celebrate 0-0 victory at HOME as if they won the world cup.

Great result for Barca today but not so much for Deportivo. They were trying to hold onto 0-0 for dear life. Real Madrid unlucky not to get 3 points today. But results aren't always fair, it's about who scores most and they couldn't find the net. What a miss by Benzema!!

p.s. Everybody gives Ronaldo crap about diving and for good reason, he does go down softly a lot of times although he's improved in this regard, but Di Maria is FAR worse!! This guy dives TWICE as often as Ronaldo. He should be criticized much more often. Great player though!

So someone wanted to stab Mourinho and ended up stabing his guard. What is the news as Real denied it?

Odd story. It wasn't even a knife attack, apparently. Seems like it's been blown out of proportion outside of Spain.

OMG! Anyone watch Ozil and Di Maria yesterday? I hope Real will finally settle with this team as they are finally starting to click.

In my oppinion, Ozil is the best Real player. He's a great star and is better than Iniesta for me. Look his numbers. He moves the team alone. Ronaldo is the icing on the cake, but the real motor of the team is the german. One of the cheapest signings ever by Madrid and one of the best.

This guy plays a different football and needs people around him to play like that. If Madrid stopped playing counter-attack and decided to concentrate on possession instead of just running, they would play a lot better, specially if they give Ozil the reigns and Ronaldo just follows him. But I doubt they do it. Maybe when Higuain is back.

Real has one of the 2 best squaes of Europe and one of his best teams ever, actually. We live in a time where Barcelona and Real have incredible teams.

If Real Madrid wins one little title, Ozil will be nominated for the Ballon d'or Top 3 ..
and if RM wins CL, Ozil will be FIFA world best player ..
unless Pepsi & Adidas has another opinion ..

Ozil is a great player, as I've told before, but your last sentence about Pepsi & Adidas implying it's them who nominated Messi is ridiculous.

Messi is the best player in the world, and Ozil, while being an incredible great player, doesn't come near him, no matter how many trophies he wins.

If the ballon d'or should be won by the player who performed better during the season (as I think it is meant to), how could Ozil beat a guy like Messi, who has 3 times more goals and assists than him and appears in the tough matches to decide?

Ozil is playing very well now, but sometimes he has periods of time in which he disappears.

Messi is better in reality than virtual games, he's going to end up with 60 goals for a season, whether its lack of competition or what not its just unmatchable.

What makes Messi so special is Xavi n Inesta they contribute to his game is such a complimentary way. If Messi stays in Barca we will never know how special he is imo

I can see what your saying Beboq but that's what International football is for and if he can be the main man and win a World Cup with Argentina then they'll be no doubts.

Ozil is playing great and has been a true gem but to compare him to Messi is ridiculous.

One of is undoubtedly the world's #1, the other is a VERY good player but among many others.

Nice revenge for Real tonight. Well deserved. They were definitely the best team.

F'n psycho Pepe DELIBERATELY hit both Lisandro and Cissokho though and should've been sent off.

You'd think if you already have a yellow card and are winning a game 3-0, there's no need to try to injury opponents but he did just that. I was suprised that Lisandro kept his cool and didn't attack him or Aly Cissokho for that mater! I guess they thought hey it's a stupid challenge at end... no point making a huge fight near end with both teams getting involved etc.

UEFA needs to look at it and suspend him anyway though, even if he didn't fully connect as well as he wanted (and he did make GOOD contact with Lisandro anyway) near groin area, he certianly had BAD INTENTION! He went in there to hurt opponents not once but twice in closing stages!

Great for Real Madrid, Great Mourinho, Benzema, Ozil, co. And fuck Pepe!

Finally beaten them. It was time!

Well, Sina, I don't know if you are talking about a specific play or a specific tackle by Pepe on Lisandro (I barely watched the final minutes, was serving some coffees to my family ) but I can't see the guy hitting Licha on propose. They were partners at FC Porto and they're still good friends. I remember in the first half Pepe taking hard on the Argentinian but they've solved the problem immediately, they even smiled to each other. :)
