Portuguese Liga Sagres

Re: Portuguese bwin.com Liga

I watched it as well and I must say I'm speechless. No wonder our football is in such a disgraceful state.

Re: Portuguese bwin.com Liga

Looks like Sporting will sign Rochemback, and probably Pauleta...

Caneira, and Hugo Viana are also tragets for the next season...

Re: Portuguese bwin.com Liga

Great victory, and a great game by Tiui...

And yes it was foul on Lisandro, but it was outside the box...

It was penalty, but couldn't care less.

Porto was crap.

EDIT: AH! Sporting won more titles this year than Porto!!!

just shows that playing great football means nothing... :p

Re: Portuguese bwin.com Liga

Sadly didn't see this game but I heard Sporting were the better side and deserved the victory in the end.

I also heard about the referee mucking up the time on his watch with the time on the monitor at the stadium, haha. What an idiot!

As for Sporting...Congrats on the win, Tiuí finally made himself a hero, I doubt it will last long because next season he will be just as bad as he has been most this season and the Sporting Fan's will be calling for his head.

On another note. We need a manager real quick. My first choice would of been Quique, but when Laudrap left his post at Getafe and then we got linked to him, I then thought he could be the perfect guy. I just hope we get a manager and then get some player's before the Euro starts or we could end up paying crazy 'dinheiro' for some player's.

Re: Portuguese bwin.com Liga

Idiot ref.

You definitely need a manager quick, cause Benfica is already making dumb mistakes, hiring players without a manager to approve them.

Will that LFV ever learn? (hope not)

Re: Portuguese bwin.com Liga

I know what you mean. We signed Amorim who is a great prospect but will he be wanted by our future manager. This is hopefully where Rui Costa comes in and hopefully gets us a manager before we sign another player.

Apparently Laudrap will make his decision on Friday and according to Ojogo Rui Costa still wants Quique and is willing to pay a little more for his services. Record have been saying we want Zico aswell now, it just never ends does it!

Either way...I want this solved.

Re: Portuguese bwin.com Liga

hey! uefa may ban porto from participating in next year's champions league. if this happens, it would suck big time! i guess something has to be done to fight the cheats...

Re: Portuguese bwin.com Liga

Hope they get kicked out of UCL. Even if they being there is good for our Uefa Ranking, its not acceptable to have teams in a Multimillionaire Championship using cheats and fraud. I would rater prefer to have poor Benfica there, which i must admit played the most stupid football ive ever seen, then Porto, which played a more effective and attractive game.

Re: Portuguese bwin.com Liga

I said, that i preferred an awful but honest benfica in the ucl then a dishonest and cheating porto, even if that affects us (Portuguese) in the FIFA World Ranking.

Re: Portuguese bwin.com Liga

Honest? Is that a joke?

Maybe you won't laugh 4th June.

Enough. I don't know how can you laugh when you club is oficially corrupt...sorry, I will never understand that.

Re: Portuguese bwin.com Liga

Today on TVI Miguel Sousa Tavares was really upset because Porto did not appeal when they were punished with 6 points, because they didn't try to clear Porto's name and reputation.

Well, seems fucking obvious why, they are admiting to being guilty so that maybe Portuguese justice won't keep digging and finding Porto's filth over the years...

Nobody looks into "EstorilGate", not even LFV calls choosing a referee deserve mention. Just wonder If they could digg into Benfica's/Sporting's filth over the years. I'm betting Benfica would break the record.

Ours is official, but at least I don't live in illusions.

BTW MST is an idiot, but not because of football.

Re: Portuguese bwin.com Liga

Dude from this i bet you do leave in an illusion. But having a discussion with you never ends well or isn't an "healthy" conversation so its better to stop it right now.

Any news about possible transfers in Benfica?

Re: Portuguese bwin.com Liga

Our team continues to show quality in the pitch and that nobody can deny.

Neo, you need to learn the meaning of illusion.

Re: Portuguese bwin.com Liga

So what did Porto do wrong?

I want to watch Portuguese football next season. I've always had a soft spot for Benfica but I also like Sporting because of the links with Man Utd.

Supporting you guys in the Euro's, too. You're still our oldest allies.

Very resumed..:

The facts are from 2003/2004 season. FC Porto had been convicted for attempting bribery of referees on 2 matches. One, the referee visited FC Porto's chairman house one day before the match. The other one, there were several calls between FC Porto chairman, and intermediary and the ref. They bribed the referees with prostitutes on an hotel. The calls recorded are very explicit.
FC Porto ended up guilty of both cases, losing 3 points for each match, because it was said that it was attempted bribery, not total/consumed bribery (that would given them relegation and lost of titles) because some 'specialists' (ex referees) said that there was no clear errors favouring them on those matches.
Porto, since was 20 points ahead, decided not to appeal the decision. They decided to assume themselfs as corrupts, instead of taking the risk of starting next season with -6 points. Only the chairman appealed.
So, they ended up winning the league, but... UEFA rules say that a 'club that has been involved in corruption activities doesn't have permission to play in european competitions'...
The case itself is full of 'curious' facts.. Boavista, another portuguese side, was relegated (on the same case) because there was coercion over the refs. The ref that was 'attempted to be bribed'on the first match mentioned was found guilty as 'consumed bribery'...so FC Porto was attempted, but the ref was 'consumed'...he was banned for 6 or 8 years.
There's a lot of other cases, and they are going to civil trial/courts. FC Porto's chairman ex-wife says that she saw him paying the ref that visited their house, that it was usual, that he had such influence that he picked the referees himself (actually there's tapings of that, him choosing the refs with the referees association guy...). Pinto da Costa (FCP chairman) was banned for 2 years and says that she's lying.

Re: Portuguese bwin.com Liga

If Porto is kicked from the CL, then Portugal ranking is in serious trouble, because then we only will have one good team with chances to pass the group stage...

Yes, only Benfica could do it because Sporting have never passed the group stage.

Benfica is in UEFA cup, not in the CL...
How relevant is the fact that Sporting never passed the group stage?
We have never passed it , but we continue to have better results than Benfica...

Just check which portuguese team got more points on Europe.;) And no, you don't have to take a look at the all-time table. Last 5 years, for example, which is the ranking they use.

C'mon...at least know what you're saying..

Re: Portuguese bwin.com Liga

Benfica actually had pretty good results in the last few years in the CL.
But it's only thanks to the Koeman year. That made all the difference.

Actually...:

18 Benfica Por
03/04: 13.3825
04/05: 13.6950
05/06: 17.8150 Koeman's season
06/07: 18.6675 Fernando Santos's season
07/08: 13.6160

There hasn't been that much discrepance between seasons, comparing with Sporting or FC Porto, for example.. so I think that idea is wrong.

Re: Portuguese bwin.com Liga

Is that meant to be a joke?

How many titles, Benfica won in the past 2/3 years?

The only good european campaign i saw from Benfica was with Koeman, and thats why you got some points...

But i continue to say, what the hell is that matters for, this year you are out...
You have to live with that...

?? How many titles? I thought we were talking about european performances.. Decide yourself!;)

Well, you must be joking..I've posted above the points achieved for each season, and Fernando Santos's got even more than Koeman's. So..
It's interesting that you say that you only saw one good european campaign from Benfica.. because if that works that way, we've only seen a something like 4 good performances from Sporting in all its history! Do you think you made a good performance this year reaching the quarter finals? Well, we just did that not long ago (losing to Espanyol). If you consider a good campaign reaching semi finals or final, well mate, you don't want to start that discussion..I think Benfica is one of the european clubs that reached those stages more times...

We're not out, we're simply playing UEFA cup where Sporting spent most of its history as a club. But let's see if we'll be playing UEFA or CL this season...
