Why would you be more optimistic about PES after hearing something off-putting about FIFA? Like someone said, the 'supporting' of games is ridiculous. I can't understand why someone would blindly prefer a franchise, regardless of game mechanics. I first liked FIFA, I then liked PES, I now like FIFA again. Really doesn't matter to me which is better, I'll just play the best one.


And the last paragraph just sums up the last two incarnations of PES so I don't know what you're going on about....

Exactly, some people act like they are shareholders of EA or Konami , I just want to play the best game, who cares if its Konami or EA ?

Well Chris just said 360 degree movement won't be limited to close control in the final build... but anyway:

Yes, when speaking of how great PES or FIFA is, I always mean it in relative terms. Since both games are worlds apart from real soccer, we can only judge them relative to each other. For instance, I LOVED pes4, simply because FIFA back then was shameful. Same thing for PES2010... if FIFA's limited 360 movement were true, then PES2010's rumored unlimited 360 movement would be "great"... IMO.

PES has lost alot of its play individuality since PES6... its not as noticeable now.. so that argument is getting weak

Totally disagree there 100 million percent. I have played over 1000 hours on PES 2009 and I can tell you now, the differences are huge in individuality.

I also played 6 games online last night, from really obscure teams to the likes of Spain and Argentina and the difference between every game, players, and how the teams played and how we had to play was ridiculously different.

So much so, your statement I just cannot agree with, at all. Also, I played PES 6 on my PS2 about 4 months back just to judge it against PES 2009, and although the individuality was still apparent, as it is with all PES games, the arcadish passing style meant that even passing stats were not taken into account anywhere near as much as they are with the unforgiving nature of PES 2009.

Not a chance dude. PES08 and 09 may have fallen short in many areas but not in individuality. Not to mention the ability tn tweak the player stats to play exactly like their real life counter parts.

Easily FIFA's biggest downfall is player individualism, along with the weakness of technically skilled players. FIFA favours athletism far too highly, hence why Evra and Yakubu are among the best players on the game.

Although, from what I played of PES 08, fast players were more effective then what they used to be.

True and 09 was the same which is why I had to drop just about everyones technique and adjust the speed.

It was way to easy to beat a player 1-on-1. But all the previews mention that it's out for PES2010 even the 50 odd % code. The 90degree turn is also out which is excellent.

Yakubu is actually one of the best players in J.League Winning Eleven 2008 Club Championship (wherein he's far more effective than Ronaldinho, Ibra and the likes) as well, he's scored over 60 goals in the Master League I've just finished playing, lol.

Evra and yakubu are top players in both PES and Fifa,which i think is and accurate account.

True, but, Yakubu for me is probably the best striker on the game. Is he in real life? I don't think so, despite being quality.

While Del Piero is quite ineffective when I use him, as he's neither strong or quick.

I think it's just a problem generally for football games, since the players are being controlled, key elements of a player like 'decisions' and 'creativity' are taken over by the user. But ball control especially is a lot more prevalent in earlier PES games, the likes of Ronaldinho really had the ball glued to his foot compared to others, while in FIFA (and possibly PES 09?) he doesn't particularly stand out.

All this R.I.P. PES talk is completely ridiculous.

Of course it can compete with Fifa. It would be foolish to write off PES2010 on the basis of two poorly conceived trailers and a handful of screenshots. Konami have not shown anything yet of the game in an advanced stage. Let's wait four days and see what Konami show at Gamescom before sweeping statements are made about the death of PES.

Already, PES2010 looks better than Fifa10 in the graphics department. If Konami can implement a good animation set and refine the gameplay and AI then I think it will be a hugely improved game. Of course, it won't satisfy everyone, particularly the fully manual Fifa set, but for those of us who love classic PES I think we will be more than satisfied this year.

Let's not dismiss the fact that Seabass won't be attending Gamescom for the first time, unless PES2010 has some serious code under their sleeves to up the game from the last 55% build.... like say (wishing): A new physics engine, new animations, proper 360 degree movement... not to mention the addition of the new lighting and graphics filter...

It's going to be super interesting...

Hmmm
Just a quickie, got word from our friends in Konami that the tricks are indeed no longer on the d-pad/left analogue stick. They are now performed with a combination of holding R2/RT, with subtle inputs of a direction with the d-pad/left stick. It’s something we reported on at the playtest, but with contradictory reports going around its good to get clarification.

The news will please a lot of people no doubt, its the end of accidental roulettes!

But i think that can't be true. Why ??
Well now i will explain.
1. Adam never use the tricks , NEVER ! He don't know how any tricks does , but that is not real reason .
2. If tricks is R2+D-Pad they will have limited combination of ways to do tricks and they can't import new fresh tricks and will be same boring tricks since 98 !
3. May be true reason to that no way trick be only whit R2+D-pad because is nonsense.

In PES 2009 when you RUN - :r1: you can make any trick like " Roulette " , flip flap , " Lite Loop " etc. Just push the D-Pad in that direction and method as they do in principle .
When you Run :r1: + :r2: after that push the D-pad some direction player do that :

If that what wrote in WENB is true then Konami must remove tricks whit run and we will can make fients and tricks only when player walk , that will be very stupid :TD: or they must remove " the strong lead " on the ball and that will be the EPIC stupidity !!! :BRICK:
If tricks will be on Right Stick all problems can be resolved and everyone happy. :SMOKIN::SMOKIN:

But that's the thing, you will not be holding both... You would just hold R2/RT to do the tricks, so probably is true.
