PES2010 discussion thread

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Is it any wonder when FIFA has made massive strides forward in the past few years whilst Pro Evo has gone backwards?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I think you'll find it's just down to the last couple of incarnations being well below par, there is still a hell of a lot of PES in here, and just one FIFA forum thread.
If Konami deliver half of what they promise the results could be great and all the FIFA converts of the last couple of years like me will be trying to make the switch back...

I just hope it's not as fast as some old PES seems after playing FIFA.... Woooshhhh...

Again, check the editing forum. most post counts are from the PES editing section but i agree, PES has turned pants and not all of are fanboys.

i bet that if PES was better then FIFA10 this year, i bet most of you lot including you matey will revert back to PES. why? because where not fanboys right? well im not

If FIFA09 on PC was next gen would you expect the same activity on the PES editing forum?

I'd have to wait a few PES games before I reverted back.

It took me until 09 to fully appreciate that FIFA was better than Pro Evo, then again, having gone back to PES5/6, it isn't.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The posts about WENB being a place respected by konami and evo web just being forgotten by the mighty gods of pes are quite funny. This is a community forum and the other one it is a sort of semiofficial marketing web sites.

And this things that konami gives away news only to the loyal ones is a bit pathetic.

But we know that A. has a big ego to please.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Well I sure most of the PES community have a view on Adam and his way of doing things...cough cough...but maybe I should be more positive along the lines of this perhaps?

There’s no doubting many of you will have skimmed to the bottom to see that I gave the game 8/10. The difficulty of reviewing PES 2008 his year more than any other is to justify why I didn’t give the game a 9 or even 10. How you find PES 2008 is going to be how you approach the game. Expect the same addictive gameplay that will have you hooked until next year’s version, then you won’t be disappointed.

The most recent version on the PS2 gave Konami a fantastic starting block for the new next-gen era. To their credit they’ve developed the core gameplay from that version and evolved it into the most complete PES yet. One thing you will notice when you get onto the pitch is the feel of the game. It’s much more considered and heavy, with the ball and players carry much more weight to them. Besides this initial adjustment time needed, the game is the same as it ever was. You’ll be passing the ball about like a pro and stringing together some inspiring moves in no time. This similarity may be a sign of not much ambition shown by the developers, but to many it’s a case of ‘if it aint broke…’ etc etc. You can agree to both points, but you can’t get away with the fact that Seabass and his team have created a special game engine.

Everyone who picks up the game will be very satisfied with their experiences. And it’s on the pitch where the game still shines. As mentioned passing is still as crisp, with nice new animations to go with each distribution. The same goes for shooting, although you’ll need to give yourself some time to adjust to the slight change in its mechanics. In previous versions the outcome of your shot would depend on various situations (player skill, opposition pressing etc), and it’s much more integral now. This goes hand in hand with the goal keepers, who now are more skillful. They anticipate where you are going to shoot much better, while covering all angles amazingly well. This leads to an even more satisfying feeling when you do score, if that’s possible. The ‘keepers animations also have been given a boost, making them look incredibly realistic when making those ‘for the camera’ saves.

Perfect player representation has always been a factor in the series since it first emerged many years ago both visually and how everyone plays. And it’s visually where the game can, at times, look very much next-gen. Zoom into any of the well known player faces and you’ll witness an incredible attention to detail. Players like Michael Owen and Kaka are photo realistic, as are (unfortunately) the handsome Man Utd striking partnership of Tevez and Rooney.

For me the slowdown factor became less of an issue. After the initial shock of it being there, I started to enjoy the game for what it was. There been much talk about the core being too similar to its PS2 roots, but these roots actually save the game in the end. For all its flaws the same addictive PES gameplay is there underneath the underwhelming front end. Surely, you can’t ask for much more than that?

And as for Konami taking on board the views of WENB posters - I can't believe how naive someone would have to be to really think that. A few more PR handouts/effort mean nothing. After all WENB was boasting Konami sold 8million units of PES - and given that fact are they really going to take on board the mostly half-baked ideas of 200 sycophantic fanboys??? The bottom line is none other than the simple truth of cash. KONAMI is feeling the tough boot of EA at its bottom. Desparate times require desparate measures. KONAMI has come out in a PR frenzy to win all that they have lost in the past 2 years. If PES2010 doesnt measure up to FIFA10 no matter how much fanboyism KONAMI will be left with the Japanese market and the PC market. And that is not enough in our dire economic times. The moment they release a gameplay video will determine their fate.

Yes there you go MONEY TALKS - it's the only reason Konami seem to be making some sort of effort.

'WENB in sleazy PES Fansite liking PES game skocker!'

But seriously, if Adam hadn't slept with your wife I'd say your little vendetta against WENB was quite pathetic. I'd put an arm over your shoulder, hold your hand through a couple weeks of therapy so you can deal with all those little nagging issues, then when you're all healthy I'd take you to a bar and sip some Cognak, smoke a blunt and just teach you to chill and enjoy life. Of course that's not the case and your relentless quest to discredit his work and single-handedly anihilate his reputation is entirely justifiable.

Give him what fore!:SAL:

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Yes there you go MONEY TALKS - it's the only reason Konami seem to be making some sort of effort.

Some sort of effort is not enough. They need to INVEST heavily in the physics + mocap animation department. PURE CASH investment. They finally see that games like MGS4 is not where the money is. Imagine if KONAMI invested that cash towards PES2008...how good PES2009 or even PES2010 would be. They became complacent and overconfident *scough* Sony *cough*...and theyve paid dearly for that.

:SMUG: you need to look at more PR from 99% of media companies....lying is a standard practice...fanboyism will never die....

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

oFifa09o - of course you're right. For example right Amazon reviewers give a much more honest picture of what the buying public really thinks of PES in recent years than 200 seemingly creepy and educationally subnormal fannyboys on a certain blog. And Metacritic is also very good for finding much more honest reviews of games.

Just found a new Konami/WNEB vid on youtube I think

Why don't we use this thread to talk about PES2010 news? Rather than just hating on WENB?

The reason I post over there is because they do just that. Talk about the game. Without incessant negativity and, instead, plenty of optimism and constructive criticism. Their forums are very active but hardly anyone is talking about PES2010 here.

Sigh...

I really don't understand all the forore over WENB. Why are you so surprised that a PES fansite maintains a level of positivity towards PES? In fact, why do you even care? Are you that bitter? Maybe it's time for the hand-holding and therapy we talked about.

Hey Jess, I don't think you give a crap about PES2010 and just keep trolling here like a noob(?). I guess you work for WENB and never actually bought the last two games. Do you know that your posts really suck and its not even funny? I know you try to make your posts funny but you fail miserably at that. PRO TIP; stop posting, gtfo.

:?

A little random there. Did you join twenty minutes ago?

In fact never mind.

Such poor spelling and grammar too. Wtf with the noob comment as well? That doesn't even make any sense. I've been here longer than you.

Long story short; bought PES2008, wasn't that impressed but liked it for a little while, grew to hate it. Bought FIFA 09, loved it for a little longer, eventually grew bored with it. Bought PES2009, completely unimpressed, took it back a day later and stuck to FIFA. Saw PES2010, met it with a little cautious optimism but saw the Messi screenshot and thought 'wow, Konami are pulling their finger out'.

The difference between bazza and I is I can empathise with someone else's oppinion, particularly when that oppinion comes from a website entirely dedicated to PES. Well, either that or, evidently, I can keep my woman satisfied.

Now, the questions I put to you are, going on the evidence seen here: http://forums.evo-web.co.uk/search.php?searchid=2713048: are you at all interested in PES2010? And perhaps more importantly, when do you plan on investing in a dictionary?

Why don't we use this thread to talk about PES2010 news? Rather than just hating on WENB?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

No it's not optimism per se that annoys - rather seemingly an outlook that suggests Konami cannot do any wrong which is based on no actual evidence that Konami gives a damn about producing an excellent product (in fact Komani's production values are OBJECTIVELY terrible - one aspect the crowd chants - simply awful).

Anyone that experienced the abortion of a game that was PES2008 on PS3 has a very good reason for thinking Konami to be money grubbing scum of the worse type. And I did download the demo of PES2009 and I would not play it if it was free to be honest.

Anyway the point being one persons "optimism" comes across as mindless empty-headed fanboyism to many others. Konami have to comprehensively outdo EA to win me back as a fan and customer. Personally I don't like being sold or offered sub-standard products year on year. So once the community has a video of PES2010 in action we will be in much better position to draw some conclusions - after all maybe Messi et al., look great in close up but in wide cam perhaps the game looks awful. Time will tell.

And as positivity is the ideological vibe required here I'll let you all get on with the circle jerk over the just how wonderful and yummy Seabass is ;)

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Yes I agree no more talk of the "other place". And Jess if I'm "pathetic" are you not perhaps meta-pathetic? Seriously your risible and utterly asinine little barbs are those of a dullard. Of course I do have sympathy with Adam from the "other place" given his condition and so people should not be too harsh (in many ways it's not his fault). Tone is hard to convey across an internet forum.

Anyways enough off this - I have better things do to like re-read Harry Frankfurt's wonderful little book "On Bullshit"

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bullshit-Harry-G-Frankfurt/dp/0691122946

This gem of a book offers a tightly focused, telling critique of a political and cultural climate that seems positively humid with mendacity, obfuscation, evasion and illusion. Obviously the games industry escapes all of these vices ;)

Yes, okay, Adam likes the game. But Adam is doing his thing for WENB, this is not WENB, moaning about him here isn't going to accomplish anything.

The problem for a lot of us is that we've had a good 2 years now of negativity and people saying "Konami RIP" and all sorts of shit. We are here because PES is is close as football games have gotten to replicating the real thing, if any company has a chance of reaching that level once again then it is going to be Konami. It doesn't matter if they do it or not, because they can, we all know they can which is why you, me and everyone else is here.

If you want to moan about how terrible Konami is and how they have no morales whilst EA listens to you and tucks your children at night then go ahead, but I'm here waiting for a sign that Konami are going to pull a lump of magic out of their arse and astound us, like they have done in the past, and will do so again in the future.

I just can't spend another summer with people berating Adam because it's gotten a little repetitive over the years.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Yes man, that picture of Messi is a huge sign that this game will be way different then the other two!!! WOW! ITS A CLEAR SIGN THAT PES IS BACK ON TRACK!! WOHOOO CANT WAIT!!! FUCKING BULLSHIT!

:?

Wow. Just wow.

By comparison.

Saw PES2010, met it with a little cautious optimism but saw the Messi screenshot and thought 'wow, Konami are pulling their finger out'.

Seek help my friend. Better yet, don't, because that right there was hilarious.

Seriously that's the stupidest thing i have ever heard, you judge the game from a useless picture that doesn't show anything significant about the game.

Again, I'm not sure when it was I judged the game but there you go.

I can barely notice any differences between that pic and the one released from 2009...

:LMAO::LMAO:

I was gonna murder this post but it seems you've done that all on your own. Congrats man. :WORSHIP:

Sorry Badgerman given we have a spelling/grammar pedant (Hi Jess), what are "morales" dear chap?

Perhaps a South American political figure? Like Evo Morales http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evo_Morales - the President of Bolivia - what has that got to do with the price of fish? Or sports gaming?

Equally certain people's constant hyping and cheerleading for Konami has become very very boring too - don't you agree Badgerman? But as I say I must resist the temptation to post - EVO WEB IS A HAPPY PLACE AND MUST REMAIN SO.

Aha, nice try though.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, then I think it is a blue moon as that post was relatively on topic in regards to why we're here and our varying levels of expectation from the next PES.

But yeah, thanks for completely sidestepping that and ushering yet another page to be wiped from the record books. Page 25, we hardly knew ye.

But, as I say, I must resist the temptation to post

You missed some punctuation, by the bys.

Oh dear. Someone's had a relapse...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I actually had a question relating to the game (I will give you moment to relocate your monocles).

PES2008 was my first experience of PES online and it was pretty horrific to say the least. PES2009 didn't seem much better but round about then I realised that I am on the proper bum end of my BT line, so I'm effectively last in line for all of the internet traffic in Mansfield.

So, after having waited for the local plebs to finish downloading various animal porn/DragonBall Z, the rare instances I had a semi-decent connection seemed to show an improvement from 2008 to 2009. Was there actually an improvement or has it always been terrible?

Oh dear. Someone's had a relapse...

Fair play to the lad though, my spelling has been atrocious today. I had a 3 hour exam today where I produced so many variations on "necessary" that I could feel my brain doing a brain palm.

It's not been a great day in all honesty. 4 hours of kip, 3 hour exam in which I somehow invoked Nazi Germany (was a business exam), rushed through torrential rain to get to work an hour late, got back about 2 hours ago to find my cat has left a brown treat on the welcome mat.

I did win a pack of unopened cherry tic tacs on the tram though. By win I mean found so if I stop posting abrubtly then you all know why.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I think most of u lot are forgetting that Adam and Suff are both responsible for WENB(Where Adam is in the mix of things) and FSB(Where Suff is in the mix of things)...so in fairness, Adam has stated that he always preferred PES and wants it back to its best, despite previous disappointments. Nothing wrong with that.

If u have a website dedicated to PES, would u rather want someone who's a gloomy depressed knob to be negative about every single small news that comes from KONAMI?

By criticizing Adam because of how reviewed PES08 is silly. Reviews can change over a period of time, Adam has since admitted that PES08 was horrible, I remember the initial reviews of PES08 all around, where people have been saying its the best PES08 ever and eventually retracting their comments. It takes time to properly find flaws in a game.

WENB is a site where you want people buzzing about PES, its normal if they want to be as positive as they can about it without lying.
If KONAMI has indeed paid WENB, what the f**k about FSB, and Suff was invited to EA last year to preview the FIFA09, so I don't know understand what people are getting pissed at.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

That's pretty much it. You do not start a blog and run it for 2 years if you hate the subject material.

Actually, you know what? I absolutely hate gardening.

So I'm going to start a gardening blog as you know my articles are going to be truthful. Down with hydrangeas, etc.

edit: Up with vines!

Apologies.

Aw man, I hate that. My cat's chosen sqatter is behing the fridge. It's bad enough having to clean it up, worse first thing in the morning, but having to move a heavy fridge out as well? Murder man.
