PES2010 discussion thread

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Lol! They just changed his haircut and tweaked the lighting, whats the big deal? not to mention you cant tell if thats how he will look like in the game.

That picture of Messi is an in-game picture. So, therefore, I am somewhat positive in that the in-game Messi will share some resemblance to the in-game Messi.

What I'd point out is the skin colours. Look at the 2009 version and how he looks like Zoidberg after he sheds his skin. There's something off putting about it. Also the hair seems bolted onto his head.

Take it from someone who has been non-plussed from screenshots over the past 2 years, this is actually quite decent. You just need to get out of the mindset that PES can do no right.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I have also noticed that the 2010 Messi has not lathered himself with shoe polish.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

That's pretty much it. You do not start a blog and run it for 2 years if you hate the subject material.

Actually, you know what? I absolutely hate gardening.

So I'm going to start a gardening blog as you know my articles are going to be truthful. Down with hydrangeas, etc.

edit: Up with vines!

Apologies.

But are the Vines going to be fully licensed this year if not i'm sticking with the Hydrangeas

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I think everyone in the UK should pre-order PES2010 asap. No-one could possibly doubt Konami efforts? On reflection that in game picture is enough to restore anyone's goodwill - I believe in Seabass!!!

Oh can someone please inform me as to the identity of the moderator for this thread? Just need to ask them something. Thanks.

P.S.

I do think the community often displays enormous optimism quite out of proportion with the evidence to hand. Of course anyone can be as optimistic as they like. But if there exists a continuum between deep skeptics and huge optimists, it seems an odd and unstated asymmetry is operational - lots of freedom to be wildly hopeful and little or no tolerance for even the mildest doubts. I sure we know why, at a psychological level, that trend might occur but it doesn't justify it.

As for Konami - well we might have a very long discussion as to why, in my view, they are massively behind the level of quality and high-end production values required to produce excellent games in the next-gen era, but there is little point. Many think Konami have nothing much wrong thus far on next-gen platforms - I for one think it's a slap in the face of a very loyal fan base to offer shoddy incomplete ports of a PS2 game. Frankly if I did work for Konami as a developer and compared PES to what is happening in sports gaming I'd feel embarrassed of the PES series very low production values and lack of quality (just one area for example is the appalling crowd chants - can anyone think of a major PS3/Xbox title with worse sound effects?).

Unfortunately internet forums tend not to be places for rational cool-headed discussions.

I've read most of this thread but I must have missed the circle-jerk of positivity that riled Bazza up.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Intrepid - it's a wider community thing. Evo web is one of the few places in which critical voices are allowed. I'm loathed to mentioned those other places but I'm sure you have an idea.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I have read through the last few pages of posts and there seems to be a few who really want pes10 to fail, so they can say i told you so.
I for one cant wait till pes10 arrives on my doorstep so i can play our once great game. Konami seem to be pulling out all the stops to sell us pes10, and tho i am not falling for their sales pitch i am quite excited that this year we will finally get our pes back.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Aye, nice one. I must admit, this thread has gone better than in previous years. Probably down in no small measure to Konami seemingly acknowledging that they've made a right balls up these last two years.

I had a dream about a gameplay video of PES2010 last night. I didn't realise how utterly meaningless my life was until now.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Well there should be more news within the next month. So I would expect something to be shown or revealed at E3.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The bottom line is none other than the simple truth of cash. KONAMI is feeling the tough boot of EA at its bottom. Desparate times require desparate measures. KONAMI has come out in a PR frenzy to win all that they have lost in the past 2 years. If PES2010 doesnt measure up to FIFA10 no matter how much fanboyism KONAMI will be left with the Japanese market and the PC market. And that is not enough in our dire economic times. The moment they release a gameplay video will determine their fate.

This is so true....just notice that back in the golden WE ages konami needed no PR at all..the game was sold by itself.

and btw about the best WE ever, ill take we2000 u-23 any day of the week! that game was absolute crack back on those days, it was just perfect! after the ps2 my fav is definatly we6FE wedoit or wendetta club pacth...

And still worldwide FIFA sold far more than PES....Either way some people need to visit the FIFA09 PC forums to see how EA spits on the PC gamers and treats us like morons. All companies use PR BS. Its a sad fact born out of fanboyism.

This. Poor planning has put Konami in this position.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I don't think PES has ever beaten FIFA sales wise. Infact, haven't Konami actually increased sales with 2008 and 2009?

But yeah, they can't compete with the marketing machine that EA have, even when the game was better by many magnitudes.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Yeah we are all a bit grumpy; a lack of news and a load of hype does that. But I'm sure it's not going to be too long before we get more substantive info on both PES and FIFA.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Well that was a waste of space, what is with you people and one-upmanship, it's a game forum guys!

I lost the will to finish reading the last few snipes I take it there is no new info...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

there won't be news until WENB gets news, so we're just gonna bash PES 2008, 2009, and the KONAMI PES dev team until then.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Yeah gotta love the ice creams of James Richardson's era - anyone listen to his podcasts on the Guardian?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I'm becoming quite amused by this talk of Seabass' current location. We genuinely haven't heard a peep from him and I now have a vision of the Konami bigwigs disposing of him, after which they will soon release a statement wishing him well on his extended holiday.

Till more news why not amuse ourselves with thoughts on the delightful Ms Esposto! :APPLAUD:
