Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I believe it has to do more with the response time and the refresh rate of the panel in the TV, rather than the LED backlighting...

modern TVs have some kind of 'motionflow' technology, which is for sports and other content that is in constant motion and it functions to increase the refresh rate to 120Hz. Even newer TVs have a 240Hz capability, but the objective is to reduce motion blur in fast-moving scenes, like a football game for example.

Yes I agree. I didn't meant to say it's because of the LED technology. Still, this TV is suposed to be 100Hz.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I really dont know where to start here to be honest.

Firstly, yes I play mainly offline. 8 seasons on ML gives me a decent understanding of the game. The Player Cards make a huge difference, either you havent played the game enough, or you dont really know what your looking for, and I dont mean that in an insulting way.

As an example, Emnes for me in my ML always struggled with the accuracy and consistency of his general passes and his through ball's. After giving him the Passer playing card, the difference to his game is like night and day. If I time the pass correct and the run is on 8 times out of 10 he will complete the pass, with pretty much perfect weight. I play with the same set of players game in game out, so I can see VERY cleary the difference it makes. The same thing goes for the 1st touch Player Card, that has massively improved many of my ML players ability. The 1 on 1 Finish Player Card once issued to my strikers has improved their finishing around the box by a good 50%.

The Attacking Card, Balance and Defence all have massive implications on which runs the players make, that is also like night and day. To the point were if for some reason I have forgot to activate the Attacking Card, I can notice it during the game immediately by the postioning of my players, and I then switch it on.

The Fox in the Box, Mazy Run Cards etc I have never used as none of my players in my ML have it. I would be very surprised though based on the Cards I do use that they do nothing at all. Why have them in ?

The sticky touch shuffle you mention, although not the best to look at visually is there to serve a purpose to a theory, which is all based again around individuality. It's to show the difference between technical players and non-technical players. Defenders are more likely to be dispossessed by quick strikers looking to nick it off their foot due to the cumbersome nature of a defender. The exception to the rule are for players like Alves, Cole, and Ramos et al, which are represented accordingly in PES 2010. This has never been highlighted to such an extent in any PES game. Again adding to the individuality.

As for any player with 70 dribbling accuracy having no individuality ? What about the influence of every other stat they have ? Sure they cant pull off the advanced feints but that doesnt mean they cant excel in other areas of the game.

And any player with 80+ with dribbling accuracy can pull off all the feints, including Drogba, so I'm not sure where you get that from. Try tapping forward then down or up and watch how quick he turns.

I agree with the fact that Real Madrid and Barcelona online are still way too good in a ranked match. Alot of this though is down to the default 'Regular' AI setting that comes with a ranked match. I play online in a Community and play on Top Player AI and the defence is far better and can cope with Messi and Ronaldo etc. The bottom line is that PES has always been completely stat based, obviously we are never going to get every player exactly how we think they should be, alot of that is subjective anyway. I have played the likes of Barca and Real online in a ranked match and it did infuriate me that I was getting beat by players that just looked to use the cut-back and sprint button. I had hoped this would have been sorted but it hasnt, the best PES player doesnt always win in a ranked match, due to the likes of Real and Barca being so good and the Regular level AI being so shit defensively.

When you play with one of the lesser teams, you instantly feel the lack of quality throughout the team. Then play with Real or Barca and your at the very top end of the food chain and it's reflected accordingly. The bottom line is when your facing the likes of Kaka, Ronaldo, Benzema and co, your facing the cream of world football.

There is a fine line though between making the worlds best players god-like. I remember everybody moaning with PES 5 because Henry couldnt out-sprint a slower defender, and how unrealistic that was. Now it's the other end of the scale, although not as much as 08 and 09.

You say Lorente cant control the ball because he is tall, but Ibra can take the ball dead, and he's tall. This also highlights what you have said about PES 6. Yes all PES games have incorperated the 1st touch, but none have done it as drastically as they have in PES 2010, in my opinion.

As for PES 6 being far better, maybe if you prefer a more arcade attacking style game. I played PES 6 on my PS2 about 8 months ago and couldnt beleive how arcadish the gameplay was. It was like playing Fifa on fully assisted but with individuality. Pressing pass with my eyes closed found a player with ease. I think PES 6 was where Konami started to move away from a more simulated approach. We then got the horrific PES 2008, which I hated with a passion, and PES 2009 which was a big improvement but still nothing like the realism of PES 2010.

Anyway, we all see games differently I guess so each to their own.

It is strange how this "cream" cannot breathe when faced with a midfield and defence that is setup to choke it.
The match of Stamford Bridge comes to mind. Chelsea vs Barca with Barca's team nearly non existant Messi vaporised and Chelsea killed by UEFA....
PES2010 has no concept of midfield anything with speed below 85 is dead on the pitch. It is sad how a 4-2-4 system can be played in this game. In the real football such system has no chance.
It is only when the speed of the game engine is slowed with the kitserver speeder that realism comes to life.
Sadly speeder cannot be used online. Ive played against a friend of mine offline on the slowed PES2010 and it suddenly became a whole another game altoghether.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Niero. I dont agree with you at all slower skillful players a great in Pes2010 and remind me how Uefa cheated chelsea. Was it because they didnt allow the bus to park in the goals?

Before this turns into an argument about clubs let's just agree that while how KONAMI's stats have a positive influence on PES's gameplay, the default stats database are rubbish. Star players like Rooney for example have the ability to bulldoze through defenses. circa Adriano PES6

And I don't like the fact the some of the cards can't be turned off for good. E.g - Marseille Roulette. In Chelsea, I noticed Alex has the card, what the hell is the point of him having it? And we can't even remove it.

Oh, and I miss the old hexagon system for players.

And as jimmy said, if KONAMI allowed us to set the difficulty in ranked matches it wouldn't be a Ronaldo, Messi, Etoo, Rooney wankfest all the time.
If they allowed us to turn on injuries would be a plus as well. So I can hack them off the field if I find them over-dominating.

What's really irritating is that the added time is rubbish in PES.
I can't believe it hasn't gained more note.
There was one instance where Jon Champion had just announced the amount of added time, before he even got to finish his sentence, the ref blew the whistle. :|

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Agreed 100% Zakov. There is always the option to fix the stats for players.
Online is better but what I gathered playing last weekend at a mates place is that it is unstable (understand that I'm in South Africa). Not to mention the fact that all these tossers online use Barca and Madrid and get ranked for winning with these super teams.

Just because there is a game style that one doesnt like it doesnt mean that it should be absent from a game that supposed to be realistic (or not? then what FIFA?)....
Defence is a JOKE in PES online...Speed is rewarded 100 times more than technique...look at Deco or Lampard....they have huge stats in the centre midfield but due to the game speed being the A and Z of victory players with much lesser stats but higher speed become more useful....
Man City has become a HUGE monster online just based on SPEED...
As for that Chelsea match it is much more honest to park "the bus" infront of the goal than to park the referee....

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I do wish they go back to the old replay system. I used to watch some replays and match highlights, now i skip everything, way too long and way too boring.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I don't think Konami will do any more DLC apart from the January transfer update. Konami really should update all the national kits for the world cup (for free), but the fact that they only included the new Japan kit in the last update and didn't bother with the new Germany kit or all the African kits that had already been released says to me that they wont bother.

Please prove me wrong, Konami.

What I would love is some more stadia as DLC. I'm getting bored of the 20 or so we have to chose from. Fifa has about 50, not that it makes the game more tolerable.

Call of Duty gets new maps, Forza gets new tracks, so why don't we get new stadia in our football games? I'd definitely pay for them.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

It's without a shadow of a doubt the best and most realistic PES I have ever played by a long way. Here are a couple of reasons for me personally.

- The highest level of individuality for the players yet.

- The tactics, player cards, sliders give you so much control over your team and AI.

- The massive emphasis on first touch, genius.

- The best looking PES ever.

- The best ML, BAL ever. CL and Europa.

- The most challenging PES I have ever played.

I really dont understand what people want, unless of course they prefer a more arcade style experience. Fifa will give you that on fully assisted.

100% agreed Jimmy.

The more I have played this the better it has become, everything you mention here is spot on in my book:))

Pleased to hear you are still enjoying it. I'm playing it more and more and the people that wrote this game off without giving it enough time are missing out. It's still the purist's choice in my book.

I've just downloaded an option file for the 360 and applied it using the data migration cable, and wow! It makes this game even better.

Agree completely, there's a lot of that old PS2 PES 5/6 feeling back this year on the PS3, but...

They really need to do something about the lack of fouls being called and virtually none in the box - very close to a game-breaker. It would be an excellent summer if they could address this in the January transfers patch...

Till this logostyle not get changed Pes will be always a bugfull game.

pes2008_logo.gif
pes-2009-logo.jpg

Pes2008 Pes2009 and now Pes2010 with same logo. If i see the same logostyle everytime my hate gets bigger on Cocknami.

What they better can do is bringin Pes5 back on Nextgen. The best Pes ever was!

Like i said this almost an year ago, The nextgen Pes will always an bugfull game. The game engine need to change. Doesn't Konami read anything about evo-web? Can't they see that so much people complains about this nextgen fok. Pes5&Pes6 4 Ever.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

They need to stop making restrictions, to restrict the player in his ability to do things on the pitch.
They need to open up the game engine, u push what u push and it happens like u wish.
It needs to feel free, like Pes3 or Pes6 or every pes til 2008.

All this is mostly gone when they did the change to NextGen, nothing but a new engine will fix it.

e.g.

cpu or opponent making a counterattack, and your defense running backwards, no matter what u do in the tactics or u push to set the Ai to press...nothin helps
if i want to i should do it, i mean wtf is wrong whit em
they do such things to make the game look ! real, to conceal the some serios issues of the game
fix the issues and stop concealing and fucking over the community who make em big

or the through balls, what a joke that is
on opponents corners sometimes u cant do anything, some dude pushing himself infront of a player u cant run whit another no help, its like make foul whit the player behind(penalty) or get a header goal against u

a LOT of these things in the game

if i want to play pressing i cant switch the players quickly, always a BIT to late so cpu can play onwards..
...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I can't help thinking that they need to do some motion capture for animations. Especially the goal-keeping ones. The keepers have a delay before they dive so they normally begin the dive when he ball is to close to them. In order for this to work, the animation is very fast and unrealistic. I'd love to see some proper goalie animations with a lot of variety. One handed saves or even the keeper diving the wrong way on one vs one situations. Just different stuff that happens all the time.

I will say that some one vs one situations look great. The dive, the finish and the way the net bulges but they could add a little more variety in there. Same with long range shots.

I think Konami have got most things right this year though. All in all i'm loving the game.

I'd also love to see different control animations like knee control or more little flicks etc...

Having a proper target man role would be great aswell. Having a big guy upfront who can bully the centre back and control ariel balls before laying them off - a chest down before rolling the ball with the bottom of his foot to a nearby team-mate. If they put a lot of work into these sort of animations, they'd be on to a winner. Again it's all about variety.

More intelligent player runs wouldn't go a miss either.

I agree entirely, but on the first point what happened to the motion capture last year? Remember all the videos with Messi rigged up to the motion capture gear? Very little motion capture made it into the game, that's for sure.

I think new nationals kits will be in the next DLC...And for adidas kits there will be the option "SMALL or LARGE" like Japan...The kit update wasn't in the last DLC (1.3) because brand new kits were too early...Of course for Japanese team is a different issue (I remind you Konami is from Japan)...;)

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I to am addicted to PES2010.

Just about to finish my third season in Master League, spent the two seasons building my team, Juan Mata was my only star signing, the rest of the team up and coming youngsters and loan signings. Didn't win much in during the first two seasons, but things have really clicked this current season and am on the verge of completing the treble (League, FA Cup and Champions League).

It is really satisfying building a team over a period of seasons and now seeing them develop into something special.

PES2010 while not perfect does the core things right and is a return to form for the series.

If you take a look at the ML thread in this forum you will see that many people agree. Including myself, most addictive game I have played in years. Probably the best Master League... Dare I say it, Ever.
