Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread (PC + 360 demos out now!)

Hmm I see what you're saying jimmy. We'll have to put our faith in pesfan and wenb (spit) and see if the response issues are sorted. My favourite goals on Pes is open a defence up with 1 touch passing between 3 or more players and that only comes from fluidity not long, lethargic animations and unresponsiveness.
btw I was kidding about the FIFA bit.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread (PC + 360 demos out now!)

I really couldnt go to Fifa mate. But I'm not giving up on PES 2010 either bud. There is so much I really like about it Zee, but am I a realist, and basically those issues need addressing for me to have that complete PES 'feel', something thats only unique to PES.

I appreciate the more sim feel they are looking to achieve which is great. I also appreciate that in order to do that in some cases compromises need to be made. I'm also fully aware it's the old, 'You need to get used to it and then it will feel great' aspect of PES games. Which for the most part is very true.

But Football is a game of instinct, whether I'm playing in real life, or on a video game, you know what your doing for the most part in advance. This speed of thought and implementation needs to be 'felt' in a football video game. The shooting for example, I always shoot based on the height of the ball, body position, footing, etc etc, and I feel on this demo, when I try to time the strike as I would in real life there is a delay that doesnt need to be there and takes alot of the feel off the strike and the following animation. This doesnt happen in 2009.

Shooting from distance is great if you have the time and space to hold down the power bar, but still feels too linear for me at the minute.

Obviously in real life, due to the speed of the current real game, improvisation is also a major factor. I just feel this demo is lacking in certain areas that lose a little of the 'feel' of PES. With response issues addressed, this can play like a different game. Thats what I want.

But after alot of thought and testing, I cant honestly put my name to it and say its amazing in hindsight and the best yet. I'm no fanboy, I say what I see, good or bad. Just sometimes it takes me a little longer to dissect all the technical aspects before making a final judgement.

Although this is only a demo, I'm worrying a little bit as I found the PES 2009 demo to be very good, even with it's flaws. This is very good, but lacks something, and it all revolves around response and some ball physics, although not all.

Didn't someone who has the later code, say that the response time is better on his version, as well as the pace and animations, been trying to find it, think it was someone from WENB.

It's a strange one Zee, and something I've been pondering all last night and today. I'm not sure whether the response issues are coded that way to add realism. What I mean by that is, there are certain times, sprinting for example, when the ball is away from your feet, naturally there has to be a slight delay until the ball is back into your feet before you can play the pass.

On other occasions, especially 1st touch passes, when your press the pass in advance there is no delay. Also, different players, Messi as an example has no response issues. This would be down to his outstanding technique. But on the demo we have world class players across the park, so really, these guys should have no issues with controlling the ball and laying it off.

I worry for the lesser players, the ML players etc. What would their response be like ?

Hopefully it will be all sorted on release. I really cant see Konami losing one of their ace cards. There is no excuse either, its not like PES 5, PES 6, PES 2009 had any real response issues, and they played a lovely game of football. We are in an age of Next Gen, surely unless your using highly complex animations, this shouldnt even be an issue. More so that Konami have built a series on individuality, response times and physics. This is their area of expertise, no question.

Didn't someone who has the later code, say that the response time is better on his version, as well as the pace and animations, been trying to find it, think it was someone from WENB.

Yes they did mate, so hopefully it will be resolved.

I feel they have a brilliant game here, it's just currently clouded by these issues. When the mist clears, the beautiful game could shine gloriously.

P.S. Nice videos Junka.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread (PC + 360 demos out now!)

I get the feeling the response time was meant, but think they over done it a bit, which I am sure they will realise and correct. Just hope they don't let us PS3 owners down with a below par effort, and hope its equal to the 360 version.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread (PC + 360 demos out now!)

I'm fine with a slow response time as long as the player has time on the ball, but when he's under pressure or near the byline, you expect some sense of urgency. To watch the player in control dally about with the ball with 6 opposition players around him does not strike me as an accurate portrayal of high-intensity football.

The game itself is obviously just not with it yet again. The shooting is buggered, the ball just doesn't go where/how you want it to go, the shooting animations are unrealistic, the ball usually goes wherever it feels like as opposed to the corner you were aiming for etc. etc.

Freekicks are still atrocious. The power bar is just useless, it is extremely sensitive and the increments of power do not correspond to the end result in the slightest. Also, the animation styles do not match up with how the ball travels. I cannot understand how they failed to implement something they had mastered on a previous generation, they've just botched it entirely.

Goalkeepers are decent shotstoppers, but have the foot skills of a modern day Dario Silva.

To continue the theme, I also hate the passing. Every time I press O or X I feel as if I am being shoehorned into playing as the game wants me to play. It feels as if I'm playing with the stabilisers on.

One plus point however is the curl. It's pretty much spot on, especially compared to the Mickey Mouse physics adopted by Fifa.

This is quite disconcerting actually, the game is being shown up big time and it's becoming quite the joke. Fifa has come out all guns blazing and, in response, Konami has turned up with a blindfold on and have promptly shot themselves in both feet.

I'm going to upload some WE10 videos soon because that game not only was great fun, it also played like how an actual game of football would unfold. To go from such heights to now scraping the bottom of the barrel is somewhat disheartening. Admittedly the game is an improvement, but it's a 6/10 game at best. I know that there are folks dead set against it no matter what, but PES is now a bit of a marmite game, whereas before it was universally liked.

I don't know. For me, as someone for whom PES has a special place in my underwear, this is a very, very poor showing. Hopefully some folk here are aware that I'm not here to stick the boot in and question how you could possibly consider playing such a game in the presence of the almighty Fifa overlords. But it's becoming quite clear that the game we long for is not soon in coming. I loved PES for it's unique features and distinct styles of play. Before you could pick a team like Nigeria and selotape R1 down, or you could cobble together a team of brick shithouses and never concede, now it's a case of pick Barca/Real and hope you win the battle of monotony. I think the final version would have to be a considerable leap from the demo for me to consider a purchase.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread (PC + 360 demos out now!)

The final game will fix a lot of problems, that is for sure. The thing is that will be enough for some people. For me, it will be enough. I have runners fest at PES 2009, there is no fucking way at all to compare this demo, even a bit flawed, with that game, which is not bad, but it is not really good with automated tackles and speed Gods.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread (PC + 360 demos out now!)

PES 2010 contains all the most utterly aggravating things you can find in any football game. Its like a celebration of all the things about football games that you hate all roled into one. Its sluggish, unresponsive, boring, repetative, keepers are utter ****e, has BLATANT sweetspots, Contains GOD players that make a mockery of any pretentions of human skill, passes feel laboured, and it has the same old 1 dimensional gameplay that pes has been churning out for years.

I really dont know how they could have possibly got it so wrong but they have.

I have uninstalled this crap from my machine and certainly wont be buying it….probs wont even bother to pirate it either…it really is that bad.

Time for Seabass and his team to call it a day I think.

Response times are what makes PES. Always has done. Maybe I'm placing too much blind faith in Konami - and I really shouldn't after the last 3 years - but I think the response times will be a non-issue come release.

I shouldn't take too much stock in what Adam says, either, but he doesn't seem too worried about it either.

Just found this on wenb:

I've been playing the game for around 3 hours, and wanted to give you initial impressions.

First of all, the review code is not final code. I think I incorrectly stated this in the past. It seems its around 90%, with the bulk of what will be in the final game. The only thing left to do is polish.

Embargo's are in place, thats why you haven't seen people who have code shout about it and start to detail gameplay details. Luckily, me and Suff can talk about it on the podcast. But this means no videos or screenshots as yet from the code. Don't worry though, as A) you have the demo tomorrow, and B) we will get final retail code early October.

I'm going to be brief and try to do all my explaining in the podcast. So, we'll have some bullet points:

- Response times improved immensely! So happy about this
- Defending and collisions with players more realistic than previous code
- No excessive use of side foot shot animation, much more variety
- Fake teams now licensed, list to follow after embargo lifted
- Graphics have been touched up some more, really is incredible
- Loads of new faces (Balotelli, Santon etc)
- Still 22 stadiums
- Edit mode same as 75% version
- Penalties still not implemented
- More transfers done, but still some left (Sneider to Inter etc)
- New subtle animations. Nothing massive, but plenty of little animations to improve the flow of the game
- Quite a few licensed bands

Thats it for now. Due to embargo I can't be too detailed in my responses, but feel free to ask questions about certain things. Might be good to wait for the podcast though.

Back to PES 2010!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread (PC + 360 demos out now!)

Also, we should bear in mind that this demo is out much earlier than usual. I'm sure plenty of work has been done on this game between now and when the demo was prepared.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread (PC + 360 demos out now!)

Runnings, dribblings are not 8 or 16 way.I am not sure,it's 360 or 32 way but so much better than previous pes games IMO.

Here is my dribbling video with Henry.Watch full screen and see little turns ; )

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread (PC + 360 demos out now!)

Acey, how did you get that top-down overview? That's not in the demo...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread (PC + 360 demos out now!)

Btw, some guy in WENB posted a link to edit the PES demo to allow more minutes, 90 minutes if you want lol, and theres also a skin to replace the konami ball for a Nike one.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread (PC + 360 demos out now!)

Hi!

Someone is Ok with me to say that this PES2010 is very slow !!

The players are running as fast as my grandmother !!
It's unbelivebale !!!

What's a pity !! I don't understand KCET (Konami) anymore !!

I hope we will have the choice of increasing the "game speed "!!!

Tschussssssssssssssss

Yea, that Adam dude had said that penalty wasn't implemented, anyway, it is confusing as heck, all my penalty shots that had gone in were without using the stick.

AntrAcs_A

you are ridiculous...
of course adam sucks, but saying pes 6 is better than 2010 is just a lie!
The only thing thats better are maybe the keepers, but the rest is miles away from 2010:)

fake shots: press shoot, then press pass. got it?

On this stage , PES 6 is much much better from this PES 2010 build . Аnd you really think that "press shoot, then press pass." in PES 2010 is the fake shot ?
