Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Pesfan's Boss said the newer build looked better and the pace was way slower so I trust this is the direction Konami will be taking, especially after the unanimous disappointment over the fast pinball action seen in the first GC clips...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

this is sounding more interesting as the days go by,hope its not a case of smoke and mirrors from konami as after watching that closeup video the game looked alot better and if indeed the gamescon code is old then maybe i might be swayed to part with my cash

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Quick question pat. Was the passing using the right-analog more precise(in terms of direction) than in PES09? Even if I don't use it much(passing via right analog) I want to know whether the passing is indeed improved and not on rails. Maybe not fully 360 but more directions to choose from.

cheers

I witnessed 140ish degrees manual high pass in one of the videos, 100%. The pass wasnt completed but it was attempted. So I'm sure it's in, it definately needed sorting. What I witnessed wasnt possible in 2009 as I tried it many, many times with zero success.

I always appreciated what Konami were trying to acheieve with the left stick being used for feints in conjunction with the R2 button, even if it put people off that were more akin to using the right stick for tricks. It does make sense naturally for this type of movement to be in co-ordination with your left stick. When mastered you could pull off seemless feints and body swerves that beat a man in a very short space. You just needed to draw the lead and it required excellent timing. The animations although far from brilliant were realistic from a physics perspective, instinctive and responsive. The only down side was if you didnt use R2 you could still do a roulette by mistake which was frustrating.

Combining the left and right stick in conjuction with R1 and R2 which is what they have done in 2010 will open up so many new options for beating a man. Also the signature feints for the star players will have their own unique animation which will add to the realism. These are the type of different feints you see sometimes after 6 months of playing the game, which always puts a smile on your face.

It will just take some getting used to thats all, but worth it in the end. As in 2009, players with high dribbling ability, have more of these subtle feints at their disposal. It took me ages to master the 'nutmeg' move, and it's still hard to pull off, your timing has to be spot on.

Yep, that's my main gripe with the analog passing. Since the analog is supposedly used to enable us to pass in more directions, its definitely a must that they make sure passing can be made in more directions,it felt more like 4 directions in PES09.

I agree about the trick being back to the way it was, the problem was with PES09, anyone, can pop out a skill by accident, as u mentioned.
I mean how often do you actually see a marseille roulette in one football match?

Thankfully its been said that in PES this year, only skillful players would be able to pull it off with ease.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I sure hope they get the manual passing right. It would add so much depth to the game if done right.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Just saw FIFA10's latest video. While the turns, runs and overall movement was incredible (including a very evident 360-degree everything), there was absolutely no tactical play, AT ALL... something IMO renewed my excitement for PES2010 again, esp after the news from Seabass (1-month old build) and that last video...

It basically was only 4 directions, pathetic. On the few occasions I ever hit a 45 degree manual high pass, it was by mistake when I tried to do a straight pass. Which is even more frustrating. I like the manual option though, especially for knocking it into space down the line, it worked very well. But with only four directions it was poor at best.

I remember in the PES 2009 demo, you could pull off constant roulette's, one after the other with every player, without ever losing control of the ball.
It was awful, it reminded me of something else. Thankfully it was addressed before the full version was released.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

It works both ways Knight, just because someone has finally played PES in a proper way in one of the latter videos and FIFA's videos seem to be of throughball/chipmerchants doesnt reflect the game.

Even PES' animation looked far better in that last video because it was zoomed in, it was the same with one of the FIFA vids.

Basicly the majority of vids are pointless and don't do either games justice. Fortunatly the demo's arent too far away now (FIFA's in 3 weeks)

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The more i see it, the more i like it

In addition, i think Pes graphics are one of the most beautiful in a sport game, incredible :BOP:

Amen.

Before playing the game I would have been looking at all these videos (of both games) and saying "look, if that's how it is in a video, that's how it will be when I play it". I wouldn't have been impressed with any of them.

Having played FIFA 10, we all said - I think it was half-way through the second match - "wow, the trailers and the gameplay videos do this no justice at all do they?"

Put either game in the hands of a games journalist who hates football and only ever plays Call of Duty, and they'll look like crap. I will give both demos a spin as always.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Yeh the new Fifa vid was disappointing (the players playing were awful) but i promised myself i'm not going to be sucked into this debate about "PES builds".

Well said. Journalists have a list of games they should cover, regardless whether or not they like them...

I read a review of Madden 10 in one of the big UK newspapers and the reviewer gave it 3/5 basically because he didn't understand the sport and hadn't a clue what he was doing.

Just don't bother reviewing it if that's the case.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Did I miss something...PES has manual passing, if so how is it implemented? with the buttons or on the right analog stick?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

New Pes video looks not bad;)Thx Pat.
Thanks:)

When I tried running through with Westermann is the best, isnt it?:P

Edit: played PES 2009 today to test it and had to turn it off after 10 min (ingame minuted). The difference is dramatic:O

Then played PES5 and it reminded me of 2010 from gamescom. I'm not saying that because I get money from konami, its my honest opinion)
The main differences are game speed and fluidity:)

PS I have more to come, also some possibly background images with real life Torres shooting;)

Seabass is my hero, really:)

He was very nice when I met him, not arrogant or so at all, very simpatic:)
