PES2010 discussion thread

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I think anyone expecting the game to look much better than that is expecting to much, 50% may not be the complete game but its still got the foundations of what the end product will be. The animations will improve how it looks but gameplay wise I think we'll see similar stuff with tweaks.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

They did the same with the GT5 pre orders, can't be a coincidence.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Apparently:

There is now a manual growth option in master leagu.
Based on player performances, you get mini points which can be used to manually improve the attributes of the player.

Also in become a legend mode all the football boots increase certain attributes. For e.g the F50's will add +4 speed while the adi pure will add +4 accuracy.

Ok the manual points is good but why, oh why dear lord would konami add attributes to boots.

I'm not keen on manual growth in the ML. I'd rather players gain experience automatically according to their growth curve.

Regarding the boots: I'm just surprised Konami got here first rather than EA.

Strange as EA is trying to make a simulator while KONAMI doesn't (obviously).

Next week will be interesting, I'm pretty certain that the build at Gamescon can't possibly be much different from what the videos has shown, even with more mo-cap. Just because it's mo-capped doesn't mean it's going to be implemented well and the animations will most likely still 'cut' in order to keep the game up to pace, as well as transitions even without cutting which isn't fixed over lunch.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

What a stupid idea to have attributes for shoes.Yes the shoes must differ from brands to brands and models to models but they cannot have an expect of the performance of any player.
Stupid idea

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I wish I was cool enough not to give a sweaty sack about this game but it keeps on drawing me in. All that is left is to be king of the gimps.

Mission accomplished

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

after watching the new video, i think pes is getting closer to pes6 days, which is good but sadly took them a bit long

cant wait for a demo release for this so can test it out

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Konami's sliders are badly implemented.
The correct way to do it:

For instance, team support: it's all wrong to set a value, and then have to change it manually acording to game situations, OBVIOUSLY because teams support varies from situation to situation. So, you should define the minimum and maximun range for it, like "min: 30 max: 70". And let the game judge according to how you're proceding: example, you're attacking but you hold the ball back -> your teammates gets closer to you.

That's how you define the behaviour of a team.

Otherwise, you'll just have to pause the game at all times and do it yourself. Totally stupid.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Here's what Adam said referring to Canniga's "euphoric" comment:
"We then had a preview from another site taken down as it was conflicting with NDA’"

He called Canniga's "Euphoric" comment, a preview that conflicted with the NDA.

Umm, isn't that akin to saying "Konami will unveil on GAMESCOM THE Euphoria Engine for PES2010 to generate tackle falls, and air collisions"?

To people over here overly sensitive about anyone suggesting new information, I'm not an insider, and I'm not stating facts. I'm just discussing what Adam said.... in what happens to be a "PES2010 news and rumors thread".

As far as Im aware, theres 4 attacking sliders and 4 defending. So doesn't really matter, as the one your on about is just attacking, so no need for two values.

It sounds fine how it is, and looks to work, so all good from there I would say... Plus its manual, so you can change it how you want, as apparently you can quickly change it in game or something... not to sure with that though :S

Pretty sure that he talked about Level7's preview, mate. :P

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

That's why my example included an on-the-ball (attacking) transition where the tactical drawing (team support in this case) changes from one extreme to the other. That said, can you define those extreme points, or you have to do it manually?

I have to say as well, lately reading through, I love the desperation people are putting in to try and slate or destroy anything that is positive... And no, not lunch, they have atleast a month to still work on the game after Gamecon or whatever, so several lunches to be exact.

Jeez

I don't think they can be set, I believe they will be manually done, however I heard there will be a quick way to change it anyway... as then you can even go between the extreme points set as you said, allowing more freedom and more variety during the game, which I think would be better, only if its easy and simple, if you have to pause and it has quick strategy, that would be rather annoying...

Although, if this is 360 degree movement is true, then the directional pads are freed, so maybe up and down cycles through the strategy, and left and right lowers and highers the value, which would be awesome.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I don't understand why would Adam (of a certain WENB site) defend Konami most of the time?! We know that they've taken them under their wing and they would like to thank them for that but that shouldn't prevent them from saying their opinion and criticising the game or when they screw up. I get the feeling that they try to cover up for Konami, when it's obvious that they screwed up.
Any way, I hope i'm wrong and the game is what was promised to be and all be happy.

Wow.. Same like Evolution GT :P
So I can get to the conclusion that this is the so called "evolution" the title of the game talks about..

Well, let's get serious.. I really don't feel comfortable about sliders being used online.. There will be plenty of "bimbominkias" (well, you can translate it with "little annoying kids that always tend to screw things up and who would even sell their mothers to get a win") that will pause the game everytime they get the ball and everytime they lose it just to exploit some of the sliders.. So frustrating..

If they could be changed on the fly (with the D-pad maybe in combination with L2 or R2) they would be useful but having to pause the game everytime you have to make a tactical change, well, I'd rather keep the :l2: + :triangle: :square: :circle: :x: method, sorry..

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

All right, this is one department PES has always gotten right over FIFA, and that's the real-time tactics changing. PES, when it was done right, could get awfully competitive with the tactics changes so I think real-time strategy changes will be one aspect of the game that KONAMI will get right above all else. Yesterday's video was devoted to the tactics system, and the sliders and the cards do exactly what they've been advertised to do: offer the depth FIFA has brought to the table with their slider system and refine it PES-style. With the cards and what seems to be an intricate system for fine-tuning team play, I'm pretty sure one of the features of the new Teamvision is implementation of said tactics to create a more realistic and tactical style of footy.

I guessed that passing probably won't change much unless 360 movement is included, in which case I think the stat-assisted passing system SHOULD still work to achieve the desired effect of having a complete passing radius but with some scripting involved. That being said, the game will probably play much better compared to 2009 now that tactics will actually make your team run and you can actually play with some real football intuition and hopefully some fluidity will come out of it.

All will be revealed at Gamescom, and let's just sit back and wait, shall we?

If they could be changed on the fly (with the D-pad maybe in combination with L2 or R2) they would be useful but having to pause the game everytime you have to make a tactical change, well, I'd rather keep the :l2: + :triangle: :square: :circle: :x: method, sorry..

If PES will return to greatness, that critical button combo can't be removed; Again, if 360 movement really will be in 2010, I'm pretty sure tactics will be mapped to the D-pad and we'll see what KONAMI do with THREE shoulder buttons/triggers- hopefully some interesting gameplay additions like skilled dribbling perhaps? (That last part doesn't count as FIFA talk, I hope...)

So they have gone back to the first game on next gen in 3 yeasrs......................that is not something I would shout about:FAIL:

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I think it is safe to state, considering the past years, that the final build won't be much different.......I pray to God I am wrong, but if Cologne does not show drastic improvement then we can abandon all hope...
