PES2010 discussion thread

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Another problem in both FIFA and PES: they conceive the pitch as a perfect uniform surface. Ball physics will never be GREAT until the ball can roll on an slightly imperfect surface (ergo "a football pitch"). It's so obvious!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

PES still fails dramatically in moving and passing. It just can't combine both.
When players are about to make a pass, they stop their pace and the ball magically stops as well. This eliminates the possibility of fluid passing and passing with any pace. Plus, the players and the ball still move on rails and the ball still seems like it was filled with some metal, or the earth gravity is so strong the ball can't bounce 3 times in a row.

But the most important:
The card system ain't gonna work: you simply won't remember which cards your 11 players are using and which ones they should be using instead: will you pause the game 50 times per game to change the cards? you just won't, you will hate it (unless it's automatic, but the comp can't decide that for you, right?).

And the sliders, for god's sake, are the biggest flaw. Options like more or less team support are DYNAMIC in real life, purely situational. Players can't be open wide or close to each others as a constant, they do both according to game situations.

So if you want a tactical aproach:

Get the ball.
pause the game: set the sliders for kind of attack you're going to execute.
You lose the ball.
Pause the game: set Dany Alvez card to go back. Set the sliders to defend closely. Set your striker to chase defenders.
You recover the ball.
Pause the game: set your striker to move upfront quickly. Set your back four to move forwards.
You pass the ball to Xavi.
Pause the game: Set all players to get close to Xavi.

And so on till eternity.
They just got it all wrong. They made it fully exhaustively manual when it should have been fully super automatic.

That's why my theory would be the following control mechanism:

- left analog for moving with manual pass on X, O, A,

- D-PAD for on the fly tactics settings - cross media bar style: you select with up and down the necessary parameter and with left right you adjust the sliders ... Konami won't be smart enough to implement this :) By the way I don't get why we need so big range 0... 100? 0 ... 20 would be more than enough

- right analog for tricks

This above 3 implementation with decent AI and maybe physics engine ould make my day on next wednesday..

And fix the nets (It can't be hard enough to implement squarish nets

PS - Video was made in June
Although I completely disagree with the way in which eaststrikewest went about addressing you, the sentence I've quoted doesn't do you any favours.

Stating the video was made in June is pure conjecture and merely your opinion, yet you've worded it as fact.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

OK lets take a step back and just dab the brow.

I'm so dissapointed with what I have seen and quite angry that I may well be taken for a cunt for the 3rd year running, but it is just a game and it's not worth getting so pissed about.

I've had (like the rest of you) 3 years of the same pattern from shit trailers, to promises of huge differences after watching an incomplete (supposed) code, but by the time my fingers hit the pad, it plays exactly how it looked from th early gameplay videos.

With this in mind I have resigned myself that what we see is what we get and that looks like another average game.

If (and its an if the size of the african continent)that it is 55% build then I may be surprised, but I just can't see it, the clue will obviously be in the Gamescom video, which is showcasing the "product", this needs to be a revolution to convince fans that its changed from the pinball, robotic shite of the last 3 years.

I'm amazed that something as simple as animation in a footy game has not yet been showcased in any form, it's not something new and amazing, its a given in a football game which only raises more suspicion on my part, let alone expecting 360 degree freedom.

I like the look graphically but the cards are uneccersary, it should all be about the actual action on the pitch, the gimmicks come after you get that right. This could be a mask to tempt people into a perception that there is something "new" about the game, increasing sales which it will for the mums and dads purchasing it on behalf of the kids.

I dunno it all stinks, but inside i'm praying I see something different in 8 days time...........................I somehow doubt it:CRY:

That'll be my fault - ThomasGOAL said it over at WENB and I've mentioned it a few times in here, followed by the words "believe what you will". I believe it but I'm not stating it as a fact.

2876475 crap replies deleted, some users banned. Keep it on topic here, guys, which is PES 2010 and nothing else.

Plz, unless you've oriented yourself to the subject, don't presume things. ThomasGOAL has already stated it as FACT that the video was made in June, not me.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

FFS guys I leave you lot for a day and the thread turns to shit.
I for one do not think the video is bad at all the strategy sliders and cards look excellent along with the graphics and IMO the way the ball moves on the pitch is nice and organic.
Also they only really show Messi and Alves dribbling the ball more than 5 steps and those look good.

I dont know if this what we will be looking at come october but the video looks like the 50% build that everyone played and PSM3 reviewed, what with the old barca and all.

Lets see what Gamescom brings then we can decide because that will be the game without a doubt.

Therein are words of wisdom, but don't you have a niggling feeling, dejavu perhaps? I don't want to but unfortunately experience has got the better of me.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Thank god it's only 7 days to wait as well.

I'm still really excited for PES2010. Today's debacle can be put down to another shambolic marketing decision from Konami. The fans want to see change and this video didn't show it. I think they will show something big at Gamescom. Today's video really didn't need to see the light of day.

One positive is that the graphics look fantastic. Look at the night lighting at 5:30 in the video - it looks very realistic.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I think the hype about 360 movement coming to PES is very optimistic thinking. The fact is that the game did not have it implemented in june and they can't just put the 360 movement there, it has a huge effect in meny aspects of the game and they will have to change and tweak many things in the game. So do you think that they will put the 360 movement there, create new animations and get it all working well in a couple of months. What have they done to their game until june, just put better graphics there? I really think they can't have done any major tweaks to the gameplay before implementing the 360 movement..

the only hope is that the videos have been some PES 2009-with-new-tactics -stuff but i really doubt that.

The euphoria could be a possibility. I mean using it in certain situations such as tackles. But that is pretty much guessing because nothing has clearly hinted towards usage of euphoria..

PS. The talk about how ready the game is also ridiculous. How can anyone know what does it mean that the game is 50 or 60% ready.. The game has been 50% ready in june and the other 50% will contain new animations, euphoria, 360 movement, basically the most significant and hardest to implement things in the game... :)

There is always a chance that the build used for the trailer/demo to mags was the june build but finished even earlier ie may and no other builds will be shown until gamescom - here's me praying!!!

I hear you doc. We have reason to be cautious. Those strategies mean f'all if the CPU AI doesn't pressure me to change tactics. I want to be forced to tighten the midfield and stop Alves from pushing up the field when Chelsea tighten the screws.

As for the video, I dont know what konami were trying maybe they just wanted to release it so that the gamescom version looks 'fresh' or they just wanted to wet the appetite but didn't expect the onslaught of you crazy europeans.

sorry to mention this here but the Fifa trailer was also wierd. I mean here is a franchise talking football sim. Then they release a video showing a striker doing circus tricks and chipping the ball 50m over the keepers head and into the net. All while the defender stroked his bum.

Just PR BS from both camps, EA and KONAMI. I think this thread will be a little more reasonable once the NDAs are lifted.

:APPLAUD: I know what ya mean. I suppose Konami are damned if they do and damned if they don't, peeps (incl mine) are expectant, anything but a major change= major dissapointment.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

remember last year at liepzig they claimed that it was an early build and they got to see a version backstage which was better that never appeared.
I expect the same again

That was PES2008. Konami were privately showing a better version out the back rather than show it off at a major games convention.

Classic.

Yes and I remember you saying PES 2010 being the next gen PES 3.
I blame you if it fails!
I still think Konami are going to pull this one out come Gamescom. I just hope we get decent footage and proper unbiased journalism.

Amen to that. Non-soccer oriented websites like Gamespot are pouncing at a chance to slaughter PES2010. They don't get that it takes more than 5 mins to judge a football game.

Theres no reason for it not to be, but if it isn't what have they been doing for the last 3 years.
But then again Magazines and Sites in the pockets of Konami will claim its great and ppl will still buy it in droves and konami will rub there hands claiming job done.
Rinse and repeat next year.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Apparently:

There is now a manual growth option in master leagu.
Based on player performances, you get mini points which can be used to manually improve the attributes of the player.

Also in become a legend mode all the football boots increase certain attributes. For e.g the F50's will add +4 speed while the adi pure will add +4 accuracy.
