PES2008 PS2 version is the lost game / video thread

Hey guys! I finally discovered this gem on emulator and it plays awesome!

I was wondering if there was an original season option file with the Bundesliga included? I tried searching in the thread but couldn't find one.

I've tried @Juventino32's OF and it's really awesome, a very well made OF!. :) But even though I love the J-League, I would also like to have an option with the Bundesliga (perhaps replacing Eredivisie, or being in "other leagues") to have a more "European" experience.. If anyone could give me a hand finding one, it'd be much appreciated, thanks! :TU:

Try mine. It has the Bundesliga.

WTF? So random, I know the guy in your avatar! I'm listening to him right now whilst typing this. You're an O&A fan???

My avatar is Antwan Kumiya. He is a Tunsia knife fighter. Yes, I listened to every show from 2004 to 2014. I am listening to them again in order.

@the_dude Thanks a lot!! This is exactly what I was looking for. I just tested it and it works like a charm! :TU:

A question though.. Is this the same Juventino's OF with Bundesliga? Or is it a different OF altogether?

It is different. It has Bundesliga. Then I added Zenit, CSKA Moscow, Shaktar Donestsk, and Legia Warszawa because I like Russian and Polish clubs.

I posted it in the Retro-PES thread but maybe it's better to ask here.

I do have a question : is the USA version of PES 2008 (released after PES 2008 Europe and Winning Eleven 2008 Japan) plagued with the same database issues (5000 salary points, ...) as its European release counterpart ?

Played several ML seasons on it... never saw it happening
If you've the game, can you let me know if the french audio comments are from Darren Tulett ?

I've just ordered the USA game. If it does not have the database issue and it also has French commentaries, it will be a nice version for my needs.

Can you also unlock the extra diffiulty setting in the US version ?

Hey Juventino, sorry for the wait

Yes, it doesn't have the database issue... this is from my current longest ML save, on 4th season, the most expensive players:

As for the french commentaries, these are the commentators:

But the extra difficulty isn't in the game.

Thanks for replying !
Ah it's fun to see that in the USA version, they changed the "coverage" person.

Also, the salary issue is happening with players created in an "Other League C" team.
I remember that to test the issue, I used to create "Lehman" in spot PlayerA1 (Team A) (using the import feature of the PES editor) and then start a ML. His salary used to be 5000.

If you start a ML with hidden/classic players disabled, are they still appearing ? In the European PS2 release, the issue is there but no in the PSP version.

I tried the game and I can't believe Konami didn't fix the 5000 point issue for the US game. The game came out in March 2008 in the USA so I didn't buy it back then. I bought the European version. It was in German and I dont speak German.

So the only game that doesn't have the issue is World Soccer Winning Eleven 11?

It's amazing indeed, given that PES 2008 USA has been released after WE 2008 (WE 11) where the issue is solved. Come on Konami ...
I guess you got the French / German version. :-)

I'm currently working on an WE 2008 OF.

Maybe i never saw the 5000 players becuase i play with the original DB with only the nomes corrected

But at least this version doesn't have the contract renewal bug

Indeed, I noticed in the European release that default player Gutierrez asks 0 points for his contract renewal.

The European ML is so bugged (5000 points, 350 for Japanese & Korean players, hidden/classic players always showing up, contract renewal) that I've started to create an OF from scratch for WE 2008.

It will contain the original DB, with all names correction, kits of unlicensed teams + other league C filled in with J2 league, Boca Jr and 2 other J1 clubs with all stats taken from JL 2008 game.

Interestingly when I played this I had a few players in my team jump to 5000 but when buying players I noticed a lot of players at 1 point, I gave up as it was going to bankrupkt/game over me.

Just received the USA version of PES 2008 so that I've all the 2008 editions in my collection :D :
- PES 2008 Europe
- WE2008 / WE11
- PES 2008 USA
- J-League 2008

Does WE 11 actually say Winning Eleven 11 on the cover?

I bought PES 2008 Europe PC from France a couple weeks ago. It cost more to ship to the USA (10 Euros) then the game itself (5 Euros).

A good collection there, do you what ones do not have the 5000 ML bug? :D

WE2008 / WE11 and J-League 2008.

It's really a pity that we can't export / import player appearance, formation and kits formulas between these versions.

If you want to edit several games, only player stats can easily be copied from one game to the other.

In terms of gameplay and other things, what differences are there between the European and USA versions of Pes 2008?

Thanks for letting me know, and you answered my next question too :)

It looks like I will be sticking with PES2008 because too much work has gone into it.

I was playing against my brother yesterday, we really have some cracking games. Still after all these years, 16 years, we see new things happening. The game is the best. :D

@geeeeee , yes, this is my fav' football game too.

Myself, I really wanted to switch to WE2008 so I'm doing it the hard way, creating an OF from scratch.

Maybe @marqisspes6 will improve his tool and allow to import / export players full data (incl. appearance), formation and kits formulas from one game to another ? (Just kidding, his tool is already amazing ! :-) )

That will be a really good effort if you do that option file from scratch. All the best with that. Not sure what stats you use but you know you are more than welcome to copy and paste my players in (once I complete my option file) If it helps save time. :)

Yeh @marqisspes6 tools are excellent, we just need to persuade him to make a tool that solves all the problems in editing PES :P

That's a good effort indeed.

In fact, my OF will be based on the original season (2007-08) and I'll only use PES stats (e.g. from other games) when creating new players or for some legends just created for fun (I always create Dario Hübner & Luis Hernández), I use the stats from PES Miti del Calcio.

For my OF, I'll release 2 edition this time :
- "Zero" Edition
- "Deluxe" Edition

The difference between Zero and Deluxe will be that in Zero, the "Other League C" will remain unedited. So Zero will contain the initial database only with all the visual aspects fixed (correct team names, correct player names, all kits done, mistakes from Konami fixed, ...). The idea is that the Zero edition can be used by others as a basis for their OF. I'd have loved to have such a file when starting my project, so since I create it from scratch, I'm doing it for the others.

For the Deluxe edition, I'll include all the missing teams to get the full list of clubs qualified for the group stage of UEFA Champions League 2007-08 + some other clubs I like.

I've made a lot of progress on the zero edition. All players names are fixed, FA Premier League kits are created, ... and I'm mostly done with the Classic teams kits. After that, I'll create the national teams kits and I'll release the zero edition.

I take a particular attention to create the classic kits, which is fun to do.

So far, I made :
- Italy based on Euro 2000 kits
- Brazil based on WC 1998 kits
- Argentina based on WC 1986 kit + the 2nd GK kit of 1985
- Netherlands based on Euro 1986 + the away kit of 1990
- France based on Euro 1984 + the away kif of 1986

England still to start.
