PES 2019 Discussion Thread (PS4, XB1)

What we will never see: the results!!

I really really really would like to see them! And gimme all the data without email address!
Not gonna happen!!

Without the final product (be it 2020 or 2021) reflecting some of the users demand... or Konami publishing the results, we will never know if theses surveys are just to calm people down or really have an impact on development! Imo!!
Despite any impact to development or not, is n't it surreal (or trolling), that the majority of possible given answers to every question about what bothers us, were problems known for years? At least they are playing their game,or they are reading pes forums. Random example, the matchmaking time in online, which sometimes is at least unacceptable, especially for the PC guys.
I mean since they acknowledge 20 negatives in offline/online just fix them, don't make us choose the 3 or 5 most annoying. Or let us choose every possible answer, if you are a survey-statistics addicted (statistics wh0r€).Or else, i will start to believe the garage-theory, that they have really so limited resources and can only focus on a limited "improvement agenda".

P.S. Reconsidering the survey with calm-mind and i am convinced more, that its purpose was to lead us to forced-specific replies. For example it could have as possible answer, that we will pre-order or buy the game ONLY if it will improve from its predecessor. A simple one, from the many coming to my mind right now.

This survey having pretty detailed questions about the game's issues is not indicative that they will fix something of that, at all. The last few years surveys have been pretty detailed, and look at what we have now.

If anything, like @Chris Davies said, maybe they will see the thing mostly complained about (probably will be Myclub) and try to improve that.
This Konami, the one that killed every single franchise they have in their portfolio, the one that doesn't have a single game releasing on console this year except a mobile effort game like Hyper Sports R, that Konami, doesn't want to invest in Pes at all.

I'm convinced Pes is going forward only thanks to microtransactions (they praise Myclub performance in everysingle financial report) and when the golden goose will be killed, like it has already happened in Belgium, Pes will be in a very troublesome spot. Then they will have to choose between stopping the development or try to actually improve the game to attract gamers.

@Emroth am about to buy; have Konami fix all issue? i.e. AI wing play? any other arising issue?
they have addressed it somewhat as in a striker through on goal won't stop and pass out wide.. But if wing play and cross is an option they tend to use that. There's very few shots from outside the area and you won't see hazard try to dribble past two defenders and place a shot

- Wingplay if fixed. They will use it but not abuse it. Its not an obsession anymore, just taking opportunity if its there.
- shots from distance are there. Not as many as we'd like but they r there
- no dribbling from AI. Occassional tripping but you wont see any flashy tricks
- havent had a penalty yet

..but overall its not bad. For a tenner in PSN Store its a no-brainer. You'll definetely get your tenner worth.

I'm really disappointed that there are no more patches to improve the gameplay. Obviously Konami is happy with the gameplay. I hope i'm not such an idiot again and buy PES20 directly on the first day. This time i need io be smarter. This game is not worth 50 Bucks or so. 10 - 15 is fine.

There are, or will be. They dont work like EA, releasing patches every week or so. But they are there. Early April next DP as far as I know. Gameplay is always tweaked in those. Then you have little ones every now and again (last little one fucked things up, but thats a different story).
They just dont explain what exactly those patches do. They are as transparent as Black Hole.
But Pes18 was solid at the end so hope is still there.

...and here is some new video footage for you to enjoy between surveys! :)

Highlights:

Full match:

There is one awesome side switch mid high cross (sounds like a tekken combo) :) ! I loved it when I played it. :D (22:18min)
Some nice goalie reactions by Pjatow. I don’t mind the final score. It was a very nice game. I tried. I lost. I will be back!!
Edit: I forgot. There are some nice defending moves I did in the video. It’s a mix of sticking with one player and using team pressure wisely. Love it when it works. (23:53min)

You not getting a like for not playing with dark blue/orange kits! ;) they are gorgeous.

Hows gameplay after this tiny tweak patch yesterday? I've seen Chris saying back to one-touch back heel fest.
I havent tried it yet.

I was really hoping for a faster pace this time. April is so damn late and i'm getting frustrated more an more. It's a shame we have to wait for so long. They should do a better job but i know it's just wishful thinking.

Yeah it is annoying. And its even more annoying, that we have to guess what they worked on, with each patch. Coz theyll say something like
"Fixed some issues"

Yeah.. thanks..

I have the game from day one.Like most of you i have the same known complaints about the game
I am an off line player. What i beleieve is that after so many complaints from players,Konami bothered to do sthing because it was clear that the game was broken
& they released 1st patch that made elements of gameplay from unnaceptable to just unplayable, in my opinion (for a game in 2019 to play like this)
It was a move more like to just "cover" the issues. Then other updates & patches came & improved some things more ,but ruined others. Many months have been passed since release & a lot of players i know abandoned the game, waiting for patches that would made the game playable.Let me remind you that in 2019 & after decades of virtual gaming we even had discussions in forums for things like our players not being able to jump for headers.Patch(es) came & then so many guys were SO happy. "I can score with a header now"!! "Cpu attackers just took a shot outside the box" !!
My god! amazing improvements! We are in football paradise! Ok, Troll mode stops.
Anyway after after 7 months & so many updates it seems that at least for gameplay vs cpu things are little better (but much behind expectations) if we compare this element with others like graphics or animation.
2 things that really make me to just not being able to have more than 2 games without closing it
On SS. Cpu controlled Defenders deliberatly just turn their bodies in the oposite way away from attackers when attckers are about to accept the ball in order to shoot or have path at goal.I dont beleive am insane or dont know to play defence.
Actually i can only avoid this if i only take control of the cpu controlled defender. But you know, i can only contoll just 1 player at a time...Plus, this ends up so tiring & not normal
In the end it just rediculus to try to build a team in ML & having so much frastration when the games are played,my players constantly leaving their possitions so cpu can score. This is happening clearly due to the lack of ability of cpu make smart plays.
It is not fun to just watch the replays after goals & see the defenders walk away from the ball & the opponets.I just end up to prefer play the other game with inferior graphics, player movement, but at least, my rest of cpu controlled players play like normal & when they score on me or when i loose it just feels normal & have more fun
Playing PES really feels great when games start but end up feeling like WTF...
Maybe after so many surveys & opinions they will just manage to come up with a game that plays like Ok

All i want is to be able to chose which patch I'm playing on.
How hard can that be?
For that they'd have to admit that they alter gameplay at all in any of these patches, when the patch notes (and anyone official you ask) say they don't...!

Wonder how much they would gain If they turned around and got a bit more transparent?
Bet people would respect their work a bit more.
Instead of "general fixes".
With that said,I'd like to see an option of which patch (offline) to play in more games.

Spent the last 10 minutes filling out the survey. Here's to hoping it leads to some change down the road because, given some of the options in the survey, it appears they are at least aware of some of the concerns parts of the community have with the game as it is.

The most disappointing part of the survey was after saying I don't play myclub, the very next page of the survey was 'why don't you play myclub?'

But anyways enough of that.

I think I am starting to get the hang of manual shooting now:

(that was one emotional celebration lol)

Now this was a tad concerning though:

No offside and no foul. I feel like the ref would have at least talked to the defender there irl.

The last 2 nights were better than the last time I posted on here. Overall I'm having more fun overall doing a player lock ML than I did doing a BAL.

Good. Glad to hear it. I have an awful feeling there wont be any BAL in pes20. Even tho I dont play it, it would be awful to see Konami turning their back on all the people who play it. At least there is some alternative with a lock player ML.

I have liked PES 2019, for the gameplay all up until about Early February and haven't played for at least a month now.

It's got nothing to do with gameplay and a bit to do with how shit the offline experience is in general. Is all to do with how empty football is in the modern era.

I think after the tragedy transfer which lead to Sala from Nantes dying. Something is almost broken in me when it comes to modern football. I honestly think a European super league is now a must, in fact an emergency!

I've noticed and it's hit an all time high now in this feeling where i will turn a football game on but i just get no excitement when I play with modern teams. Teams these days are mercenary groups who all play all out defence or this now 'generic' total football. Neither with much genuine freedom and creativity.

Agents have so much power, the only way to change things is to give them their own super league cut off from the grassroots for the joy and creativity for football to return one day.

I don't think it's anything to do with modern football. The two things that are ruining modern football games for the single player are
1. Online play (that generates money).. If you look at the ten or so patches for FIFA the actual fixes around only single player issues are minimum (still not addressed the two biggest flaws being fouls and OP AI defending) Any single player benefits have been a by product of fixing an online issue
2. Patches - allowing developers to release untested shit and worry about it later.. Except they don't have any clue to fix the flaws 6 months later

Back in the day PES /WE used to be released October and now it's August . We are essentially paying full whack for the Beta.. By the time they've tried to fix it its half price

I´m thiking why the hell do we have to accept these changes. You can ask for your money back on pretty much every single product you buy if it has problems.

PES has a lot of problems and not just PES. We should automatically be eligible for money back policy as soon as a company patches their product. I feel like I bought something, and now I´m forced to play with a diferent product. That has to have some illegal shit somewhere...

Any of you ML guys seen a drop in free kicks (Human)?
I've had 2-3-0 free kicks last three games
And everything feels less open/free now.
Could be a scripting period for me.
But something feels off right.
Feels like I'm playing Pes 17 (minus the FK's)
If or not,game length/difficulty/PA.
Thanks

To lighten up the mood a little, here is some new footage!

Over time:

Thoughts: it was just a joy to play. Patience was key. This time I do mind the score. :D
My heart was beating like crazy in the final minutes when the AI was attacking again.
The final goal made my heart beats go up too... fuma can be a bitch, you know. :D
Defending was ok. I liked some of my moves but saw a lot of failure from my side. Stupid stuff in between! Need to get better!!!
In the end: It was just so satisfying and fun.

Edit: @Emroth ;) It’s worth going back giving that like. :D

I’m enjoying this again.

Started a new ML with Aston Villa. I can’t decide if I prefer 4-4-2 diamond or the more balanced 4-2-3-1.

I really seem to cause the CPU problems with the 442.

Do you guys chop and change formations or stick with one?

Isn't it pretty much the same if they release in August or October? From August to August it's a year same as from October to October. I like the August release more to be honest as that's when the leagues start and you get excited. Would like to talk more about the online modes/game play of the game. To the mods is there a chance to open a separately online thread? Don't know if anyone would join me here lol i like this forum but I think it's a bit tiring to only talk about the AI and master league. So maybe a new online thread?

Only on a full match I realised that you werent playing with Valencia, just against Valencia. So you are forgiven for not picking deep blue kits. ;)
@rockstrongo ill report back tomorrow. Im curious about this new tiny patch, as opinions seems to vary a lot on twitter.
And @PRO_TOO is too damn mysterious to answer my question hows the gameplay after yesterdays patch. He is just posting his clips.

@Emroth last time my game was screwing with me was when I didn't apply the live update, just realised I haven't done now either.
Something just feels strange, but then again Wednesday was fine.

Do you guys chop and change formations or stick with one?
I tend to stick with one. 4-4-2 works best for me. I used to use 4-2-3-1 a lot but my counters were suffering.
On Possession football they dont seems to have such a dynamic counters and if I have one attacker I have to slow down and wait for rest of the team.
So 4-4-2 for me, but flat, with two CM's and wingers. Diamond was a bit to narrow, and if I stretched it, single CDM wasnt as effective as two CM's.
But thats just me.
