The problem I have with my Boro team in the Championship is my defence, they were shite bar Sven Bender and my most recent transfer, a 77 rated RB from Argentina who reads the game so much better than Christie. Fabio is a class above this division and he stands out massively.
The top teams defenders read the game so well, they are always there, right place, right time, so much different with the Boro team I have who have an average OVR of maybe 72-74.
When I bring in an 80 OVR, he’s a god amongst men.
The one thing I will say though, I remember PES 10 and the horrific first touches by some defenders, who also turned with the speed of an oil tanker. Yes that made the rest stand out massively individuality wise, which I loved, but it wasn’t as pretty animation wise.
PES has to try and get to the FIFA level in that regard and you can see that’s their drive, but I don’t feel that whole first touch disparity in more next gen versions as I did back then.
Whether that’s down to the fluidity of he animations or not, it’s not as pronounced
But, it’s a double edge sword, every Pro Footballer should have a decent first touch, maybe not Bergkamp-esque, but still not Sunday league level either.
