PES 2018 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

I'm watching @Matt10 pes 3 YouTube stream and loving every bit of it. He started ML with Rangers and the first game against Lokomotiv, you can see all the horrible first touches. So beautiful. I was cheering every time barota got the ball and just couldn't control it well. The heavy touches all over the place. When ivarov saved the penalty I threw my fist in the air. The spaces on the pitch were mostly covered and there was no end to end. It was just beautiful to watch. All the fouls too. Also footplanting much better than the skaty shit we have now.

I'm honestly more excited and entertained watching this than any of pes 2018s videos.

Edit: lol at castolos bad game. Izmailovs near post goal was so refreshing too. And that horrible bad strike from the left side of the box that flew to the corner flag. On supposedly assisted shooting. Stats mattered!

Can't believe I'm raving about this more than 2018.

And yes @Matt10, they don't make them like this anymore.

Hi Lami, where to find the stream? Cant find it myself.

Lmao. Never! How can I after watching this?

It's not about pes 3 per se, but more about the good football that's missing from what we have now.

There are some great things and the first touch error is far more pronounced. I have noticed it in the videos of PES 2018 though but it's far more subtle and needs tweaking, it does exist though.

However, there are little to no misplaced passes my the CPU.

Shooting and players positioning is night and day although I do think shooting was a little too erratic on older PES. Something in the middle would be ideal.

I have nothing against anyone personally, but Im 100% convinced that Konami invite the wrong people to playtest the game.

Imo, the fact that they invite fifa players to playtest the game doesnt mean much wheb even some of these "pes players" also have a 100% arcade approach to the game in the way they play it.

I watched the video uploaded by that guy PESEP and honestly, I CANT consider the opinion of anyone who cant take his finger from 1-2 button in everyfuvcking pass they make. Thats one of the things that make the game look caothic and fast.

We have to accpet we are a minority even among the PES fans crowd. I for once am the type that wont do anything to make the game easier to me wich may compromise realism. Im sure many of you are like me.

I cant take the opinion of these guys seriously. I completely understand that anyone who buys the game have the right to play the way they like to, but the way those people who are invited to playtest the game play it should be taken into account.

Being invited to playtest the game and give real and direct feedback to Konami is all a matter of being European, having an youtube account with a decent amount of subscribers, and not having a real knowledgabel of the sport and a good critical thinking. Thats it!

Its people like Lami, Matt and even Vital from wenb who should be invited to play.

Konami are only worried about inviting those guys who will attempt to convince their youtube shbscribers to buy the game instead of inviting the right people that will actually help to make the changes that the game needs.

Its all matter of selling more copies first than making the game better and recognized as the best in the future (and take the well deserved money out of it)

I love everything erratic in that game though. They showed how stats played a huge part and made you calculate things more instead of rushing into them.

The one thing that I'd say stops me from playing these is the 8 directional movement. If they were at least 16 I'd be on them 24/7.

I can understand that. I still like how Pes 3 CPU plays compared to Pes 2017 Cpu at superstar level. In Pes 3 it's smart, uses player individuality to win and teamwork, while in Pes 2017 it goes too often into cheating territory. You see passes stringed together with unreal speed and accuracy and the goals they score with those actions feel so undeserved. You really can do nothing to stop those kind of goals.
Still waiting to see how CPU will behave in Pes 2018. Adam says they are still balancing difficulty.

Damnit why you make me watch that. Such fond memories getting that out of my brothers boot and loading it up. Was outrageous how good that game was at the time after the debacle that was PES 2

i miss the great intro videos older PES games have, it's just added art from those great developers back then. Redeveloped realistic first touch is badly needed in 2019. Maybe this will give the defenders enough time to close down and cause more chances for fouls. "Killing two birds with one stone"

I must add, after watching that PES 3 video, the game menus deep in artistic design and with that arcade sound while navigating through them is what made Konami so great back then. That's the vision that's gone today, our menus today are boring.

Surprised nobody is discussing this - video of human v superstar AI has been released by Next Gen Blog.

It's my favourite video so far, though A) it's weird how the AI keeps backing off (though it could be the tactics), and B)...

3:05 OUTRAGES me. Several times beforehand you see the power bar appear above the human player's head, trying to perform a pass, and the AI manages to throw a last-ditch block in. 3:05, the shoot button is pressed, and it's ignored so that the defender can recover the ball - you can say "he needs to get his body in position to shoot", but he's running free towards the goal. In reality he's getting a shot off 100 times out of 100. Tons of similar instances too.

Apart from that, I think it looks brilliant (genuinely)... Much more human-feeling AI.

So Pes 3 is the new benchmark now?. . It's still end to end.. ..I dunno lads . . the reason you have the pass around twirl turn and pass is because the technology wasn't there for dribbling and feints . ..the same with fouls ..of course there will be more fouls, players HAVE to hold onto the ball and keep passing and twirling. . there's no other way of playing, the movement of the front players wasn't as it is today .. ..Germany's first goal against Cameroon today was pure Pes 2018 . .a nice move and a rocket shot. . .. regarding people who test out the new game. ..news for you, most people play direct football. . head for the goal pass to the wings to the fastest player and pass to the guy with the best shot stats.

Only just watched it up to 3:05 and that looked fine to me. It looked like Rakitic had a poor second touch so he couldn't reach for the shot. If that was Suarez or Messi hopefully they would have got the shot in.

Now to watch the rest :)

Also at about 8:25 I love the way Roberto controls Messi's pass. He chests it a big further than normal and has to run to get the cross in...

Back to watching the rest...

Nothing against Sep but i asked him during one of his live stream of PES 2016 if he finds the shooting way too assisted/op and he replied back on video that "not, its perfect in my opinion". That tells everything about this generations of pro evo players.

Altough during his last impression of PES18 he said shooting is assisted. So...maybe there is hope? Im glad also that Bryan and Gary fed back that shooting is way too assisted.

Outstanding video Chris . .the best footage I've seen so far . .two great saves by the keeper between 2 and 3 mins. . . the pass and turn by the winger at 7.54 were amazing. . .the A.I were brilliant.. . gives me great hope for the game now.

In this video teams cover the pitch in a much better way. I don't know if it's because of the human player that is not the usual R1, 1-2 spammer and takes his time to slow down, but CPU really feels like moving in a great way, as a real team would move.

I agree. I'm finding fault as usual, but as I said, it's my favourite video so far, by a long way. AI play doesn't seem one-dimensional, decision-making seems less perfect. The nagging worries I have are still there, but it'll be better than 2017, and 2017 was the best PES yet, in my eyes. So I'm looking forward to it.

The player vs. AI video is the best I've seen so far. It shows a completely different way of playing. Against other people you're essentially looking for errors where you can exploit the space - the AI just doesn't commit those kinds of errors so you have to actually take your time to break them down.

However, the CPU also doesn't look clinical enough for me given that it's Superstar. They should be punishing you for letting them anywhere near the box. There's a moment at 7:15 where Aubameyang is in acres of space but instead of shooting (or even passing across) he just keeps on dribbling and the player tackles him with all the ease of a podgy, italian man handling spaghetti.
