PES 2018 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

Me too.

On Twitter, someone posted a PS2 free kick video underneath it saying "you must change the camera to switch back to gameplay immediately like this" - totally disagree. Then, because of the angle, you saw the ball going between the posts and that's about it. Now, you can see the ball follow the arc you had in your mind, and in that video, it really whips into the corner. You wouldn't be able to see that.

Us PES fans are a deeply divided bunch, aren't we...
this is what i like about player camera, seeing my ball follow the arc of my manual shoots, it's great.

Plus point - At last a lobbed goal from the CPU when the keeper runs out :)

Negative points - Still not seeing any wayward shots from the CPU, either on target or just wide :(
Game looked 100mph :(
No fouls by CPU after 90 mins :(

Which all have been a main concern since PES 2014

Why are we even discussing other stuff if we can't get this point across to Konami?

Reviewers are ignoring these issues as well, A football game with no fouls or shots off target!

This is not right.

Im not so sure this is correct. Any actual evidence? Or pure speculation?

Many tweets from official to Asim/Adam, interviews, and Microsoft don't deny it.
If it was possible it could be done aswell as it was on X360

They left it last year crippling the Xbox version.

Do you have evidence too that they didn't tried? I remember very well that the ONE doesn't have the same policy/security system.

That was a multiplayer match of some kind though wasn't it? I tried to work out what kind, but it was all a blur.

I've seen some rubbish when more than one human player is involved in a computer football match, but that match there might be the actual worst, which is saying something.

What a tragedy for our beloved series that multiplayer is now seen as the norm that has to be catered for, and is focused on almost exclusively throughout the summer. Do Konami genuinely think that multiplayer showcases PES the best?

It's a disgrace that the first real in-depth impressions we get of single-player, year after year, is from people who get the game early in release week.

I'm really trying to stay positive. Just have to hope someone will play a longer match vs the AI, on superstar. If not, it's going to be a long wait until September.

I remember the last year's KONAMI -Sony partnership.

I wish they gave out closed alpha and beta codes much earlier to real fans (specific people from the PES communities who are supported by their communities) for input.
That would potentially solve a very large number of issues.

But as they stated in the exchange about defensive positioning, it's all about the masses for them. The voices of dedicated players get lost in that.

In my opinion,

500 x 0.01 < 1 x 10

Our 10 pence

First: players must have significantly lower statistics (in particular the quality of dribbling/ passes/ shots, the physical abilities of players) so that we see more real football in the virtual fields of KONAMI.

Second: IQ AI-players must be higher (positioning); when defending players must be ready to pass-open

Third: KONAMI must give the player basic knowledge of playing football. Otherwise, there will be either full improvisation, or vertical football.

Fourth: COM must understand whether are losing or winning; depending on the strength of the opponent COM must play either the first number (from the attack) or the second number (from the defense).

Fifth: the first touch should be a problem if the player gives a very strong / uncomfortable pass; one-touch shots should have some difficulties.

Sixth: your tactical changes must be hidden from the opponent's eyes!

Seventh: we must be able to immediately switch from the first partner (without the ball) to the second partner (without the ball) in the attack after being given the command to open to the first partner.

Eighth: super-cancel should be separated from the key of the run (R1 by default) so that we have the opportunity to take the ball by hand using super-cancel without speeding up.

Ninth: сontinuous pressing and acceleration must be punished.

Tenth: players and the ball should have more inertia.

Do you agree with this list? What important things did we forget to mention?

I can safely say that using basic shooting in PES since Advanced Shooting was introduced is denying yourself shot variety. In PES2017 Advanced Shooting was superb and I scored all kinds of goals. These videos merely highlight again that I play the game differently regards camera and some control options and thus is nowhere near how the PES2018 will look or play when I boot it up.

It's not perfect but I honestly think it is the best shooting mechanic that can be found in either game.
Completely agree with everything you've said here, I didn't swap to advanced shooting until midway through PES 2017 and now I can't go back to either manual or to basic, you just feel so limited on what you do with your shooting.

With advanced you see such variety in goals, you don't always shoot across the keeper, you can put it in the bottom corners from further out and my favourite is always the near post drive when the ball comes across the forward.

The real partnership btw was with EA/Microsoft, it's Kojima's production who is actually in partnership with Sony. No proof of a Sony/Konami real "exclusive parternship", there's no special legends like in Fifa or whatever else.

Think about it: what Konami got to win for remove the "importing image" option? Nothing, it deserves them. They're not in position to negociate the One policy.

The fact is only that microsoft doesn't allow importing image on ONE via usb, and they're not gonna change it for an unsignificant game like PES, in terms of sales.
You can blame Konami if that's suits you better, yelling at conspiracy, but the truth is much more simple than that.

Btw this year PC version will be the most enhanced... On Windows 10 (microsoft) with Nvidia.

You got some valid points in this post that i can't deny.

As about Windows version... well the online portion of the game was horrible all these years and i doubt it will drastically improve with 2018. That's why i preffer the console version of the game, online is much better and that's why these limitations on Xbox kinda hurts my feelings and makes me angry.

I pay the same price as the PS4 version, they should somehow fix shit and give me the same options or.. drop the price on Xbox otherwise i kinda feel cheated.

Have they at least changed it so every shot doesn't hit the bar or post?

From what i remember when it was first introduced, it was nearly impossible to shoot wide or over with advanced

I still believe they would do what they want to do, even with feedback from closed beta. It's the dev team that decides, some choices are given to players but it's mostly them wanting to develop the game one way or another, as it should be.

I say stop thinking they don't know how to have a more simulative game, like they need our feedback. They know what they have to change to make a more realistic game, if they don't make these changes it's because they don't want to do it. Better accept this.

Yeah, I put the ball over the bar all the time and plenty of my shots go past the posts, it can be super infuriating as well when you have a glancing header that just goes past the far post too.

When I first started using it I felt like I was hitting the crossbar with every single shot but the more you get used to it you really do have a lot more control over where the ball is going with every single shot, you can pretty much see the reason why you've not scored in most circumstances. I missed a sort of open goal with Hazard earlier after rounding the keeper and it genuinely was entirely my fault. I won't be able to go back to basic after playing on advanced now, you almost score different goals every game, this goal with Costa was the first time I've scored a goal like this and I must have almost 1000 hours on PES 17 so far...

I trust Dave - we both had very similar opinions of "the other game", especially their decision to make no real changes to the career mode for the last two years and how, since Rutter left, it's a bit of a shambles.

So to read that he thinks shooting is "still predictable" with little variation is a massive concern to me, given that it was such a factor in me giving up 2017.

I really hope it's not too late to improve the shooting model - as I said earlier, it seems utterly basic in the videos compared to everything else (and Dave suggests it feels that way when playing it).

Surely the entire point of football is to score goals - it'd be nice if they weren't all the same (for the second year running)...

(Not just bashing the game - I just know how difficult it is to enjoy a game when the same faults from the previous year are still there...)

Playtesters should be the largest fan community (a closed remote playtest with the imposition of an embargo on the disclosure of information). Namely, their leading members. KONAMI will only need to analyze these reports and lead to one report. Together with the release of the game to provide a changelog based on the comments of the playtesters. In our opinion, this is a more professional approach. KONAMI would do it if they wanted to. Unfortunately, this does not happen.
