PES 2018 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

Sorry but i can tell from vids that shooting havent changed much.

All i see are bangers, drawn to the target on rail. No curled shots. No effect of shooting accuracy. No effect of body position. No effect of surrounding players. All rocket shots with anyone. I see the same shots. And even if it goes wide/over it goes with that same 1 meter just like in PES 2017.

Sorry but this is terrible in a football game. Even more terrible when you know heading is quiet varied.

Or have an option to turn on "sim" mode which is disabled by default. The "sim" mode will basically change the gameplay like it was on E3 whereas they can do whatever they want with the "arcade" mode.
but with that being said as technology advances so will the realistic play, better on and off ball movement, more statistics. It's the future there's no escaping it. Just takes a long time.

I am watching Cameroon against Australia right now and when I compare the overall free space players have, the space between the lines and the frequency of players sprinting in that video, it doesn't look like it is the same sport.

All teams are retreating to their box and defending from the six yard box, Looks like a handball game.

Agreed

Goalies are glued to their lines as well, What about fouls?

This is the 4th year in a row that we go through this again and no fix in sight, depressing really.

I can safely say that using basic shooting in PES since Advanced Shooting was introduced is denying yourself shot variety. In PES2017 Advanced Shooting was superb and I scored all kinds of goals. These videos merely highlight again that I play the game differently regards camera and some control options and thus is nowhere near how the PES2018 will look or play when I boot it up.

I actually think Advanced Shooting demands more of me than Manual Shooting does, though that of course could just be me; everybody wired differently and how they play.

I actually don't think the shooting looks that concerning in slightest in that WENB ES video, based on me watching back the highlight real at the end of the match. Basic Shooting, when I use it, results in a lack of placement and power flexibility, and there is no doubt shot error rate takes a dip. I personally think it is also to do with the technique and variety not being there, as that too feels like it is being assisted in some way too. What I am seeing is what I expect to see from Basic Shooting these days; the best possible connection and power, with only slight error; players (on the screen) rarely truly displaying individuality or adjustment; just shoot then a well powered shot towards the vicinity of the goal. I don't experience that with Advanced Shooting at all in PES2017. It's not perfect but I honestly think it is the best shooting mechanic that can be found in either game.

I am convinced that the Advanced tactics are causing some of these positioning and space issues. If you notice at the bottom there seem to some activated on both teams not sure which ones.

Fifa has it, NBA2K has it, not sure what other game has it, why can't PES? I'm not a programmer, but I see other games having the option no problem. Which makes me think that PES code must be one hell of a complex mess? Either that or they simply just don't want to give us their tools, thinking they might be giving away too much? Maybe their Japanese culture is playing a big role?
yeah, no Japanese sports title has sliders probably because they feel they can do good enough without them. Pro Yakyuu Spirits 2015 baseball didn't have sliders and was the best sports game iv'e played. They were just great developers.

I am absolutelty loving how players are make small body and positioning readjusmente to take first touchs. Wonderful!

Also, it looks awesome how players semalessly react to goals and celebrate.

Shooting still worries me but there are some very good new stuff.

The only two issues one of which will be fixed is the shooting and the off-the-ball movement. Shooting is said to be fixed but off-the-ball needs more attention. I have never seen a footie match where there is so much spacing between players especially the defense and midfield and I see it almost in all of the videos. Also the fact that there is not much closing-down, pushing/shoving and pressuring the player either. They are too passive which is why less fouls. It's a bit concerning knowing how good everything else is.

We cant deny the fact some of the changes that are easily notable on these new videos do give me impression that Adam and co are really starting to take ours feedback.

Its undeniable at this stage that they heading to a more sim game in SOME aspects. The pace of the game, the size of the field, all these stuff contribute to a more slower, tatical game.

But one thing in particular that is really making me slowly build my hype is that it seems they are really targetting to simulate Pes 2014 ball physics wich was something that we all , and the best thing of it is that this new ball physics is not just visual stuff, it really affects first time passes for ex. That
Is awesome to me.

You are right in a way but do you think devs will be more or less careful read lazy if they put sliders in place?

Like I said no way not for me.

I remember when I use to play on PC people released all sorts of patches and stuff that I got into one after the other and in the end wound up with a broken mess that I had no joy in trying to fix.

OCD is a real thing people.

Hell I still don't have a full option file on PES 2017 because of it.
yeah, just like FIFA developers did give sliders and expect community to sort it out.:NONO: If developers got paid after we played it then bet you they would make a great balanced game.
That's their job! Not community.

Thank you. This is so much true... I use Advanced Shooting, too, and it's very, very nice.

More gameplays, folks:

Lots of bits and pieces I adored. The touches, the way Gabi takes several steps back to allow the ball to come to him at 6:06 (minor, but really impressed me), how quickly Griezmann reacted to that loose ball at 7:32. That would never happen in 2017. With that said, I don't think I saw a single foul that wasn't a slide tackle. I might be mistaken.

they didn't expect the community to sort it out at all..base game is for the masses online whilst they give the single player options to fine tune...anyway back on PES 18 some nice touches but looks kind of arcadey..very attack orientated looking at the vids but need to play it now

Yup, I'm watching different teams playing the same type of football. Back and forth, like a tennis match. It is what it is. Hoping to see some longer length matches against the AI, but that's probably not likely.

still got the same terrible stumble animation during tackles..and a hint of slow motion keeping..could be the camera used
L1 timing when you get in tight with defender avoids getting knocked off the ball and terrible stumble animation. I don't get stumble animation anymore when i play.

Said FU to your Xone politicy, pretty sure Konami tried to make a deal with microsoft/which was not accepted

There isn't any videos showing settings on gameplan before the match and players attributes? At least to see if there's something new...

I don't understand those guys: i've NEVER started a match, in my whole Iss Pro/PES life without going to team setting.
At least intentionally

New videos here
I like some of the AI offense in this video, for example what happens at around 3:45.

Now that it can build up more gradually, it will be interesting to see what happens when we edit in more sensible formations and tactics into teams. Like a more defensive "out of possession" formation.
