PES 2018 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

what i like are the graphics
what i don't like is that the players either feel more loose fluid, certainly better animations there, but the frantic pace is still there making it end to end, this is something that is not acceptable.
from what i see, it is too similar to pes 2017, as there doesn't seem any change in the way the game flows btw defense and attack, its just end to end, after i saw the match athletico madrid vs barcelona at e3
i think this year im gonna go with fifa 18 or probably stay with 2017 from time to time..this adam bahti is just a marketing gimmick no more no less.

great then show it on a video ..cant help people who have put up with the same issues all year then see the same issues in the E3 videos ..mainly lack of fouls and end to end play ..end of the day we will only see properly on demo and release
either they can't adjust, or they aren't given enough time to, or they are just noobs.

I'm 100% with @Matt10 in regards to the positioning issues and I'm sure I would enjoy the game a hell of a lot more if they fixed them.

But at the end of the day I guess we just have to accept that we, the ones who want a more sim-like and tactically accurate game, are not the majority and we won't spend money in myClub, which means that Konami will continue to more or less cater to the rest of the player base by dismissing valid points of criticism.

Not to mention that Asim, for example, is one of the more casual players judging from the way he plays, so he wouldn't even notice aspects which are really important to us, and he probably wouldn't feed what Matt tweeted to him back to the dev team...

Only if Matt could somehow get into the PES team. PES team desperately needs someone in the team who knows how football works. Asim "pretends" to know how football works.

I am starting to believe that the PES team haven't fully watched a proper football match IRL. I think they only watches highlights of a match.

I agree somewhat and I wonder if they have any input from people within the game. For example I know many years ago sports interactive hired Ray Houghton to consult on player positioning in the match engine and now have a partnership with Watford.

It definitely seems like the only input is from sky sports era armchair fans, especially when you look at the response to some of the feedback.

Thanks for the kind words. I think I've missed the boat there. My constructive criticism probably looks more like a nagging, and we probably wouldn't get along. I'd be sacked before the plane landed, lol. I know what "we" want, but because I'm such a stickler for tactics/formations/positioning/football-sense is what also may appear as me alienating from both types of the fanbase. Couldn't be further from the truth imho because I've worked on FIFA sliders for 3+ years, in a huge collaborative community, which is geared for all types of players. The goal is so they can just enjoy a challenge from their Career Modes. That is the exact goal for PES as well, so we can all enjoy our Master Leagues, once again.

I didn't know that. I wish that would be something more companies do with their approach. This is why I always argue with the notion of having to play the game to get fundamentals right. The fundamentals are off the ball, you don't need to play the game with the controller to see if something is off the mark. I think a partnership like that would bring more credibility to creating realism and branding of gameplay masterclasses...by actually having someone who is a masterclass coach/analyst.

My two cents here since I have to get back to work.

Watching the trailer I jumped on the hype train but when I watched the gameplay videos I jumped off.

On trailer the animations indeed look brand new but on gameplay videos it looks pretty much PES 2017 much smoother only. To many laces shoots and awkward turning with the ball sticked to players foot.

Edit: and too much and to end attacking!

The pace of the game is spot on, imo. Keep it up Konami! Lets wait for the demo.

why i'm buying, i was impressed with Atlético Madrid partnership and more partnerships (PSG) :PRAY:to come later this year. I think the player models look fantastic or amazing or incredible (yeah you get it). The automatic shielding if used by AI will be a big improvement to game-play. Improved animations (not on FIFA level) and keeper slow motion matrix diving is gone. Worth it to me. Plus i'm tired of PES 2017.

2017's gameplay is far from perfect but if I could choose a priority for 2018, it would be working on the AI (including positioning) and the Master League (it's all well and good having a great game of football, but you need something to do with it).

I genuinely think the game looks great, and I've got no doubt it'll be better than PES 2017, but if the AI still plays with ultra pass assist (no errant passes resulting in a loose ball) on Top Player or Superstar, I don't see how anything else will matter, because it'll still be a really frustrating and imbalanced experience.

(Unless, of course, you play offline with friends, or you're a MyClubber.)

Exactly, the gameplay is main problem and by gameplay I mean everything including AI.
Second, game as comercial product should give you a hunger and keep you on your seet for hours and with such a bad atmoshpere and commentator reactions I would rather watch through the window because I cannot give my attention more then an hour even if I want to.

Now, Konami is a company with hardworking guys who in my opinion don't know that much about football(they need 20years to build proper gameplay and they are still nowhere near it)which I respect, and there is other guys which I don't respect and which don't know about football or gaming even more than the first ones. They are Bhati, Asim and co. Brothers, they represent a game in which Terry becomes young again after few years in unique and my favourite mode ML and he is talking about Griezman face whole time. That is just example on what is going on there and just add a bunch of other guys with happy faces for new version just because they can be there to play it earlier than others.

And when we have situation like that where not awared guys build a game based on noobs opinions the football animation game called PES is born. Every damn year nowhere near what we are hoping and writing for.
Cheers.

p.s. I could cry when I see that trailer and promotion matches are played on "easy"

p.p.s. I can give an oath that Adam never played full match till the end.

I know I'm biased, but B-man, Nestor and Jose are the Footy-United guys. I know if these guys had feedback, and the feedback is listened to - and actually implemented - we'll be far better off. They are die-hard PES guys, part of the crop that I know a lot of us here on Evo are from.

They are I believe great guys, but I have no sympathy to the team which repeats same errors for years. And I mean on the team which can participate in full game, not just in the demos like the guys you've mentioned.
Whole PES team should be mocked even if they release proper game, just in case.
Like they're mocking on us, when they thought"**ck them, they forgive us for lack od licensing and terrible online gaming and support, let's just give them goalkeepers this year and they will forget everything else like always" which was the case with pes17. They are to lazy and unprofessional.

I would love to know, in what world, would this be remotely logical/possible. Look at the radar. Tactics or not, counter attack or not, this is something my 4 year old son's soccer team would never look like, let alone professional footy players. This is the look of the issue:

I'm seeing Adam saying in every interview that that he doesnt need to say anything about the game, no need to convince us to buy it by words, the game "sells for itself", we just have to look at it and se how beautiful it plays and blah blah blah.

Seriously, I cant deny theres some good improvements here and there, but so far Im not seeing anything to get really hyped for.

Antother thing to note is that, according to Adam, preordering the game now can be justified by just watching its beautiful gameplay, but apparently you can make any contrusctive criticism by doing the same (based on what you see on those videos)

Sure, here you go:

Thank you. Here is what's going to happen.

If everyone here is serious about making a difference and showing them we're a serious part of the community that wants the best for PES, everyone here will have to support me support matt10. By supporting him we're also supporting our cause for a more simlike approach.

I will create a new thread with a poll and all you guys been whinging about this make sure you VOTE. I want as many votes as possible to show them this is what the community wants and it cannot be ignored, to prove a point.

This is our chance to have a say. If we don't act and only whinge here, nothing will be done about it. Tweeting individually won't help either.

So please, help me help you do something about it. I will create the thread very soon and leave a link here and everywhere. Make sure everybody knows about this because the bigger the number the better obviously.

Vote here to make a difference.

PS. For you guys who love the arcade game, don't worry this won't kill it for you. This is only bringing back an option that was there before so we can use it again if we want to. It is not enforced. So please vote with us to have that option back as well. More options are nice ;)

If this ended up ignored, which I hope won't be, at least I know I've tried my best and done something about it.

No offence , but ofc the votes will show more support for Matt10s claims, there are more fifa fans/players afterall.

Matt10 made claims to improve Pes 2017 that were simply not an issue for me and could be rectified by improving as a player.

In short, Konami's japense developers are the ones who know what they are doing. It's great that Matt10 offers his insights (that will be based on his playstyle and understanding of futebol), but trying to say they are universal to eveyone's gameplay experience is clearly incorrect.
