Konami lost me this year. I can't relate this game to any football I see in real life at all. Before, I've seen the faults but seen enough qualities in the game to keep coming back.
For me, the deal breaker is the acres of space. It's not a problem finding space on the field to pass-pass-pass. And that's THE ONE THING that all football is about, in a Sunday league game or a match at the world cup. A football pitch is a crowded place with 22 players on it trying to find enough space to make passes and runs. But this is no problem in PES. You never have to look up and think: who the heck am I going to pass to? You just robotically keep passing until the final third where it does get a little more interesting.
I do like the mechanics in the final third of the pitch. But everything up until that point is boring. It has the rhythm of a game of basketball, not football.
