PES 2018 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

Fair comments, but the difference in turning off the ball and controlling touches are pretty vast in my opinion.
too fast if you asked me.
running towards a through ball and picking it up without breaking a stride.
if only controlling a real football were so easy. no wonder Bolt can just blend in.
how can it be a masterpiece if all these realistic things absolutely don't matter?

Hopefully that doesn't screw up anyone browsing the page - good to see some actual pitch colours this time.
the graphics have clearly got an update, but other then that, nothing really noticeable pops off the screen when the gameplay starts.
hopefully it feels different when playing personally

Slight delay on the live stream. Sorting out a few technical details. We'll be live at around 12:45pm (LA time).

Oh man, sorry, I get the feeling people will take issue with me being so cynical here - but that passing is still lock-on stuff. The few instances where the ball appears to have more freedom (i.e. isn't going perfectly straight towards the player) are passes to the winger, and that happens in 2017 (and they're likely to be through-passes). In the heart of the midfield, it's all perfect stuff that takes little aiming accuracy.

I didn't expect anything else - at the end of the day, PES would be a different game if it started going down that route. They have a distinct style, which includes perfect passing. The game has to condense 90 minutes into a (by default) 14 minute highlight package, and with errant passes, you're not going to get that. You could even argue that it means you get to see more of a team's style, as opposed to all the teams hitting errant passes and not being able to hold possession for long enough to show you anything.

PES has its own style, and that's a good thing - and the game will still have manual controls - but I've got to admit, I'm disappointed (primarily because while I play on manual, the AI will still play perfectly, and there's no way around that).

I think it looks great otherwise - in terms of the flow and the dribbling.

I wait with bated breath for Matt10's positional analysis!

Well I watched the video on my phone, couldn't really listen to Adam but I doubt that I missed much.
Y'all who are saying this looks the same as 2017 are either doing hard drugs or played it last half a year ago and don't really remember what it plays like. Since drugs are bad and no one likes that stupid shit I'm guessing that the latter is the case.
Now whether those changes are for good or bad is harder to tell until some actual playing is done.

I mean what's the point of passing stat anymore? Why not just remove it?

Passing is already fine on 2017 (apart from crosses). The trick is to turn off pass assist and never touch that dumb garbage again.
But what about them stats, I hear you ask. Well, they obviously still matter. You can tell by just playing as a shit team and behold, passing the ball is suddenly way harder.

I reckon it's used in a binary fashion, to decide whether or not the pass will go to the target or whether it will go to the AI player, with no in-between. (On anything other than manual, obviously.)

Again, my biggest bugbear is that if I play on manual, the AI doesn't. As @Deco has said before, more eloquently than I could - all manual is doing, really, is giving yourself a handicap to make the game more challenging. The alternative is staying on PA1 and playing the AI on Superstar, watching both sides ping a ball around at 100mph for 90 minutes with no midfield and no time to think.

Brian sounded happy and enthusiastic. . ..either that or his bank balance got a big windfall.
He's a genuine guy - I'll be really interested to know what he thinks after he's played it for a while.

The sound was off for most of his interview Chris. . ..what I caught at the end sounded positive . .I was only joking about the bribe btw.

They didn't mention shooting in their reveal/website for PES 2017, and they haven't here either. It was one of the most disappointing aspects of PES 2017 (and PES titles of recent), so I hope it's been drastically improved.

Pre-season tournaments for Master League are great, plus cut scenes before big games are great. Hopefully there are a few more master league changes, interested to hear what the new transfer system is like.

Ahhh that was horrible ,cringe and useless stream . We all was waiting for gameplay , full match but.. not . They just re-read all stuff that we already know .
