PES 2017 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

Awesome! Will those Barcelona legends (plus others such as Maradona or Ronaldo) be available to use them in offline modes (I'm thinking ML mostly)? Do you think it be possible for patch makers to unlock them on PC? (I don't know if this was achieved for PES 2016, sorry)

I've also read somewhere that youth ML players can be edited, and it's true (separate European,American and Asian youth player groups) However I haven't been able to locate the 'current' default players for ML team (Coutinho, Arcas, Castledine and the like) in order to edit them. Any clues?

Thx

It is true... you can edit the youth. The default team like Coutinho ect cannot be.

The youths are found under the others section in edit mode.

.. About those who say the AI is limp.. hmm, I have to be honest in saying im getting the complete opposite. I play full manual, on Superstar, default speed, and I recently started a League with Nice in the Ligue1.. (wanted a bit of Balotelli time). Got thumped 3-0 first game against??? I forgot who... now im not the greatest defence wise, but there was no doubt the AI was aggressive. They also scored this beauty: Ill upload the full game highlights a bit later, to show their variety in attack.
Next, in the same League comp, I played Man United in a mid week champions league game... holy crap they played like Man United. A lot of long balls down the wing, and overlapping runs by shaw and Valencia, and the mids were constantly trying to get it to Ibra. Now get this.. everytime Ibrahemovic got the ball, and had just an inch of space, he'd take a long ranger.. At one point I even tested this by purposely standing off him.. he went one way, and then long ranger.. like the hog he is. However he also assisted in one of the goals...

Next, I wanted to try out some International exhibition.. I like licenced kits, so I played as Holland v Albania (cannot believe they are licenced - great) and I got kicked 3-0 by playing impatient crap. However what I did get out of the game was just how varied the AI attack can be...yep, being Albania, they made many mistakes, but their goals were top notch and importantly varied/unexpected. What I also got out of the game was just how great pes2017 is terms of individuality... 2nd half I put on Robben, Sneider and Van Persie (as all 3 weren't in the starting lineup), and holy moly it was so different.. controlling Sneider with his low centre of gravity was amazing.. allowed me to get away from players, making room for some awesome passing. Robben was on another level, in term of dribbling... The 2nd half felt so different by simply changing 3 players.. not tactics (haven't even bothered with this yet)...

Finally, I played an International exhibition using Spain this time, again vs Albania. It ended 0-0, however controlling Spain changed everything. I created a shit load more chances, just couldn't convert.. my manual shooting needs some work as all shots where either directing at the keeper, or wide. I did hit the crossbar once with marata. Any mistake I made however, Albania did pounce, however their finishing was as a bad as mine - but again, they created quite a few chances, and again these were varied..

Ill upload both the Holland v Albania, and Spain v Albania match highlight a bit later tonight. But wow, this game, with its team individuality, player individuality, and AI attack variety - has exceeded my expectations big time. Its fantastic to be a Pes fan this year :)

For me, offline is very good but online is a mess.
In PES you need to be able to make sharp, instantaneous movements to get passed opposing players but because of the lag/button delay online, you have to change direction really early. For me this is causng really messy matches with lots of turnovers of possession. Not fun

Yep, timing is crucial. With the lag, the game just doesn't feel instinctive.

Pretty hopeful it's just a short term thing, 2016 was lag free for me since I bought it in May and I did have a good 60 minutes of a PES 2017 online match that had no problems at all.

Yeah have to agree with bluechamp tried playing with and without
what sort of tinkering, last year I had to give all DM's and some CM the destroyer card to make them more aggressive

Track back for each individual works really well this time, as well as setting there defensive formation to aggressive, I copied whatever Fernando Torres had cause, he hassles hard and slide tackles,

Sounds like someone likes the FIFA demo... shield activate  ;)

To be honest, I'd much prefer PES to have a shield mechanic triggered by user input. Players don't always shield instinctively, you ask for the ball into feet, feeling the defender and backing in to hold the ball up. It's a conscious decision to hold the ball up and bring others into play. I want that control on PES too.

When it's contextual it's too often at the wrong time and frustrating.

Like most, im hating the colour of daytime grass in this game, however I played a few games at the brazillian stadiums, eg. maracana, mineirao, and with these the turf isn't scuffed and actually looks quite nice.

Surely you can test it by going with, but using a couple of teams who are licensed and therefore don't have edited kits? I can't believe for a second that edited kits would affect the speed even when they're not in use.

I do feel a sheild button would be nice as finding the sweet spot to initiate a shield is quite hard to do whereas sheilding in football irl is quite easy to initiate.

Started playing some Prem last night (English League, I mean) with Liverpool, just ignoring the shite kits/wrong names for now. Gonna wait a bit to see which OF to get.

Had some great games, two red cards from the CPU (one straight red after 3 mins, other was two yellows in short succession)

Still a bit stuck in 0-0 land, one 1-0 win, and I think another in the Europa League (which I kind of wish I could opt out of, as Liverpool are not in it this year) and then a 1-2 loss against the bloody Man Red, my only loss so far. Ibra was intrestingly poor in the match, but I still felt good when they subbed him for Martial, only for that bugger to score the winner. Still a nice game, and my goal was a fine header from Origi after a cross from Firmino (miraculous when I actually manage decent crosses, those are a pain on Manual)

so anoying. Game keeps crashing. Im doing 5 files at a time. Might just bin off. Really annoying
I keep getting crashes. This game really doesn't like the option file I have installed - might find another.

Also, I keep scoring thunderbolts from a certain angle 90% of the time. I really need to go manual because this game on assisted is too arcadey like PES 2016.

The pitch textures look like they were done on MS Paint. I can't believe that this is a PS4 game (technologically speaking.)

Who care if gameplay is no 1. in the market :) Nice looking grass, lighting and presentation is not enough to be no 1.:)

I have read this forums on and off for years and you come out with the same pro-PES propaganda everytime. Stop making up taglines like "The King Is Back" and "Best gameplay on the market" when no one has even played FIFA 17 full release yet.

It's because of people like you that Adam Bhatti and Asim think the PES franchise doesn't need any work - they could bake one of their turds and stick a PES flag on it and you would still say it's the best thing ever.

Grow up man.

You always defend the FOX engine. We know it's a great engine. Doesn't mean it's perfect. To me I see it this way, grass colors/textures complements gameplay big time, because I will be staring at the tv the whole damn time and if it's not pleasing to the eyes, no matter how good the game is, sometimes you just wanna stop looking.

You are wrong, seriously. Since 2007 i criticize Pes and Bhatti ban me years ago. Pes was bad for years but Pes 2017 is totally different game than previous games since PS3 era. Konami created game with really good gameplay. They make game like in PS2 days. Superb gamepley but bad presentation. Its nothing new for me. In the past situation was exactly the same. Superb gameplay bad package/presentation. It's depend what you like more. I like more deep gameplay than presentation. I didn't say Pes is KING but hegemony of FIFA ENDS!! in particular in gameplay departments.

Yeah I have to play abit more to verify it, I'm just playing atm without the OF

Free side select is available in cup matches, it was confirmed by Konami. But only if two controllers are on and connected at the same time. One has to always be on P1, the other can go to CPU.

Hi Rocky, have you tried this? I just set up a World Cup hoping to play as every team against the CPU but it won't allow me too. :(

Maybe it's just on PS3, I will check that version.

If only the first touches/trapping wasn't with ZERO error and always magnetized perfectly to the player , regardless of the ball speed and how good the ball control of the player is... the game will be really without any major flaws. : )
i'm so with you on that one

i enjoy the game, but everytime i hear someone raving about that real touch system i feel they are playing a complete different game than me, every defender can control the most difficult balls perfectly, high or low

I really hope this isn't the case..

I have to say I do find the real touch is there but it's subtle compared to FIFA's first touch error and definitely needs a bit more tweaking.

Defenders and others with worse first touch stats (not sure what they're called on PES now) will take a heavy touch or take an extra 1 or 2 to get it fully under control. They never totally miscontrol which is why it's less noticeable.

That extra/heavy touch allow dispossession quicker in my experience to works fairly well.

What does need a huge amount of work is pass error. I play manual but all the error is from me. On FIFA 16 with sliders, the spin of the ball etc affects the weight/direction of first touch passes significantly and makes you think and take a touch. On PES there is nothing to discourage a first time pass from what i can tell.

Im only messing with you. Personally though, after playing FIFA I feel its a gimmick more than a good addition. Id prefer players to naturally go into that if they need to, as it stands, its over emphasised, but thats based on a few games on the FIFA demo.

all national team kits lads, just add them yourselves one at a time to the teams to avoid the game crashing
Thanks for the link. Time for a few World Cups :D
