PES 2017 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

Does playing with kits really make the game that sluggish?

I have played ml and friendlies so far. I was using a OF too...feels good to me. I dunno lol

So does adding options files actually ruin the gameplay or is it just placebo this year?

Don't want to install if it changes the game...

well i cracked and ordered it, ive started to enjoy the demo for what it is and also felt a bit underwhelmed with the FIFA demo..might change my mind on release day.
Regarding the grass, it looks ok on my 4K tv with some colour adjustments. Not as good as fifa but not as washed out as it was at first..looks green again..found a setting on my TV for Grass, Sky and Skin tone..upped the grass setting and voila!

Using the PESGaming option file from Cristiano. Decent from what ive seen of it. The only thing holding me back from a ML now is that group of European fakes.

Which tv is that, OLED?

If anyone here has a 4k Sammy then turn on Native for colours in PES. Makes the grass a lot greener.

been playing this for a while now, only concern i found was the speedy FB's still can manage to run from one side to the other, but very hard to run into middle cos defensive AI kicks in and get fouled, but on the positive i found not all teams you play against you can run easily from one end to the other, its what MATT10 said a while ago in the demo about the DM not being present with teams which alllows this to happen, on a good note, when you tinker with players playing styles in the editing section, it does work, jus need to re work formations for several sides which allows this to happen. Reason I didn't come across this earlier cos I was always controlling lesser sides.

what sort of tinkering, last year I had to give all DM's and some CM the destroyer card to make them more aggressive

I'm surprised there hasn't been more mention of the limited amount of camera angles and customisation avilable, especially online.
I had high hopes that I would be able to play online with the camera angle I want but it's actually even more restricted this year than last

If you're unsure about option files, you can play a game with option file kits. And then in kit edit screen, remove the kits and try again. I'm done with option files - thanks for emblems and names, but no image-edited kits for my PES 2017.

I feel a little bit spammy repeating this, but.

Absolutely can't get enough of this.

Little (and potentially non-)issues are starting to crop up - non-manual long-range shots feel nerfed as they seemingly never hit the target, and I'd say 80% of the goals I've conceded against the AI are headers (but this one I reckon could be down to my defence) - also, I know it's not gameplay-related, but having to import option files 20 teams at a time to avoid a crash is a typical Konami-style "you guys will find a workaround" thing.

But, this is 100% the best PES ever as far as I'm concerned - and it's nice to feel vindicated, almost, in finding the last decade of PES games to be deeply flawed and not as good as the old ones.

I've even played a few more games on myClub and found myself actually enjoying it (it won't last I'm sure, but I managed to get a few games against UK-based players who weren't just spamming the through-pass button last night).

I played against Real Madrid last night and the guy kept trying to spam throughballs but none of them were getting through my defence. I had set my defensive advanced instructions to swarm the box. Not sure if that was the reason but I was delighted that they weren't working for him

If only the first touches/trapping wasn't with ZERO error and always magnetized perfectly to the player , regardless of the ball speed and how good the ball control of the player is... the game will be really without any major flaws. : )

No worries.

It didn't work - got so far in then said no space for more images or something and failed - it seems it's implemented some teams but lots are still default team names and no kits etc.

Weird.

I found a solution. If the game crashes when you do the import the files will still be imported but without any "file-name". When you try to import again you will copy the pictures again so you will effectively have two files of the same. One with the team name and one without. That is why the memory gets full.

The solution is to delete the ones without a name after a crash to free up memory.

And just import 10-15 teams at a time seems to make the game not crash. But if it still does remember to delete the files imported without names...

Glens OF is fantastic by the way!!!

played 1 game online last night in online divisions and won 1-0

although the responsiveness was slightly lacking i didn't feel it was as bad as what some people are making out. definitely room for improvement.

I feel like the tactical options have the potential to limit explotation, people will still spam nonetheless but that one game seemed so much more satisfying than any other ive played online in years

also nic to come across another PA0 player within 10 seconds of searching for a game

Got this yesterday, loved the demo and the full version is excellent too, only thing isi did dominate possesion too easily.

Also focusing on National Teams like the good old days because I'd rather leave clubs until an OF fixes everything to my needs. PES is definitely back!

It would be great if we finally had some empirical proof, one way or the other, that kits did or didn't make the game more sluggish. Running widthways from one end of the pitch to the other during a match (where the other team doesn't tackle you so you literally run straight), for example, with the same player on the same form, right at the start of the match so they haven't lost stamina. Or that player turning 90 degrees to the left as many times as possible in 30 seconds. If there's a significant difference and the tester has actually done this objectively, then we'd know the truth. If the difference is negligible then it's a placebo.

I played MyClub last night too. I've had shocking luck with my agents, I got Sergio Ramos but then my second best player is Aleix Vidal from Barca, 3rd is Mikel Arteta. My other Barca player was Jordi Matip, one of their reserve keepers. FML.

Online, there was simply too much lag for manual passing. There were a couple of games where it actually felt fine for long stretches, but then would suddenly become sluggish and suffer button delay.

It really kills your manual passing if you don't know when the pass is going to be released, or where the recipient is going to be. You start misplacing basic stuff simply because you don't trust the game. Weirdly it seemed to make my defending especially erratic - even if I was just pressing rather than trying to jockey, my players would seem to move in slightly unnatural ways, as if they were kind of doing one thing on my screen but then getting pulled slightly back or to one side to match what they were doing on the other guy's screen. And the result seemed to be me constantly losing the ball or not quite tackling the dribbler. It's like a bad dream, and you end up having to try and scrape the fifth or sixth tackle / block.

Still, only lost once (and got destroyed), against a real PA3 spammer who was absolutely fine with the horrendous lag in that game. The sort of person who passes as if each pass gets your combo multiplier up in Tony Hawk, rather than because it makes any footballing sense. I had all the above problems, plus I'd forgotten to change my players switching to semi assist! Hellish.

For me, offline is very good but online is a mess.
In PES you need to be able to make sharp, instantaneous movements to get passed opposing players but because of the lag/button delay online, you have to change direction really early. For me this is causng really messy matches with lots of turnovers of possession. Not fun

I had my first online game yesterday and it was one of the best footy online matches I ever had.

I set the connection to 3 and manual passing and manual shooting.

Immediately found a guy from the UK (me in Germany) playing full manual too and the game was brilliant.
It ended 0-0 but it was so damn exciting!
Game ran fluid.

If anyone on PS4 is up for manual games hit me up!

As for OF from PESgaming the tutorial said to tick the bins without the underscore or first bin. I did this and no crash, but some teams will make it crash. Great OF can't wait for more boots and all the other fluff.

holding the ball or shielding it so you don't have to keep passing the ball around to keep possession, stopping the cpu from easily stepping in and taking it from you leading to cheap cpu goals.

can somebody show this or doesn't this important part of football exist in PES?

Thanks for this. I have a 55' 8500 and tried all kinds of settings to make the demo look nice. Also took photos of the previous settings for PES206 for if I go back.
Have you tried it? The 8500 is an awesome TV and similar to my 9500. I only switch on Native under Colour Space for PES and Auto for everything else (other games). Native is meant to be used with HDR though but don't mind using it for PES because of the washed out green.

FC Barcelona Legends Trailer

Awesome! Will those Barcelona legends (plus others such as Maradona or Ronaldo) be available to use them in offline modes (I'm thinking ML mostly)? Do you think it be possible for patch makers to unlock them on PC? (I don't know if this was achieved for PES 2016, sorry)

I've also read somewhere that youth ML players can be edited, and it's true (separate European,American and Asian youth player groups) However I haven't been able to locate the 'current' default players for ML team (Coutinho, Arcas, Castledine and the like) in order to edit them. Any clues?

Thx
