PES 2017 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

Player ratings still all over the place. Gervinho 86, De Rossi as good as Rakitic in terms of overall, 85. Hamsik was up there too with I think 86. Gonzalo Rodriguez from Fiorentina 85.

I just saw my first evidence of different attack/defence levels by the AI. I was A.Madrid vs France, Top Player. I was 1-0 at half time and I noticed that France had a/d level 2 whilst in possession and level 4 when I had it. Are they equalised they left it on 4 for the rest of the game. Finished 1-1.

They better leave my favourite team the myclub dominating FC CUNTURIPA

re: Vardy face I am 99,8% he was updated on PES 2016 and looked pretty damn good
Yupp,he looks good there.
Somehow Genua have a thing for the Brits (think the club was founded by Brits) they ended up having Vardy/Andy Carroll in my ML on 16,think they had a British MF aswell.
And yeah,Vardy looked good,or as good as a face like his can
Chit Chat get banged

It is the 8th iteration of PES that is using overall ratings and people still don't understand that overalls in PES are not absolute, but relative and connected with players' registered (primary) position?

Rakitić is registered as CMF and he is valued by the game with ovr 85 in the context of CMF position (i.e. for CMF valuation there is more emphasis on technical attributes than physical). De Rossi is registered as DMF, and his 85 ovr is primarily derived from more defensive, DMF-oriented traits and stats.

Try changing the role of Rakitić to DMF in a game plan and observe the change in his ovr. Set De Rossi to play as CMF. Are they still 85?

Direct ovr comparisons in PES make sense only when you compare players which have identical primary position. Feel free to compare CF with CF, AMF with AMF, etc. - everything else is pears vs. apples.

OVR ratings are not really a reflection of a players overall quality. I think people tend to think it's like FIFA's which it defo isn't.

I have a few sub 80 players that are absolute beasts on and offline.

I do understand how they work.

De Rossi is hardly an 85 overall DM, hasn't been for at least three/four years now. The way it reads currently is: De Rossi is as good a DM as Rakitic is a CM. When in fact De Rossi is an average DM and Rakitic an outstanding CM. PES overalls are all over the place whether we compare apples with pears or apples with apples. For the sake of comparing apples with apples: Manolas 87 and Miranda 87 on one hand - Barzagli 81, Bonucci 84 and Chiellini 84 on the other. All based on Pes Master data btw, which could be a bit off considering Salah is 81 there but was 85 in a video I saw.

Zee, but it should be that's the thing. :DD

Might have to start playing My Club, and aim for this trio:

Overalls are pretty meaningless though, I've never understood why people get so hung up on them. Instead look at his individual stats and point out the ones that seem too high or low. But just saying x is too high when you aren't even looking at the numbers that make up the overall is strange.

Exactly I think they were purely out there to enable the myclub buying system.

I don't agree that they should be indicative of the players quality simply because it would be too difficult to cram so many varying attributes into 1 number.

As I mentioned the individual stats dictate how successfully a player fits into your team based on your playing style. You could get an under 80 that serves you better than a 80+ dud. . . . Cough. . . . . Giroud....Cough

Thing is I agree with you both, I'd go as far as removing them, but with them there I get lazy and just look at them when buying players. But if DM1 has a better overall than DM2 it'll be reflected in the stats too, so it doesn't solve the problem of inaccurate player abilities.

As for the last part, I completely agree.

Question to editors. Why competition logos not save in bin files?
Well, I'm not an editor but I think I can give you an answer.

Competition logos are basically image files, so there's no point exporting them as .bin files, there's no real need for encryption.

Basically, in this PES it seems a .bin files contains informations about a player (stats, face information etc.) or a team (player registration, kits information etc.); so I think they decided it was not necessary to apply the same process to competition logos since you can easily load the main information (the .png picture) yourself.

Actually he's been the toughest to beat for me.
well, i play with Arsenal a lot and he's the only keeper iv'e seen with the slow side dive. Also Barsa thumped in 3 goals in 3 tries last game i played.
He should be better for being a top goalie.
maybe he's better when a CPU goalie then a human player goalie.

The more I play the more I feel like they made the game faster and passing has become even more assisted. On the bright side the shooting is fantastic, they fixed the ridiculous speed of the ball as well as you will notice less sliding. Passing tho is making the game too easy. Just like last year. Disappointed about that. I thought it was better on the demo. Can anyone who played the game tell me if they noticed it?

Surprisingly, the most reliable keeper for me so far has been Cassio of Corinthians. He's a goddamn BEAST! His reflex stat is insane.

Yup the passing feels samey, The game leads you into channels to where you can penetrate the defence otherwise you won't get through, It's the same on-rails sequences over and over.

If you look at the goals posted on you tube the high majority are either a shot into the far corner from the six yard box, A cross which is easily headed or a long range shot from the middle of the pitch. It's very difficult to notice how each human player likes to play due to being shackled by the limited game mechanics.

Also I haven't seen any proper one on ones where you can take on the goalie and dribble him or chip him, Very worrying indeed.

Honestly, PA 0. I used to get annoyed when people said that about the other game, but PA 0 in PES is fundamentally different to that particular interpretation.

Konami do need to bin PA 1-4 and start again. I genuinely don't know what the difference could possibly be between PA1 and PA4 right now - PA 1 is already as assisted and binary as it could be.
