PES 2016 News & Discussion Thread

Lovely walex.

I've finished my first ML season. Won the CL and FA Cup and got 6th place in the league. Not bad for a first season :P Played a charity match in between for Terry's retirement. Started the 2nd season on a great start winning both the community shield and UEFA Super Cup.

This is the first time I've finished a ML season since PES 2010.

Even though I said I'm done with it, I've went back recently trying it on manual passing and shooting with -1 speed on professional and been hooked since. I've just put to bed the fact fouls are almost non-existent and just playing this for what it is. It's still a good game of football.

2 things I hope they fix whether in a patch or for PES 2017:
- Sometimes when I'm going through on goal, my teammate AI would run and stop right in front of me when I shoot and blocks my shot :CURSE:
- Teammate AI would run through sticking out his hand for a through ball and when I do he suddenly stops and the ball goes to no one :CURSE:
- As the 2nd point, and when I pass it, for an odd reason the player I pass it to leaves it to another teammate who's much further away and just ruins the whole attack.

These are infuriating, especially the first.

These are my exact settings, I used to play on top player but tried to put it down on professional. I feel the AI are more human on this level, and the difficulty level is not as easy as I thought it would be.

I wouldn't have thought it could happen, but moved to PES6 again. Made some rather extreme global edits, slowing the game down (agility -20, top speed -30, passes speed -15), installed amazing World Cup History patch and having great fun recreating football history. Don't really need current season gaming for now at all :SMUG:

Im still using the same settings as Walex Superstar, Manual -1 speed in the International League and loving it. It's very unforgiving if you make an error and can be frustrating e.g playing against Germany and Spain, they both play keep ball for the entire match and then hit me with a sucker punch of a goal to steal the match.

This game has a lot of faults but it's still very enjoyable if you find the right settings to suit your style of play.

Yea same. Just when I think it's easy at times, I get hammered. Some games even I dominate and look easy, but can't score and end up drawing or losing.

Maybe I'm not that good, but I'm happy with this level.

Agree, with your original points Lami, Looks like i play similar to everyone else. -1 speed, manual passing and shooting, i was origianlly on professional but decided to up it to top player. I actually got a season and a half through master league before deciding to start again as my created Millwall teams young players were developing too quickly (another annoyance of mine, play young players and their OVR can rocket in one season) so I did a re-edit of those players to make it more realisitic and plonked them straight into the premier league. the low team spirit and low 60 OVR players meant i was getting tanked and didnt win in my first 9 games but i'm starting to build up team spirit and get results now so my first season will be an exciting relegation battle!

been playing WE9 lateley. Man that game is pretty deep. I still thinkPES2016 is a really good game.

I installed WE9LE (don't know the difference with WE9) but holy shit this game is awesome . It's better than pes 6 and 2013. I remember playing pes 5 daily back in the ps2 days, but not sure if WE9LE have the same gameplay or not.

Who cares about graphics when the gameplay is this good and fun. Definitely getting a patch and starting a new ML, thanks for bringing this up mate :SAL:

Yes the gameplay is very well editable by putting down the speed and playing on manual passing.
The disappointment of the game lies in online play.
Just look at the gamespeed online, that is far to quick, especially when you play a good player who plays combination-football.
( See this movie http://www.twitch.tv/pesholland/v/40065253 ).
Konami should either implement some online optional settings to put the gamespeed down for the user, or fix the netcode to lower speed.

Strange, Konami Europe don't speak about Babangida, I hope it's not again a Winning Eleven exclusivity like Japanese national team and John Kabira...

Did you play all of your ML on manual settings winning CL and FA cup?

True, I've been playing the world cup (i've edited almost everything in the game from kits, real names, countries, competition logos etc)

Best campaign I had was with Ghana. (I had 2 campaigns with them) First one I finished third in my group after drawing all 3 games. Very tough.

2nd one (my favorite) again with Ghana, took them to the quarter final. Topped my group against all odds. Best match I have ever played on this game vs the Netherlands which I won 1-0. I defended for my LIFE lol. Constant attacking by the Netherlands, professional fouls by me to weather the storm. 85th minute, I bring on a left back and he scores the winner!

Beat Switzerland 4-0 in the round of 16, then.....they give me SPAIN lol. I take a 40th minute lead and I'm feeling sexy. 2nd half, Spain stopped playing games and punished my defense. Ended up losing 3-1, fairytale was over but I was very happy with it overall.

That's the beauty of this game, you CAN play proper football with the right settings (Yes, the game has faults) I flirted with the idea of buying fifa 16 but I just don't feel that feeling of FOOTBALL like I do with PES. Just imaging PES had all the stadiums fifa has + licenses, many would be singing different tunes.

PS. I'd love to try manual shooting ONLY IF that means the AI also has manual shooting (Error) to balance things out :D

I meant WE9LE, where are you planning on getting a patch?

Yeh Walex, I've had a few amazing games even when I lose I can appreciate some of the football. It's nerve wracking holding on to a lead against a strong side. ..praying for the ref to blow the final whistle lol. You have to try manual shooting it takes a while to get used to it . .you will miss absolute dead cert goals a lot by misjudging the direction but it's very satisfying . .you really feel that you've earned a victory. The a.i might not use manual shots but they can miss a lot of chances sometimes.

Did you play all of your ML on manual settings winning CL and FA cup?

Yes :)

Shooting on manual is vital for me to get satisfaction when I score.

That adrenaline rush when I was 2-0 down to Everton in FA Cup semifinal to make a great comeback and win 5-2 :D

I think that was the only time I scored that many  All my games are between 0 and 2 goals.

Thats weird...

People here have been having negative feelings about this gam (me included), but now Im seeing positive posts, wich is funny because right now I got to say I am also enoying the game a lot lately. Lol

Like many here, I've playing on -1 speed and manual shooting/passing on superstar level. Im playing premier league as Man United (mostly because of the licenses stadium and the good atmosphere it brings to the game), and the matchs have been tight overall. Its been challenging to find spaces to shoot and even harder to get inside the box. I hardly can score more than 2 gals per match.

I dont know if its due to the latest patch or to different leagues (Im more inclined to believe that different leagues play a bit differently), bit something thats been pleasing me its the fact that english teams have a better defending attitude in the midfield. Unlike it used to happen on italian league, where the midfield/defend players just draw all the way back and just wait for me to get close to the box, the midfield players of englisb teams play in a way that makes me forced to pass back or cross the ball from one side to the other more often. That TRANSITION between midfield-attack has been more challenging.

I still win in terms of ball possession, I think CPU sometimes give away the ball for no reason, but at least they seem to be better organized and active on midfield defensively. On one of those game I had against a weaker english team, I was posetively surprised by the fact that, once I got the lead (1-0) at around 75 minutes, the CPU team changed the tatics and they started to put some pressure on my own half. That was something fresh and it made the game feel realistic.

But games seem to be better against top teams. Probably the most memorable game so far was against Liverpool. That was a tough game, I hardly created good chances to score, ball possession was tight. Again at around 75min I had an amazing break away after clearing the ball from a corner and I scored one of those rare goals that made me jump out of my seat. Then I just went all out defence and thankfully I maneged to beat them by 0-1 (away match):

I'll upload the video of the goal:

Obviously the game has some flaws and I will highlight one of those flaws on a video later, but I am enjoying this game lately. It still doesnt feel like a finished product because of some those obvious flaws, but its been fun, Im more positive now towards PES 2017 lol.

I only found one on youtube, but many team names and emblems are messed up

I think the ones still playing the game here never really gave up on it, except il grande silenzio who once sold the game but now loves it more than everyone else.

It is still a good game if you want to enjoy it for what it is.

Of course there will be ranting and complaints because the game do have many problems, but it's all because we want the best football gaming experience like we all had in older pes games.

Agree with all the above. AI awareness is shocking this year. They will make way for a 500mph shot but don't react to anything else.

I've been experimenting with manual passing and shooting and dropped down to professional and is a decent and rewarding trade off. However, can someone please explain to me what the fuck they have done to manual through ball?

It's utterly unusable.

I solved the Manual through ball dilemma..

I didn't realise that if you using manual passing, "Basic" thoroughballs also become manual. I just assumed Basic was always assisted and the Advanced, which I tried, would be Manual.

So went back to basic Thoroughballs and now I'm happy. Still don't know how advanced through balls are supposed to work..

Its the same with everyone right now, we know the game is flawed and is essential a bad game because of the flaws but people seem to getting enjoyment from it.

Even with the gamebreaking tron running, you just sit down and play and enjoy the game for what it is.

The biggest key is full manual, the game has nailed the feeling of passing and shooting, when you shoot it feel like you really smashing a ball.

What makes it playable is the game is natural, it does feel like football, very, very basic simple football but football.

Its like again we all know this isnt good enough and next year we need to make the point there needs to be more depth in this game.

I think it could be the flaws are so obvious, you dont even try to play it as a simulation, you just play!

I played a few games last night and was enjoying it for what it is - and then played West Ham (at home) in the league (this is in the Master League).

Their "team spirit" was 90, mine was 80. They destroyed me 3-0 on Superstar, and every pass I did was going straight to their man (they had plenty behind the half-way line, blocking every pass lane), but they were sprinting from nowhere to pick up each pass. I'd pick a relatively safe-looking pass, and as soon as I'd hit the button, an opposition midfielder would become psychic, run over and intercept the ball. There was, very simply, no way through.

I switched it down to Top Player, and got beat 1-0 after a goal they scored from a passing movement I couldn't get fucking close to, they passed it around in triangles around the edge of the area and then hit a shot which hit the very top corner. Meanwhile, I had three great opportunities, during which:

1) My player got studs-up-tackled from behind, no foul;
2) My player, who ALL GAME (when holding sprint) knocked the ball ahead about 5ft ahead of himself, decided to knock the ball ahead about 25ft (and straight to the goalkeeper);
3) I attempted to dribble around a player (with Coutinho, against a slow-arse defender), and suddenly the response-times that all the reviewers cream themselves over disappeared - I moved left with the analog stick, where (further away from the box) this would cause an instant move to the left, and he just walked straight into the defender instead.

Those kinds of things are what I call CPU cheating, and they're programming shortcuts as far as I'm concerned (where the AI goes "my team spirit is higher so I have to win"), which have existed since the PS1 days.

Number two on that list is the one that really fucks me off, because it's so blatant, and when it happens, I feel disappointed in myself for enjoying a game that then makes a fool of you by showing you how little control you actually have.

I didn't have time to play on Regular difficulty, but I will tonight, in the hope that I can carry on my season without destroying a controller...

This might sound petty, but it really amuses me how terrible the player models look in the Fifa games compared to PES, certainly PES 2016.

Everything about them is just wrong; the body builds, the faces, the extremely weird facial expressions (Those nightmare smiles), the lanky arms and theyir mouths always look weird and protruding etc.

They have this silly face scan feature yet they still look fake and seldom like their real counterparts. How the fuck is that even possible?

In PES the player models all look natural. At least the majority of them. And the faces are more often than not really lifelike.

The only thing Fifa gets right imo is shooting. The rest is just such a sluggish experience. It just feels so wrong...
This post should be in the FIFA thread really, it's four paragraphs (80%) of FIFA content (or bashing)...

But, I agree that the faces and models in PES are much better. I read an interview with Adam a while ago where he said the reason why that's the case is that EA use portable scanning facilities for FIFA players that aren't that great (and then require artists to cobble together), whereas Konami's equipment isn't portable, but provides a better end-result (and on top of that, I think their artists and their engine, graphically, is a lot better).
