PES 2015 Discussion Thread (PS4/XB1)

It just looks and plays like an improved FIfa. . .. no wonder Asim likes it, he has 2 versions of Fifa this year.

They've totally abandoned the progress they've made in Pes 2014 for what? To win over Fifa and Pes5/6 fans!

Never thought they would sell out.. .. but then again it is a business. Disillusioned with this effort.
 
I don't know, I have mixed feelings about the game now from what I see. Usually I am the one who leans to Konami side and I even found PES 2014 a good game, on PC, considering some adjustments are made and before latest patches. I liked the turn to a more simulation approach, which sadly got less and less apparent with patches.

Now from the Youtube video's I see lots of arcadish running, which even having in mind the abysmal kick and run style players, seems like a step back. Defences look wide open, there is no compactness, and AI defence, let it be on Regular, seems still bad. Gamersyde videos forutnately look much better as youtube is known for making the game seem faster than it is, and that keeps my interest in PES 2015. I don't agree with Klashman about tactical side, which for me is improved and more intuitive (after all, who needs 20 degrees of defensive line and pass lenght?), so I look forward to it.

Now those news about PC version somehow put me down, as I play only on PC, but I will check it in any case to see how possible is to simulate football with PES 2015. Because watching FIFA 2015 videos I feel it's still far from football. It's very gamish.

I hear what you say. There is something about PES2014 that I enjoy regardless of the bugs. Too soon to assume that it plays like Fifa. Which imo looks great but is really soulless. All well be reveled on the 17th September I suppose

Well that was my immediate impression after the first video, last year we were oohing and ahhing at some of the movement, dribbling etc on pes 14 clips. . . .I honestly haven't seen one thing that has excited me about the new game, I was hoping for an improved version of Pes 14 with all the stuff we were crying out for to be put in. It doesn't even look like Pes anymore.

I know I'm going to be critizised for my views. Yourself and myself and a few others kept the flag flying here all year for Pes 14 so my loyalties aren't in question.

The proof in the pudding is in the eating. I'm amazed at how it changed from the leaked video which looked promising. . . . to this. Unless that's what Konami meant when they said "we know what's been missing. .. . . .Fifa!"

Ok early morning rant over.
 
Hello, my first post here. The new PES looks stunning! I will have to change over from FIFA this year, getting bored of that stale old franchise now.

Anyway, does anyone know if PES 2015 will feature 2v2 online on PS4? Thanks :)

If it's the same mode like in PES 2014 (11vs11) then yes.

Nobody will make a slightly just slightly realistic football game, not even 2K.The resources(time/money) involved in creating a simulator game would only be justified by something like 15-20 million copies sold in one year. Also the market for hardcore simulator games is just a niche...
 
Looks like a huge improvement on last years effort. For me the more new player animations the better. I still feel the one passing movement has been in this game for too long. But it's looking very promising indeed.

Just looking at that 20min direct feed video, i reckon this game is really going to punish people that can't defend properly. pressure whores or blind chasers of the ball are going to be left reeling by the new dribbling system. That being said, I am wondering whether if the dribbling will be too overpowered. i'd like to see some lesser teams playing to make sure that their players aren't all just mini-messi and can skip around players with ease because that would be super lame! Does anyone know if there's stilla contain mechanic for defending because it doesn't look like it from the videos!

mostly positive here but still got a few concerns!

There is practically nothing you can derive from those videos. Konami said in the press release that the defending has been made to be more manual it seems

Case for Defence: Users have complete control over when to close down, tackle, or hold up play. Successful defending is based entirely on the decisions the user makes

I know for a fact, based on leagues played very few people defend properly. I base my game on solid defence, using midfielders to cover and defenders to mop up. I didn't see anyone else do this. Everyone spams R1 + x and reactive on defence rather than containing
 
that seems incredibly vague. hopefully there will be some write ups that have something about the defensive side of the game. It's all well and good making the attacking side fun but they need to match it with a solid defensive system
 
I really cant believe konami shit in my face yesterday. Seems like its business as usual for adam driving away fans like that. Why is it so easy to be a fifa fan and so hard to be a pesfan just sad
 
I belong to the camp that feels PES2014 is a good foundation and i will buy a PS4 for PES2015 (mainly).

Not many mentioned this but i find the possibility to control the defense, midfield or attack is a major addition to multiplayer games. Something i have been hoping for for years.

My only gripes at the moment are:

- The fluidity of general movement and turning. Animations seem to miss frames here and there which somehow makes the players bodies feel a lot less solid, like i am looking at stop-motion football.
- Stamina system is not affected by holding R1 all the time (or is it?). If they do nail this one, games would gain a natural balance between slow- and fast-paced moments. This would add an important layer of strategy and it would make players with good stamina like Strootman, Dirk Kuyt etc. more important.
- Saw some moments where AI awareness could of been better, mainly defenders and goalkeepers.

Goal-nets i am not concerned about, i expect there to be different nets for each stadium.
 
Game looks good so far. Very fluid and responsive. Hope Konami nail the shooting this year (ball physics and animations). It's been poor since the PS2 days. Especially last year.
 
Jon champion and jim beglin would be back to rip the soul out of my life this year. Sometimes when i look at how far behind pes is in terms of commentary its a complete and utter joke. Pes 2014 was the worst imho, that fucking depressing soul reaper jim beglin speaking in different tones with a pre-recorded statement. It is just mediocre at best, pes has the worst commentary in any game even the half-time report on nba2k is better than that jim beglin shit. I think jim beglin should be fired even better he should give up commentary, even fifa has two commentators. I really do love how martin tyler presents his games and all . I am done defending konami this is bullshit, do they even know this is 2014 and not 1999.
I have even heard better commentary from nhl on the ps2 days than this total horseshit they call commentary. They forget that it is not about gameplay it is about offering a product .
Adam just said on twitter that there will be no snow in pes 2015 because snow is not important lol. We have not had snow on pes since pes 6 and 1 generation later we still do not have snow on a "next gen" console. I am done making excuses for this company. What is the point in waiting for november if the simple things that provide variety and improves immersion are not in the game. I'm just so angry

Couldn't give a shit about commentary gets turned off in both games. Ends up getting repetitive and annoying not needed in the game.

gameplay looks fine, and its rythm aswell, looks fun from the vid. sure i cant tell it really but what i can that....


PROBABLY its on REGULAR again but


Goalkeepers are utter crap yet again, all i can see in every video is:

a, super GKs, they catch a good ball with the simplest animation
b, dont do jack
c, rebound goals

wow so much possibilities, its like This Is Football on PSX. and i fear on higher difficulty they will better for sure but AGAIN just catch everything more often. why cant they optimize GKs?? it seems like they dont have enough animations to keep properly. even here at 20:20

what the hell is that animation and why so late? its a wonder goal no doubt but what the GK does...who the hell would do that move in that situation?? just raise your right arm and spread your legs for a low shot. wtf

for sure Gabe its not the retail version and its on regular probably...
