PC PES 2014 discussion thread

IVe found playing the game with 1.04 original exe with disk in the pc (no no-cd or crack) the game feels way better. prob just a placebo but who cares I played about 20 games yesterday in master league and enjoyed them all. also for masterleague I upped stamina by 10 and condition by 3 for all players
 
Made a glorious revelation today. Since for me one of the biggest problems with PES 2014 was lousy defensive AI, I increased (using goldokiller's editor) Defensive Awareness stat for all players by 40% and now AI defends crazyly well. Just had 1 (!) shot on goal in 15 min match playing on professional. In fact AI defends and covers the space so well, that I would prefer increasing the above-mentioned stat by lower percentage, unfortunatelly for some reason goldokiller's editor does not allow me that.

If anything, make a backup of your EDIT file, an try it. So far I'm really happy. :COOL:
 
Is anyone else having these problems like me?

1. Every time I open the game, it comes up with my konami login ID and password, even though auto-login is enabled.
2. I cant find an opponent online at all, it always never finds one

Also, just played a Europa League game tonight, fired 3 shots powerfully right at the keeper and he just palmed them into his goal, pretty shocking really, the responsiveness of this game is still very very poor, you should be able to tap shoot quickly and the playe rkicks the ball, so frustrating when u press shoot and the player keeps running or just doesnt seem to want to shoot, the running is very odd as well, thoroughly disappointed with this year's "effort" so far, this patch hasnt fixed massive issues like the lobbing the keeper with ease, hoping the next patch they release gives the game the big overhaul it needs, right now I prefer the way pes 2013 plays, the dribbling on pes 2013 looks more natural to me, and dont get me started on the faces.
 
Given up on the game now. Really haven't got the time or the will to mess about with PES any longer.

Going to pick up FIFA 14 for PC. FIFA has its faults but at least it's a solid, professional product.

I have been playing FIFA 14 with placebo sliders the last few days. What is funny is that I have seen keepers give up horrible rebounds, clearances that get deflected right to my open forward, goals scored off pressuring high, and the cu de tau (sp) dribbling at d and they just back off. Same issues people bitch about PES.
The grass isn't greener, you will be back.

Thats the most unrealistic thing in Fifa...and its very painful for eyes.
 
I played 2 games of FIFA with my friend and.. we had 2 goals in 2 games that were due to the error of goalkeeper.

Jamezinho I don`t want to make up somebody`s mind. I respect you for some suggestions you gave me in the past but transition from pes to fifa is like new girlfriend who is hot but stupid. In the beggining you will like the animations, shooting etc. but after 4-5 days you will notice how the game is plain and unreal, everything is the same over and over again. I speak that from personal experience. I never played fifa before 14 came out becouse the demo was promising but ended in pes 2014 :) when you play it you will realize what Konami actually did, you will see true potential of pes 2014. again sorry I just want to give u suggestion as a friend ;)

Agree , I came from FIFA for PES5, tried FIFA again after pes2008.
Have tried FIFA for last 2 years and in my opinion its very polished but core game not better.
 
Back in June I invested on a PC with the sole intention of playing PES in its highest setting. Best decision I made this year.

Front Line Pressure and Defensive Line always have to be notched down to five or below before I start any game. I can see the counter attack having those values in the 15 and plus range but Possession game having a high setting in Front Line Pressure and a high Defensive line equal the CPU always spamming through ball.

Now when I play everything is in front of me Defensively and although I now have less possession percentage I rarely lose because I feel my tactics are actually meaning something.

Every once in a while I fire up the other game 13 to go into UT and make a little money but after one game the thrill is quickly gone. Even with all its fault PES14 is still a better game that I can still tolerate for two games in a row where with the other game its one and done each and every time.


The super patch is on its way I just have to stay patient.

Unfortunately there's no real kit, emblems and name for Liga ZON Sagres. But maybe the creator will change his mind if there's enough request.

This is as close as you can get to Defade's option file, especially if you're like me, I just want real kit, name and emblems without all the bloated extras.

EDIT: I didn't test it with online mode, so I dunno whether it work in online or not.

interesting. I only increased the Defensive Awareness of one GK by 40 points but haven't been able to experiment much with it. So your post does give me motivation to find out how stats will make a difference. Where can I find this goldokiller editor u speak of? its a pain to edit stats player by player with the in-game editor...
 
One thing has to be fixed definitely:

-Defenders catching upto strikers completely disregarding any stat values. (I think people here are calling the Usain Bolt effect?)

This happens both for the CPU and me. I literally caught up to a top-notch striker (can't remember) from multiple yards behind with Per Mertesacker. Yes. There was about 10 meters between us and I overtook him with one of the slowest defenders in the game.

Top notch striker but you can´t remember? :)
Hmmm, would have been helpful to compare the stats.
Not every top notch striker does have much speed and in my experience "explosive power" is very important to speed up quickly.

Plus, the situation is very important too (position of defender, already running, striker hast to turn first etc.) and it´s realistic that players with ball run slower.

What was the strikers´ form or emotion and what was the defender´s?

Also, what is very effective is double tapping the sprint button.

I don't remember any of that. It could have been Demba Ba, Aguero, Sturridge. I just mentioned that one specific example because it was Mertesacker who is known to be one of the slower CB's. Seeing him commit a full sprint and close such a large gap was awkward even if it was for my advantage.

On the other side, I have had very few positions where the defenders couldn't catch up to me again regardless of stats. It seems whenever my attacker gains ground on a defender, the defender will always catch up in a matter of seconds no matter how large the gap is. I've had many positions with Walcott, where I received the ball on a full sprint, had a great touch, and went ahead of all defenders by maybe 10 meters or more. But in that stretch between the last defenders and the goalie, it seems the defenders always catch up to me 90% of the time right as I enter the box.

I mean when a player is turning on the ball from a standing position, it feels like he is under water. And his legs do what i can only describe as a stutter as i turn. The players basically don't turn in a smooth motion unless you are sprinting. Added to the fact that there is still a huge button lag, and it means that the game is more frustrating than it is rewarding.

Basically the full game lags to the extent that it feels like it's under water. That's the best i can describe it. I understand that Konami want to make intertia noticeable, but it's ridiculous. I don't want Fifa like reactions were everyone is super agile, but there should be a balance, and Konami is nowhere near to finding it at the minute. Pes 13 was more responsive.

I did the same, playing fifa since 12/13/14 and modding ets using AI mods. I then finally got the demo for PC for pes2014 ... and .... I purchased it within a day of playing the demo. I haven't even loaded Fifa since. I said it some place else that Fifa is a pimped skoda. Lots of bells & whistles and fluff (and they are nice obviously and its strong point) but when you finally get to play an actual game of football ... they have just bolted on CG play parts and anims just dont cut it any more.

Whereas I now see where PES is more of a raw sandbox (so to speak) and everything is about playing the game on the field, using controller and weight in a more simulated approach.

I used to gravitate to Be A Pro on Fifa most of the time I just found play all annoyed me too much esp without Ai mods, and always wanted that for tournaments which 14 never came with. When I realised PES is completely open on any of this I was sold. Plus its the first time I play all now and enjoy it far far more. PES has its wobbly moments but in comparison "on the field" its no show stopper.

I see the comparison like this (In terms of controller usage and sim approach):

If these were rally games:

Fifa = Colin Mcrae
Pes = Richard Burns Rally

If these were skate games:

Fifa = Tony Hawks
Pes = Skate (1/2/3)

If PES for 2015 onwards overhauled the GUI and tried some more online modes with a few things that Fifa does well in career mode, if 14 is just the start on the field to be enhanced with new engine then Im in for the long haul now.

Hmm, yeah makes sense what you say.
Yesterday I had an MLO match and did a high through ball pass to Milner on the wing who was already running and probably reached his full speed. The pass went over a defender (can´t recall who it was) but he had do turn around and started running then after Milner.

Even Milner had some kind of a head start, I couldn´t say whether the defender would have reached him after some time.
It was too close to the end of the pitch and Milner already passed the ball before that could happen.
Not easy to say as Milner is not real slow but also not real fast.
But I think I remember that the gap started to get smaller.

I kind of have the feeling though that after a few meters the strikers can be reached but it might be relative i.e. how long the chase goes before the strikers takes a shot or passes the ball further.

Hard to judge.

For comparison sake, I played PES 2009 last night and Gary Neville most definitely could not keep up with the pacey Inter Milan wingers, which is quite fair really especially when they have 5 yards on him.

I think in 2014 they have made it (deliberately?) too balanced. You'd think speed would be the easiest thing to stand out if they wanted it to. I realise that they've had problems with sprinters in the past but 2014's design does not really fix the problem. It just makes a new one, albeit a slightly less problematic one.

To keep defenders slow and attackers fast but make it so that attackers don't always have the edge they would have to make some kind of fault in the dribble system (i.e. poor touches) that could impact the dribble making it random whether or not the attacker stays ahead. It's a lot more complex than making the defenders slower to compensate.

Have you not seen the videos? That catch-up bug is definitely there. There's a skip in animation when a defender gets to the back of another player propelling him forward at a quicker speed than his running speed.

Agreed on the second point though. See what I wrote above.

Yeah I think so too.
There were so many people complaining about all the speed merchant spam noobs, so KONAMI tried to balance that out.
But by doing that, there are other people complaining now.

I, myself don´t have much of a problem with the solution now, I actually think it´s solved quite well because it´s not impossible to be successful when you play that way (lofted through ball on striker or player on the wings) but it´s harder than it was in the previous versions.

Still, I have to be careful and defend well to prevent those kind of attacks.
Because in real life these attacks happen, specially on counters.

On the other hand I agree that according to the player stats there is improvement to be made in that case.
Because a Mertesacker with speed 68 and explosive power of 64 really shouldn´t be able to catch up a top notch striker who ran away from him and left a gap.
 
I think the catch up is more realistic then the other way. Otherwise in reality offensive Players are in generall faster then much more central defenders. If Konami would implement this ingame like real life, 90% of the offensive Players would be uncatchable after they let the Defender behind.
A offensive Player running with the ball has more influences. He need to control the ball while running, looking around (and concentrate) for teammates, the keeper and where and how he can shoot. He has to make more explosive sprints (fake Sprint) in comparision with a Defender and after some Sprints you maybe have enough condition to run on the pitch but not more to make longer sprints.

I know its frustating because in PES 2014 in 90% of the case the defenders catches you. They maybe can Balance this a Little bit.
 
It does need some more balance, but there is a fine line of having what it is now and then tipping into Fifa lob fest exploit ville if you then get poor pace defenders.
 
Phew, after messing around a whole day with the settings, I finally got it working by turning off V-Sync in Nvidia Control Panel. Now the game runs smoothly at 60 fps. However I've yet to find a fix for the rather annoying button delay/input lag. Does anybody have a fix for this? Also does anybody have any special game settings that they feel are better than the default one? Cause I kinda feel like it's too slow for my liking.
