ALLOW me to share my key to fixing framerate issues: DOWNLOAD REFRESHLOCK and FORCE your FPS, for your fav. resolution, to a higher refresh rate, such as 120 or thereabout. That, coupled w/ DoubleVsync and Triple Buffering off in RadeonPro WORKS WONDERS!!

The bugs show on every diffcaulty but on superstar they show they very, very worst.

Shame about the bugs but i epected this so i don't feel too downhearted.

I think more clarification on why the bugs are happening and why it wasn't put back and released later would be good. If a patch is in November?? why not at the very least wait till mid October? Or straight just wait till November to release it.

How much pressure was on them to release it on the 20th? The game was finished and shipped in early August. Thats going to be two and a half months or so development in this 1.02 patch, just like PES 2011 and 2012 the patches as expected will totally change everything about the game again.

I don't want to be too negative here, don't really see the point, I can't see this game being constantly plagued with bugs for the next how many years or so. It should only get better from here.

As a consumer you pay your money and expect a finished product. If I'm routinely getting an unfinished product I am less likely to buy it again.

Konami should be mindful of this. Their excuses, and the excuses people make for them, are increasingly becoming tiresome in my opinion.

Yeah exactly. I know it's not the same developer, but I'm still angry about the state that Rome 2 was released in. TW used to be a 'safe bet' - a game you could buy without any concerns every year but that isn't the case with Rome 2. It's shaken my confidence in the entire gaming industry.

Got home, just had an a rematch of germany spain that ended 2-2 on Top Player now.. i am impressed in how my team played after 0-2 for spain at 1st half. In 90+ Spain was bombing forward and i did a counter attack with Ozil long grounded pass to Klose marked loosely.
One on one with the GK... boom I failed

Once again for those complains with heading.. Press Heading Button not too long after a cross is made but control how long you press it.. a bit sensitive. I did 3/4 bar near post leads to one over the bar and one hit the bar. 1/4 near post, 1 blocked by GK 1 goal :APPLAUD: .

Thing is Klash, each year seems to bring fresh bugs and issues and we go through the whole process again.

Football games are generally seen as having a 12 month lifespan so to me it's important that problems are dealt with quickly.

Instead we all must endure two months of a sub-standard product while it's brought up to release standard.

Other issues.....Konami should've had a transfer update ready to go on day one. Where was that? When are we getting roster updates?

What about the Xbox 360 datapack? Still not fixed.

Where is the communication?

Gaming is too much a business these days. This is why I only play PES, i love football, PES plays like football, so I'm happy with that, western games are too much based on competitive online gaming these days.

People care not about flaws, they just want to win. Too much money and corruption and company directors who only care about about balance sheets calling the shots in general.

You would'v thought they would learned by now about the transfer update being put in as quickly as possible! Thats a crying shame. The datapack thing is broken also on the PC version.

I myself, I'm wondering whats going on at the moment, Next week it would be important for Konami, for someone to come out and clear all this up.

Seems as if they have clearly run out of time to finish the game off properly, I wonder if they had released it in November/December was it too short a yearly cycle to make enough profit? Did they think they could get it all done within a year? I think Konami like most companies are relying far too much on patches to fix things which should be in the release code. The internet being so readily available means companies think they can get away with releasing unfinished games.

Maybe I should learn Japanese and help them out in some way in terms of communication and clearing things up with them. The people who work on PES speak very little English and seem to be mistranslated a lot, and out of touch with their European fanbase. I could do with a job like that. I think I'm too blunt though, I'm unhappy about something I'd just say it.

again don't want to be too overly negative, I see things differently, i always look to see if a company puts an effort in, Konami have, this engine is awesome but they have taken on a little too much for them to handle in just a year and released it too early.

Looks like the honeymoon period is well and truly over.

Glad I haven't bought this, though saying that it would have had to be phenomenal to be keeping me away from GTA anyway so a football game was a bit pointless this time of year.

I haven't gotten a finished computer product since the mid 90's so I'm curious what makes you crusify Konami for what everyone else do as well?

We're all undoubtedly hypocrites now and then but this is bordering on the comical.

why there is only "player" type cameras... !? I can't play like that.... i need "ball " camera ...

If it's anything like BAL mode, you can change to the normal Wide game camera as stated by Ameppe. You can also hit Select (if using PS2/3 style pad) and this will switch tracking between your player, or where the ball is (like in a non-BAL game).

Too true. Did you know that CA now base TW's success on its bloody Metacritic score?? So instead of writing games for gamers, they're now writing them for reviewers.

After opening many files with Jenkey's File Explorer and seeing what's inside, I realise just how much effort has gone into this game, it's no wonder it looks a bit unfinished.
I never thought I'd say this , but [almost ;)] full credit to Konami - it's a totally different game inside and out.

If they are using the time between early September and the next update, by making faces, mainly, but also a few other graphic tweaks - then I'll be very happy.
They obviously didn't want to lose ground to FIFA, with all their licenses, and therefore released it 90% finished.

So, what can we do about this 'game not connecting' business at the start of a game?

It wouldn't be a big deal at all, but since people are getting win and losses recorded because of it, it's DAMN annoying.

I've only managed a win streak of 8 because of it. I've also only lost 3 games genuinely but have 8 recorded on my stats!

I'm aiming to be number 1 so it annoys me greatly.

Opening ports in the router, would that help at all?

What's more comical is your claim that you haven't bought a finished computer product since the mid-nineties.

Obviously the age of downloadable patches has lead to a huge increase in unfinished games at launch, but few are in the state PES2014 finds itself in. Simply delaying the launch by a month or two would have resulted in a better product.

I'd rather they do a proper patch than do the normal fast patch routine that contained so called gameplay improvements that we are not even sure if its placebo or not. Remember that for pes 2013, they had the biggest delay patch from 1.03 to 1.04, and that was the best patch they put out.

So if we gotta wait, we should wait.

Those who know me around the various forums I frequent will know that I very rarely complain about an 'unfinished' game and I've bought plenty of them since the mid nineties! From everything I'm hearing though, PES 2014 sounds like it falls into that category.

As others have said, this game really feels like an extended demo or tech preview.

For what it's worth, I am enjoying the gameplay despite the numerous flaws and omissions, but I can't shake the feeling that this game is rushed and unfinished.

The whole thing feels so hollow and empty which is a huge shame as the true potential of this game is abundantly clear.

Nail on head. Hollow and empty is an apt description. I had a whole little rant written out about how much I dislike BAL this year, but I'll shelf that for a different day. I will say that anything other than an exhibition match really tries my patience. I purchased FIFA 14 in hopes of a better experience in terms of game modes. Konami's efforts look like they were done by a couple of teenagers during their summer break, and that's an insult to the teenagers. I played a couple of hours and much to my surprise, offline play was actually quite enjoyable. I was stunned. I still feel that PES 2014 trumps FIFA 14 in many areas, but I like what I've seen so far except for the ridiculous commentary bugs. Regardless, it looks like I'll have two football games occupying my time. The more the merrier as they both satisfy different needs.

Someone else on this forum had it right when they said PES 2014 is brilliant as long as you don't try to get too deep into the game, and I agree. More often than not one-off matches are fantastic. Outside of that I'm finding very little enjoyment from the game. However, I don't agree with claims that PES is completely unplayable. Still a good football experience to be had.

People are hard on Konami, rightfully so. But i'm not sure why people are easy on EA @ FIFA when the game itself riddled with couple of bugs, exploit and questionable gameplay design. OP crossing, heading, through ball, and without fiddling with sliders you will see a lot less time on the ball, force you to get rid of the ball quickly. Hence why the main attacking method is still down the flanks (header) and lobbed through ball. That still not counting technical issue like random freezing and lagging CM menu (that has plagued the series for years).

Even big-time FIFA apologist like Nepenthez and Airjapes acknowledge these issues. But from what i noticed, it doesn't stop them from enjoying the game. Maybe it's simply addictive or whatever, make 'em able to look past the flaws.

Sorry about the slight :OT: The reason i post this here not on FIFA forum, i don't want to be perceived as trolling or rain on someone's parade.

its probably because there is a difference in little bugs here and there and whole features that are quite simply broken. I really enjoy PES this year for the first time in years on PC but some of the things like the soft parried goals or the manual control shots that always float over tells me why there was no demo and also demonstrates there was probably very little testing.

In all seriousness I work for one of the biggest manufacturers in the world and if a product with half as many faults got through our QA department somebody would of been in for the high jump and how they get away with charging full retail price is astonishing...all that said the parts that work are close to awesome

Hy.can someone tell me who to change der camara online? Its very deep and there is no zoom when the ball is in the high range...any idea?

PES Team has an apparently small size. It must be under 90-100 people, and it's known it's not enough in today's gaming to deliver a good experience in all aspects. This is not EA where there are thousands of people available to contribute in any product development.

Apart from that, this data brings me a comparison to another known game which suffered a "unfinished release" this gen: Gran Turismo 5 from Polyphony Digital.

Kaz Yamauchi and Co. always said that he prefers to develop all the game in-studio (car modeling, physics, tracks, sound, etc.) because he wants to control the whole process (this obviously excludes any possibility of relying on 3rd-party teams for anything). I always thought this is related to a culture thing, as Japanese people are very (maybe too) proud in some things, and they don't want anyone else involved in their work.

But this approach creates one problem: they become "Jack of all trades, master of none".

In this case, PES Team want to do all work themselves (even if it's not the right solution), but they clearly can't, so they have to prioritize some aspects over others. Even then they can't bring a finished product. Add the yearly update cycle football games have, and the outcome is the unbalanced feel PES 2014 has (enjoyable gameplay, terrible content).

I think there are 2 obvious options here to resolve this:

- Work with 3rd-party studios from other locations to manage some aspects (online environment, UI design, licenses, FX sound) while the main team focus on gameplay design. This involves the need for PES Team to open their minds a bit.

- Konami investing a lot of money on PES Team so they can sign more quality devs and stick to their japanese development paradigm. They have money in the bank, they're not a poor indie dev.

What do you think?

You might have a point there. I also heard from a Japanase gamer, Japanese developer not a big fan of PC market and digital distribution in general (in-house production). Many hint it's likely due to their pride, culture and philosophy.

Arsene Wenger did mention the same thing.

That was an awful comeback.

Obviously, and PES 2014 is playable but buggy so it falls under the same category as every other game released the last one and a half decade. The gaming industry is a result of the gamers habits to be fair. The console generations want quick, shallow games and preferably franchises which is what they get.

Both options are viable in my opinion.

Third party studios could help in some areas. Konami have traditionally struggled in the areas of online play, audio and UI design.

The Polyphony Digital comparison is a good one because of the many comparisons with the way PES Productions operates - insular, archaic, unlikely to outsource, poor project managers and out of touch with global gaming.

GT5 was a massively ambitious project that Polyphony Digital tried to complete in-house. The result was an comprehensively unfinished game that lacked focus and took far too long to come to market.

Forza, on the other hand, was a more focused and slick product. The developers outsourced modelling work to Korea (cheaper) and managed to deliver a new title every two years.

On that last point, there is no reason why Konami couldn't do the same. Outsource 3D modelling to Korea or China, that way plenty of player faces and stadia could be completed on time and on budget.
