Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

So it might be placebo, but after reading here that the UK demo is better, I downloaded it on my lunch. And surprisingly, it did actually feel slower and a better game. The CPU didn't seem to hound me as much and it just felt great.

Advanced through-balls were a bit awkward though! I'd just pressed the button, VERY briefly saw a yellow target and then the player booted it!

Sounds like advanced through ball. Power is determined by where you place the yellow target, not how long you press the button. It's really weird and hard to use I think.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Still feels that the Japanese demo is much more enjoyable than the UK/US demo. I just don't know why.

hey can u check Cpu at superstar level please? is more near to the wonderfull way of demo1 leaked 1 month ago?
i mean is more aggressive when attack and shoots more times?

thank u dude :))

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

So, what did I miss? Is demo out, yet?

Just kidding…

Love what I saw in last few pages of this thread. Waiting for PC release is harder then ever.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

I just don't get it. Companies like 2K, Sony and Naughty Dog have produced fluid, lifelike animation with great lighting and razor sharp graphics for years on these consoles. So when Konami stand up and tell everyone their revolutionary, scaleable engine will produce stunning graphics the likes of which we've never seen on current gen, then I took notice.

Given their bragging about the game, I find it ridiculous that what we get is lower resolution than most PS3 games, low in detail and struggling with frame-rate issues, responsiveness and even had to have weather effects removed. It's really well animated now but other companies have totally outshone this game graphically, and with games that are 3-4 years older than this.

If the engine is so amazing then how come my PS3 can run NBA 2K and other stunning looking games without all these compromises?

The sum-up of polygons on screen at one particular moment in a football game is bigger than pretty much every other genre. That and the load on the CPU is probably even bigger with the enormous amounts of calculations the CPU has to make for the AI routines and the physics. No other genre makes so much use of probability projection and prediction (the sort of stuff Deep Blue did to beat Kasparov, but on a much bigger level).

Love what I saw in last few pages of this thread. Waiting for PC release is harder then ever. I even played the game which name should not be spoken in this part of the forum. To be honest with you, I was shocked!? That game has really good presentation (as always). Cut scenes at the beginning of the match are wonderful, especially one just before kick-off. Players shaking hands, refs acting cool…
However, after kick-off it was like…

Wrong thread for FIFA discussion.

Not aimed at you personally but it's odd that people decide to post how much they dislike FIFA in the PES thread whilst not actually posting in the actual FIFA thread.

Presumably because they know it wouldn't go down well in the FIFA thread, I guess. But "No FIFA demo talk in here!" is in the title for a reason.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

I need the full game now! Playing for only 5min drives me crazy, as i usually do 15min or 20min on PES6.

Cocaine is one hell of a drug.

Reminds me of that clip of the keeper sprinting back to his half, though I suppose it is also has traces of ketchup.

I didn't know usain bolt played on an actual team lol

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Thousands of animation and advanced physics rendered per second, take into consideration it is 22++ moving objects with it's unique AI at the same time, that's double or triple your average first person shooter / action game.

In action / fps / adventure genre, there's bag of trick to maintain stable frame rate. Particularly draw distance, level of detail and texture compression. Think like you're in a small box, everything is rendered on limited radius, with post-processing effect to mask the lo-fi texture. While in sports genre, you can't quite do the same because everything is projected at the same time.

Sony and Naughty Dog titles, being an in-house production for Sony Computer Entertainment will always better optimized because it is build specifically for PS3. The same can be said for Xbox exclusive as well (Forza, Halo, GoW).

Like i said before, it's not just about graphic fidelity when it comes to processing power and consumption.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Few questions for those that have played a bunch:

- Is something broken with headers, particularly attacking? I've chested goals, and had the ball just hit my attacker while trying to head the ball. Occassionally same happens in defence. Like the player just doesn't respond.

- Is there a 'first touch' button you should use when receiving the ball in pressure? All of my attackers have the first touch of a rapist in the final third, often bobbling the ball all the way back into midfield instead of making a nice touch.

R2/RT for more precise 1st touch especially for hard to control situations.

Disappointingly, they've taken out the subtle R2/RT movement of players in the air when contesting aerial balls, thats quite annoying and unnecessary :(

I started using advanced through ball in this demo from the start because in PES 2013 the aerial through balls were assisted in the wrong way in that they had a maximum distance depending on where the player receiving was. Basically it was almost impossible to play an aerial run on ball, at least in my game. I love the advanced through ball except the target itself, but without it it'd be impossible. If you have time and space you can play some incredible balls and it's pretty easy to use. Whereas under pressure with little space it is extremely difficult and you can end up losing control of the target and send the ball miles wide or far.

I noticed this too. This is horrible actually. Because using R2 to position yourself to make a volley instead of just running into the ball is impossible now unless I have missed something.

I also noticed when playing as fixed player that my player hardly ever tried to head a ball if another of my players had locked on and try to head it. Felt like FIFA where only one per team can head the ball... hope this is not true.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Still don't like the need to use super-cancel in certain situations. The player I have selected should be free at all times without having to grip R1+R2.

Yep.. ive got both versions. WE seems slightly slower, but definitely smoother.. and not frame rate issues during game play.
Also noticed that crowd noise, particularly after scoring goals is way superior in the WE version... feels better. Mind you .. with an added +1 speed would be great

UPDATED:
I know people are saying that there are differences in the versions, and some saying its just an illusion, but ive tried the US version and the Jap version.. Thought Jap version was smoother...but also slower..

Then tonight after having a few games on the jap version, I dl the Australian version.... wow.. I mean for me its quicker than the jap version but also smooth.. much smoother than the us version.. weird..

So, what is going on with Controlled Shot? R2 while shooting.

The angle is around 120 degrees straight up in the air, no matter how controlled the situation is, or is it just me?

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

downloading the french store demo (it´s the same as the Uk one, right?) after loving the US one.

The stadium list is really disappointing.I´ve read in a Brazilian site that with the monthly DLC´s PES will finish with, at least, 48 stadiums.let´s wait and hope.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Konami have already announced 2 DLC stadiums so they can do it, even if they do generic stadiums it will be a start

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Goalkeepers punt/volley animations are crazy good .

I think i already saw all the celebrations cutscenes though :(

We really need manual controlled celebrations like fifa... how awesome is to be able to control your celebration..
wonder when Konamovic will get on board!!!

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Hate manual celebrations.
Pointless.
If they import that,i will never get through that.

PS: Really dont see point of removing generic stadiums...
We dont have even one close stadium to some example Italian stadiums :/

GOD,stadium creator,is needed most than ever!

Don't think you can compare 22 players on the pitch with all the AI and physics and animations and everything that happens on the pitch plus the graphics and the stadiums and the crowd and etc etc with uncharted or the like.

Maybe 2K but then again that's less than half the people playing.

All my guess here.

_anderson beat me and looks like he knows what he's talking about :)

The freedom of being able to celebrate after a goal should atleast me an option.. would love to go that step further than fifa, and be able to run around a running track with the subs etc..

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Honestly I hate the Fifa celebrations.
I think the way you can run around doing zig-zags looks unrealistic. But that's only my opinion.

EDIT: The England player and kits look incredible in the team celebration cutscene! :WOOT:

fuck self service celebrations, i love when a player does something random or funny... especially when playing other humans in the rooom

yeah I find the trajectory very odd when using it sometimes

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

My time to be petty: Konami won't be seeing any of my money until there's a stadiumserver with Dragão in it (which I'll be looking to convert if I can).

At least you have your team. They lost Fenerbahce this year.I am not sure about buying the game at this moment even though ı love gameplay..
