Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Had about 15 games last night, using all combos of teams (but not mixing club with International obvs).

It's bloody great.

The short demo time is understandable but also very frustrating. Because of the time restraints I find myself simply trying to win the game rather than appreciating the finer aspects of the game. I wonder if some of the more casual gamers who have no preference for this over FIFA might give it a miss because they're not given enough time to see and feel the art?

Some quick and random observations:

* Keepers are great! Only one goal where I felt they could've done better. But defo better than the {ahem} other demo that came out this week.

* WTF with the cursors in the menus? Some sort of retro "trying to look like a PC game" thing? Just looks rubbish in my opinion.

* It seems the Full Back position will be a key one in this game. This seemed to be the most frequently used player position no matter which team I played with but very much in evidence for both Spain and France.

* I couldn't get sent off no matter how hard I tried last night. Hope this isn't still in the final release.

* I'm definitely too old to learn all of the stick combos for dribbles.

* Commentary is even more w@nk than normal. It has gone backwards with the mid-90s technique of the lines being spoken in a normal tone then the player's names are said using a different volume range. Piss poor.

* Player individuality is more apparent than it has been for many a year. I found myself actively trying to play through the key play makers, just to feel the difference. Pirlo, Iniesta and Xavi in particular.

OK, I could go on so I'll stop there.

Roll on next week, can't wait to get playing League Mode with this beauty.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

How exactly do you curl it man? I've taken a good few shots with R2 and they curl but most often they go extremely high and way off target as well as looking very unnatural, except once where it was perfect and hit the bar.

Haven't tried that yet. Mostly shifting between basic, advanced and manual for now and trying L2 shooting.

For some reason though, I just cannot pull the left trigger and shoot straight. For me it's like trying pat my head whilst rubbing my stomach...

Practice makes perfect ;)

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Stadium list is piss poor to be honest. Konami have lost much more than the Spanish stadia if that list is true.

I agree. How can you manage to play master league in any league with this stadium list? You will be playing against teams with the same home stadium as you...That sucks

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

The more i play, the more i love it. Dribbling takes a while to master but then works like a charm. Can't wait for the full game. Konami will see my money for the first time since 2007.

Konami better announces more stadiums coming from DLC soon after release (even unlicensed), that list is shameful ...

At this point I'm not sure if they lost the licenses, or if they didn't have time to re-make the stadiums. Not talking about Spanish stadiums.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

7 Generic stadiums are missing from PES 2013

Bristol Mary Stadium
Rose Park Stadium

Royal London Stadium
Estadio Del Nuevo Triunfo
Stade De Sagittaire
Stadio Orione

Burg Stadion
Ville Marie Stadium
Estadio De Escorpiao
Estadio Amazonas
Estadio De Palenque

Konami Stadium

It would not be bad if we had those 7, it is poor not to have Generic Stadiums you had before

Oh well, PC modders to the rescue once again.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

With a lack of Stadiums, let's hope the Ingame Stadium Editor is half decent - if there is one ;)

Konami Giveth...Konami Taketh Away!

EDIT: Just read that it's been taken out :(
Oh well...

Yeah from Japan psn. There's a step by step guide in creating an account on youtube very easy to do. Definately worth downloading.

Sweet, thanks! Downloading it now. :)

Hicksville - according to one of the guys over at the Winning Eleven Next Gen blog, PES 2014 isn't going to feature an in-game stadium editor. I have no idea why. :(

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

True. But kinda irrealistic as it goes too strong almost all the time. It lacks varation aswell, especially the trajectories and ball physics. Have you managed to pull out a "grounded" shot yet?

I agree they look a bit the same. Pretty much never any top spin shots. I've only made some driven low shots in the training mode, if you mean normal low hard shots by pressing through ball button right as you hit the ball.

Edit:

I've had a bug happen several times now when a defender just keep running away from the ball into the stands behind the goal. It's like he is locked to the ball, if the ball had been behind the goal.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

My time to be petty: Konami won't be seeing any of my money until there's a stadiumserver with Dragão in it (which I'll be looking to convert if I can).

Noticed this with Balotelli. :LMAO:
'BALOTELLI blablabla' It's ridiculous but it's funny!

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Still feels that the Japanese demo is much more enjoyable than the UK/US demo. I just don't know why.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Goalkeepers punt/volley animations are crazy good .

I think i already saw all the celebrations cutscenes though :(

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

DLC stadiums are an absolute neccesity now.

I really hope they can devote some time to this.

Apart from maybe the Spanish stadiums i don't really buy the licensing reasoning put forward by konami. I think its more probable that they just could not find the time or resources to put it all together.
Its a disappointing list, only 17 stadiums in total (san siro and meazza are the fecking same no matter what konami think!).

Also,as the holder of the champions league and europa league licence surely they could have mounted a decent fight to get the teams who have qualified for this season into the game. At least those who have not signed ea exclusive deals?

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

I'm pretty sure there is no license which forbids Konami or any company for that matter to have an ingame stadium editor.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

So it might be placebo, but after reading here that the UK demo is better, I downloaded it on my lunch. And surprisingly, it did actually feel slower and a better game. The CPU didn't seem to hound me as much and it just felt great.

Advanced through-balls were a bit awkward though! I'd just pressed the button, VERY briefly saw a yellow target and then the player booted it!

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

I think I'm in the few here that love the graphics and think it's the best I've ever seen in a football game.

I think PC gamers comparing their souped up older PES versions to this console version isn't doing this any justice. To say this looks like a PS2 game is extreme. If I had this back in my PS2 days I'd be over the moon.

About manual shooting, manual shooting with L2 feels more powerful than manual shooting from settings.

I just don't get it. Companies like 2K, Sony and Naughty Dog have produced fluid, lifelike animation with great lighting and razor sharp graphics for years on these consoles. So when Konami stand up and tell everyone their revolutionary, scaleable engine will produce stunning graphics the likes of which we've never seen on current gen, then I took notice.

Given their bragging about the game, I find it ridiculous that what we get is lower resolution than most PS3 games, low in detail and struggling with frame-rate issues, responsiveness and even had to have weather effects removed. It's really well animated now but other companies have totally outshone this game graphically, and with games that are 3-4 years older than this.

If the engine is so amazing then how come my PS3 can run NBA 2K and other stunning looking games without all these compromises?

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

^^
Konami is clueless , thats why. Its down to community to get full package of football game once again.
This year might be different than other cg titles, that there we might have best base (gameplay) .

It's a fairly new engine and the game have more advanced scenarios (AI, dribble etc etc) that could happen instantly. My guess is that it's not tweaked as it could have been.

I don't have a problem with the graphics at all, it's the slowdowns and stuttering that impact my enjoyment factor. The gameplay is mostly amazing imo.
