Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)
Had about 15 games last night, using all combos of teams (but not mixing club with International obvs).
It's bloody great.
The short demo time is understandable but also very frustrating. Because of the time restraints I find myself simply trying to win the game rather than appreciating the finer aspects of the game. I wonder if some of the more casual gamers who have no preference for this over FIFA might give it a miss because they're not given enough time to see and feel the art?
Some quick and random observations:
* Keepers are great! Only one goal where I felt they could've done better. But defo better than the {ahem} other demo that came out this week.
* WTF with the cursors in the menus? Some sort of retro "trying to look like a PC game" thing? Just looks rubbish in my opinion.
* It seems the Full Back position will be a key one in this game. This seemed to be the most frequently used player position no matter which team I played with but very much in evidence for both Spain and France.
* I couldn't get sent off no matter how hard I tried last night. Hope this isn't still in the final release.
* I'm definitely too old to learn all of the stick combos for dribbles.
* Commentary is even more w@nk than normal. It has gone backwards with the mid-90s technique of the lines being spoken in a normal tone then the player's names are said using a different volume range. Piss poor.
* Player individuality is more apparent than it has been for many a year. I found myself actively trying to play through the key play makers, just to feel the difference. Pirlo, Iniesta and Xavi in particular.
OK, I could go on so I'll stop there.
Roll on next week, can't wait to get playing League Mode with this beauty.
