Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

By the way, has to be said, the commentary in Winning Eleven is 100x better than the English commentary, even when I cant understand a word of it (except SHOOTO / OFFSIDO) lol, you can just tell there is real interaction between the 2 commentators and a kind of chemistry, like where one of the commentators is speaking the other is like "yeah, uhuh" in agreement at the same time.

The commentary with Jon Champion & Jim Beglin sounds 99% the same as last year and is truly awful.

I'm actually tempted to import Winning Eleven for the PS3 as well as buying the game for PC, Winning Eleven will be great fun with J-League DLC to play, that's tempting for me :)

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

One thing I've noticed after watching lots of full match videos is that CPU players still have a tendency to try and take on their man first and pass as a second choice, which seems a little unrealistic as in a RL match 90% of players get their heads up and seek a passing option first. I noticed this happening a lot in BAL 2013, especially in the middle of the pitch. Defenders always look for the pass first still though in their own half.

Also, when they take the defender on they almost always seem to go right at them, rather than trying to find a way around and invariably lose the ball. Of course, this also makes for some awesome highlights when the dribble works and they beat their man.

I should suffix this post by saying that I haven't played the demo yet. Can anyone who's played the demo give some feedback on this aspect of the game? Is this the impression you get, or am I (hopefully) wrong on this?

@ goalgerd - thanks for highlighting the state of the catchup bug. It seems that many people have ignored your posts but the wingplay elements do seem quite badly affected at times. A good pass out to an open man on the wings should mean a chance of a good cross, not frustration due to the player seeming to take a week to sort out their feet and get to the ball when the defenders seem to have no issue.

Theres the ketchup bug just in case you think its a wind up, i had 15 yards head start on valbuena with nani but then fir no reason valbuena gets a speed boost and nani stops dead without my imput

Starting to find the chinks in the amour

Its situations like these (ie. chasing a ball, eg through ball) that I think you have to repeatedly press r1, rather than just holding it down.. try it.. I swear I noticed it increasing the speed of runs off the ball..

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Yeah the 360 has less framerate issues but the graphics are just as washed out. Times like this i feel blessed to have a PC.

Anyway, the game evokes some really exciting emotions, it's literally like learning to play PES all over again, understanding a new engine, the games logic, it's as realistic and as punishing as ever, just how it should be.

To begin with, i had more problems just turning quickly or taking a quicker touch in a certain direction when receiving the ball, kept getting dispossessed easily by the CPU. Wasn't until yesterday i realised that if you hit sprint as soon as you receive the ball into touch with your player as well as the direction you want to take in, you give yourself alot more time and room. It's asif to say dashing this year, not only allows you to sprint when on the run as we're used to using, but also acts as an urgency command, like you would do in real life if you was being pressed.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Winning Eleven 2014 demo is better and thats a fact! more polished and strangely enough not framerate problems.

Kabira is the man lol bring back memories

Yep.. ive got both versions. WE seems slightly slower, but definitely smoother.. and not frame rate issues during game play.
Also noticed that crowd noise, particularly after scoring goals is way superior in the WE version... feels better. Mind you .. with an added +1 speed would be great :)

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

URGENT!!!

I suggest you all download the UK PSN demo of PES2014. It is smoother & more respnsive than the USA demo downloaded yesterday.

I was hating this second demo. Too frustrating and unresponsive. I deleted it and downloaded the UK version. 10x the game. I swear. Try it. It's not a placebo effect.

Is that the same as the Australian version???

This is much needed..as the catch up happens when players are off the ball running towards it... still I reckon repeated tapping of r1 helps...

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

So I agree there are some niggles, framerate and player changing being the worst of them for me, but there is a brilliant game here.

I find it odd there are so many people moaning about the game speed and dribbling.

The dribbling is an absolute joy, admittedly I played a lot of the leaked demo and it took a while to click but once it did...wow.

The way you can lose a defender my taking advantage of their momentum and bursting away is so satisfying. People used to bang on about how easily you could beat a man on PS2 PES with a quick movement...well you can now and it's far better represented than it ever was.

Finally, what excites me most is the fact there appears to be real depth to the game and the mechanics. I feel like there's so much I still need to learn and also so much variation to be had once i've mastered all these new mechanics.

Should be a good year.

PS people seem to just ignore or forget about the issues the older games had. With any new game, all positives appear to be discarded and only the issues picked up on.

Now we have PES2014 which overall is a good game but saying it's a true PES is lying to ourself, it's so far from being enjoyable and addictive as PS2 PES is used to be.

Maybe youve grown up? I still like PES but its never been as good as PES 1-5. (I dont include PES14 in this as only played the demo)

Im 38 now and maybe I look at classic PES with young rose tinted glasses.

Maybe you are doing the same? Just a thought!

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

If this game had no response time issue and no frame rate issues it would be hailed as the best football game ever created.

These issues are niggling things thats stopping us from being overwhelmed with joy.

This is why the PC version could potentially best the best football game ever made.

Hi everyone

Pros of the demo:
- Momentum in players
- Animation
- Lob passes feel great
- The feeling of football.

Cons of the demo:
- Ground through-balls are not quite good, specially in advanced setup. I'm a big fan of through-balls in real life, I'm doing them almost all the time. They are not quite well implemented in the game, though.
- The players don't attack the ball whenever they are in position to receive it. In real life this is very important, and so it is in the game.
- If the CPU coverage is man to man, the 2-1 and trhough balls should be easly performed. This is not the case.
- Switching and forward runs are way to complicated with the combo LB+stick. It should be more intuitive.

Overall, I've enjoyed a lot the demo. I'm an online player, so if online is on spot, this game will be legendary =). Filter for manual players are great news

So few people understand this. You develop along with the games, you expect and demand more to be impressed. The thing is you will never get the first moment again so the feelings you have while playing new games have to be different.

Absolutely right.

I can tell you i already played 10 hours of this demo and at first i wasn't exactly blown away by it

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

A generic team called Cunturipa?

Either someone at Konami has a sense of humour or they haven't run this one by anyone with a grasp of the English language.

Apparently they are awful. Totally gash. :COAT:

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

LOL, even Konami no longer acknowledge Sporting as a top tier club in Portugal

this is why Portugal is such a small minded country, we lose one team in a internation game played by milions and some of my country man are happy about it.

sorry for the offtopic but this pettiness and selfishness its just amazing.

back in pes loving the demo, but still have a felling that its a next gen game squeezed in a current gen

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

How is Sporting not licensed? This is hilariously bad. So they removed Alvalade XXI from the game too?

My last hope is the retail version not having response issues - I will rent it once it'S out to give it a last chance.
I like the most what I have seen in the demo, besides some "minor" issue I could live with, but the response issue is the most important for me, that is what makes PES2014 absolutely terrible for me. It could have been really, really good. :(

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Exact opposite for me. Seeing GKs doing more saves and better on the near corner too. More animations too. They're more responsive to situations as well.

To call demo 2 "broken" though...
They dont make half as many saves. They have
been toned down. They react slower and positioning seems off. First demo I struggled to fault them

All you guys who've been part of my Evo-Web life since 2001: You're bringing tears of joy to me. Seeing many of you oldsters still around and enjoy the demo makes me smile, I reallyreallyreally can't wait to get my hands on the PC version now. I missed that feel. Sniff. That is all.

Does that mean we can expect one of your special option files this year :))

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Negatives of the demo. Bad responsiveness especially during collisions, and changing players on and off the ball; there is even slight input lag generally throughout the gameplay. Changing players is the worst part of the demo. They really need to get rid of that input lag, it makes a potentially great game, a broken game; seriously, it's a major problem having every clearance, shots, crosses, passes, and tackling happen half a second later. There is also a slight lack of urgency, and awareness issues with teammates. Other than that, i'm quite happy with the demo; the animations are superb, teammate and defensive AI excellent, collisions are more than adequate, and goalkeepers just good enough.

Haha, them memories! :)

Unfortunately, only Coopz appears to be left from our crew. Antiz, Zygalski...gosh, I miss them :(
