Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

When does this thing go live in the EU/UK? PSN or Live, don't care. Have both.

Tonight I think, although it's very easy to set up a US account. The Youtube Tutorial works well for both US and JAP.

So, on one hand people say the game even on current gen looks stunning, with realistic lighting, awesome pitch textures and little details - and miles better than previous PES games. On the other hand, people seem to now be saying it looks atrocious, with blurry visuals and poor textures.

FFS which is it?

For us non-PC people, it looks great, better than ever. By a country mile as well.

I have mine running to a 51' Samsung Full HD screen, via a Sony Receiver, which also upscales. With my new Boston Accoustics 5.1 system, this looks and sounds awesome. :)

(There are framerate issues on the replays, but hopefully that will be sorted for release)

Edit - Why not download it and see for yourself ?!! This is very close to retail, I'm sure of that.

Was tempted to ring in sick this morning for work, has that" just one more game" feeling back. Think the thing about this demo and hopefully full game if they dont dumb it down will be having a football brain will be better vs having a gamer brain, the more you put into it will mean a novice gamer will never beat a experienced player whose put in the hours playing, thats the way it shoud be

Looking forward to giving my arcade style playing mates a pasting at this this year!

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

I just feel like i need to play this on PC to really get the best out of it and enjoy it to to the full. I'm not used to this slow sluggishness of the PS3.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

I'm a PC gamer and trying this demo on the 360, it's VERY blurry and low res to me compared to PC games so maybe people saying the same also mainly play on PC?

Ah okay that makes more sense, as long as it looks miles better than previous PES games then I'll be happy enough.

I was gonna wait until release so it's fresh but I'll most likely download it tonight when I get back from work. All this praise has made it too difficult not to download!!

I'm guessing it's on UK PSN sometime today...

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Really dissapointed they didn't fix the replays. I hate it that it's always at slow speed. It just makes the bad awareness of players stand out more and you can't get much satisfaction of your goals when every replay is in slow motion. Watching the hilghlights of a game is NOT FUN anymore. IMO the replays should be played at a slightly higher speed than the actual game.

I read some other people complain about this and I hope there can be a general call from the community to fix this, because I can't see why KONAMI are doing this, this should be easy to change right, unless it has something to do with framerate issues.

Same here.. loading times are something i'm not used to.. and they drive me nuts.

I decided to wait for full release on PC so I'm fresh. I want everything at 60fps including replays.

I actually did it, I cancelled all the classes I have today (I am a private teacher) just to play the demo. Only a couple of games played and I already fallen in love

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

This game is so deep and ı love it..Finally tried the demo and it's just amazing. My only concern is that ı haven't scored a long shot goal and it feels like it's impossible..I don't know either it's realistic or harder than realistic..

I keep reading people finding it tough to score from long range and I say at fucking last !!! I mean long range goals should feel "special" in their rarity.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

It seems they have got rid of the slow mo celebrations shown at the end of replays when you score, which is something they do on TV

Totally off-topic, but this is the man who should have got Adam Bhatti's job.
Here is someone who loves PES, tries to be objective, helps people and does not attack who have a deifferent opinion.
Hope you enjoy this game 12 month long. You deserve that and much more jimmy.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Thanks Lami.

I think the foundation is there for some very good tactical (borderline excellent against the right opponent) sim football, its not without fault but its heading in the right direction.

agreed I love jimmy's write ups

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Responsiveness seems bit too low for me, and I don't mean in terms of dribbling angles. I feel like I'm fighting the controller just to do simple turns, even with agile players. I don't want it to be PES 2012 levels but it does feel like running through treacle at times. While I always champion momentum and inertia, some control seems to have been sacrificed. It feels worse on zero, fighting the controller with non assisted passing.

I'll see how I feel with more extended play.

It's cos this game needs a speed setting like the leaked demo. i do not prefer the leaked demo, but i'd rather play it cos i can set the game speed to a +1 or +2. it makes a world of a difference.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

How do you view player cards when looking at stats? I see icons but can't access them for individual players.
The only way I found was to bring up the Help screen (press 'Select') and then go to 'Player Cards' (i think that's what it's called.)

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Actually it seems maybe its the jumpy, skippy, dvd drive or something slowing the game down? Its feeling better, probably just takes some getting used to :)

EDIT: Forget what I said, a combination of odd disc/dvd drive behaviour and tactical adjustment and learning curve, responsiveness is balanced and fine :)

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Found a bug.

Day matches seem to be slower than night matches. Possibly why there is no gamespeed since the pace seems to vary depending on the stadium.

This must be a Level of Detail thing. I think we would all prefer for it to be toned down so it runs better than the lag we see now. I think this is the problem here with the demo. The lag.

I appreciate your comments, and yes, that would be my 'dream job'. Thankyou :)

But fair-play to Adam, he went out and made that dream happen. And regardless of what I personally think of the way he acts, or his knowledge of football in general, I can only respect what he has achieved.

I've also leart to get off my high-horse in my more mature years, and not take things personally with regards to PES anymore.

You can't, which is pretty silly. They have the Player Card Symbol, but we are now expected to know what it actually means. You can bring up the full list of Player Cards by pressing Select, and scrolling down to Player Skills. To be honest, this is a ball-ache and not user-friendly. Especially due to the fact we have 'new' Player Cards this year.

So, they bring back the Hexagon, and take away something as simple as on-screen Player Card explanations. Truly bizarre. :(

Help explains skill cards with their number
