Ok i have managed to play like 5 games from the demo. First impressions:

- I dont think that the speed of the game is slow as many people have said. Sometimes moving slower sometimes faster, as it should be.

- I didn't notice any severe button lag. For me responsiveness is ok.

- At last Konami seem to choose simulation route. Huge potential for future games.

- I am enjoying the game when i choose fixed cursor (choose to control one player) as i am finding it difficult to control all the players. You need to position your player correctly and think about your next move as soon as you receive the ball. Doesn't get any more realistic than that. I am anxiously waiting to see the 11v11 implementation. I wish they got it right as it will be the mode i will be playing most.

- I wish that there are many options for cameras on the final game. And i also wish that it will be easier to switch cameras while the game flows.

- I haven't manage to explore strategies, tactics etc. I wish that there is a proper training mode to learn that stuff and also player andvanced controls.

- I need time to explore the game further. Seems like Konami has taken a good path ;-)

So no long range goals?

I really couldn't score from outside the box. I've tried with the best shooters available and it seemed impossible to me at this stage, keepers are superb at that. I've tried with finesse shot, I've also tried by pressing the shooting button and then pressing it again right before the player hits the ball, which gives the shot much more power.

I would love to see a video of someone scoring a long ranger though, to see that's possible at least.

I've hit some screamers from outside the box but not had one go in yet. Hit the post and bar.

The power bar can be filled a lot higher this year i've noticed. Don't be scared to let it go a bit further.

Weird then, you should at least see it as a great improvement from the mess PES2013 was.

Well it is a whole different game. There is no comparing. Maybe I need to play more, but the sluggish, FIFA- esque feeling of the game completely puts me off. I find it too difficult to impose my own style on the CPU...
Also, graphically, I really do not see this whole revolution. On the contrary, I find it underwhelming and it seems that frame rate is an issue once again.

Same here. Keepers know exactly where you are shooting from long range and they will produce any impossible save they need. Thats one concern of mine. What is PES, or what is football without long range bombs? Hopefully thats different in next week's demo.

Posting this question again for anyone who has played the demo:

Does PES now have the possibility to alter the dribble speed of a player, or the general movement speed, by tilting the stick to varying degrees?

This is something I've wanted in PES, well, since FIFA implemented it. When you play fixed to one player, say in Be A Legend mode, it always feels stiff and weird to only be able to stand still or move at a normal pace. It would be nice if they now also have analog dribble pace by how far you tilt the stick in the direction you are moving. That way if you are a lazy striker up top, you can conserve stamina, and look authentic, by just lazily walking around in no real hurry.

In BAL, I hold down R2 while moving around to "walk lazily". I play as a left back and usually move forward with R2 held down to match the movement of the CBs in setting the back line depth. Then when it becomes time to overlap, I let go of R2 to move forward and R1 sprint into space to make myself available for a through ball on the flank.

It's probably the combination of the superstar AI with the input lag. Which FIFA doesn't have by the way, if anything it's "way too smooth".

From what I've seen on bitter's stream it takes quite some time to get used both to the controls and to the AI, but after a while you start to get used to it and understand how you should be dealing with both.

Most complaints about the demo I'm seeing on here are related to the sluggishness coupled with the superstar difficulty. Makes it very hard to control the game and play with any personal style. Strange that at some point someone in Konami thought it would be a good idea to release this demo. No wonder it was pulled. Still has a huge amount of potential though.

First impressions are that this is amazing.

The contextual body movement at times is simply stunning.

This is a real sim game, you can't just take the ball and run, you need to pass, pass and pass (often backwards too) which is great, you actually feel like your trying to open the opposition up and find the space.

Defending is rock hard (for me anyway)

The difficulty in this demo is way to high for me (but its a way better too high than fifa ever is), and therefore hampers it a bit, but if I could alter that then underneath is the most stunning and complete video game representation of the sport I have ever played.

I knew this year konami would win as having watched the videos as they have come out they are clearly the ones being innovative, and this feels like a mixture of classic pes but is different enough to feel like a new game worthy of the £40 spend. EA have just given people a roster update if you watch their videos for 14.

I scored this the other night with Muller, he dupes the last defender with his quick feet, moves it onto his right foot, then digs it out of his feet with a 3/4 Power R2 Controlled Shot into the far corner....

it's denifinitely no game for sprinting noobs.

get ur hand off the spring button, try passing the ball around, use player skills.

if u think about playing a "run and gun" kinda game, just like pes6 or pes 2012/2013 then u get ur ass kicked. A true simulation has to be played with patience and skills.

Which is good as most kids will be easy to beat on line. this game is for an adult audience, that's for sure.

Agreed. For me, although flawed at this stage, this is the most realistic football game ever created.

screamers from distance are difficult because button lag is particularly bad for shooting, especially if u have to fill in the bar a lot. this means that by the time the player is ready to kick defenders close down the shot.

Wanted to ask, maybe someone, who has a demo, could take and post a screen with Possession Game strategy slider settings?

Thank you.

Thank God for that - let's hope that idiotic passes are punished even with 4 bars assistance, of balance/under pressure, passes must reflect the situation. I can only hope.

For fuck's sake, this is saddening to see when, back in the PS2 days, goalkeepers did amazing saves that looked lifelike and were actually useful.

On PES 6 on the PS2, the goalkeepers are shockingly bad. I was playing it earlier this week. Even for teams like Real Madrid and Man Utd, the GK's pary really weak shots and let them trickle into the bottom corner of the goal. They are like sunday league goalkeepers. Shocking.
