PES 2014 Discussion Thread

It does feel more responsive on +2 but i feel the running speed is too fast, the players are too quick. I found a happy medium with +1.
:TU:
why they don't just licence all italian stadiums as a countermeasure for loosing spanish ones?

it's just easy to tell "we lost spanish stadiums due to licencing". why you didn't bring some others that EA doesn't have under them???
It was too late. Had it happened earlier that would've been the case.
Because "Gameplay is fundamental"..One company which repeat to the paroxysm this slogan, has certainly something to hide.
So, the gate is open..:PIRATE:
Nothing to hide mate. No conspiracy theories here.

Placebo's reaction was about Konami's 'lazyness' (or lack of initiative).
I'm gonna give you an example. It's obvious that in PES 2014 they target South-America with the addition of both Argentinian and Chilean leagues licensed. The obvious thing to do would be to include lots of South-American stadiums (let's say 30). And please don't come with the argument that Konami knew very late in the development process that they didn't have the license to include other European stadiums. If that is the case they should fire some people in their legal department.
But I can because it's what really happened. It's not laziness. Creating stadiums is an effort and not as easy you think. Time, money, resources, legalities, you name it. If it was you'd see every club and national team stadium in the game. It did happen too late and there was hardly time to go for another package. Even EA don't have that many stadiums in, but I don't really know much about their engine and how easy/difficult it is to build using it.

About Adam Bhatti. I personal have nothing against him. I also have the feeling that somepeople here have an unjust grudge against him. But this alone makes him a very bad community manager. The guy is too controversial within the PES community. Also look at how he acts sometimes. I am welll aware that the community can be very unreasonable at times ( no rain: i will cancel my preorder), but the big mistake is that he lets himself draw into discussion/polemics with some of these people. A good community manager doesn't defend his product by defending it too obviously. A good community manager knows when he has to stop reacting. Adam Bhatti is too personally involved (emotionally ???).

I hope this answers your questions.

Yeah thanks.

It is strange that some people in this thread simply don't want to see any criticism thrown towards Konami. Since PES 1 i bought every single PES game and this sometimes on playstation, Xbox, PSP and even Nintendo (for my kids). I'm a very good cutomer. I have some rights imho opinion.

Why do some assume that criticism isn't allowed? Surprised by this considering a big % of this thread is about criticism. The last 10-20 pages for example. Crazy rain talk. Everyone has a right to an opinion, it's just the way it is brought forward that's sometimes the issue; stating opinions as facts, being too aggressive, forcing your own opinion on people etc.

It is also absolutely ridiculius to blame EA for licensegate. Every good company would protect those licenses like crown jewels. In the PS2 era, Konami didn't need those licenses to attract millions of costumers....

Of course a company would protect what they have for business. And of course Konami didn't need licenses back then, but that doesn't take away the fact that millions of people choose to opt for another game solely for licenses. That's realism to them. They can't be bothered with all the editing. That's normal. The problem at hand though is the future of licensing. Because the stadium editor being gone due to some people not liking the fact fans create lifelike stadiums for free and share them about, this has opened a whole new world of locking out edit mode as a whole in the not so distant future. Being able to lockout editing based on reasons like company A throws tons of money on licensing only for fans freely able to create even better results using the free editor and share it totally defeats the purpose of licensing in the first place to them. They don't like it. Imagine a future with no edit mode as a result of this. Strictly licensed everything.

I have also the feeling (and that is my main criticism) that despite all the Adam Bhatti's in the world. Konami does not listen to the community. One example. If you have people reading internet forums, make the game much more customizable. Lots of people are fed up with the fake second divisions in the ML. The solution is very simple: give people the option to play ML without a second division and promotion and relevation. That way you don't even need a league mode (that is the reason why i personally have been playing more and more this mode).

Actually they do read. What I don't know is how they go about choosing. Don't have much to say here tbh.

my question is....why they block the statidum edit and not the kits and player edit? ea has the licenses of teams and players too.

still got the feeling that we are not getting all truth about this edit fiasco

Well let's just hope we don't go down that route.

The issue here is creating/editing to make them as realistic as possible and share them with others.

If this was strictly local then we wouldn't have a problem I believe.

EA's business is online. They said it themselves now. They're all about online.

@Lami
if you are so sensible, you can't believe stadium editor removal under license lockdown.
People ask konami to be honest. Not aggressive in business, not lazy in programming; just honest. Full price and loyal fans deserve honesty.

Wowzers lot of posts to catch up with overnight!

Fif always out sold pes. Dont let the fact pes was seen superior make u think it didnt. And it was due to license

Yes Fifa probably did always sell more, however the market share between about 1999 and 2007 or so was a lot closer, PES/WE used to sell many millions a year, it's only in recent times that certain markets have seen Fifa outself PES by 25:1 and such. Konami had a real opportunity to stride ahead with PES 99-07 but for whatever reason they chose not to, they chose not to reinvest some of the hundreds of millions of $ the game was bringing them in into licenses, they chose not to invest into building up ML, I'm shocked that I basically stopped playing PES at PES5 and started again with PES 2013 and ML is essentially the same, couple of additions here, including some magic boots and that's about it, I'm someone who only plays manager mode, career mode etc exclusively, I know I'm in the minority but between PES5 and PES 2013 have they seriously invested no time, no money in expanding ML to appeal more to the likes of me? That shocks me.

People moaning that all people that buy Fifa buy it for the licenses and are stupid.......then everyone is moaning that Ea are buying all of the licenses and Pes can't get any? I'm confused. I thought people werent bothered about the licenses and it's all about gameplay?

Pes always had a lack of licenses and had great games, why bother hating EA? just play Pes and enjoy it?

Well said.

Personally I don't for one second believe that EA or anyone else forced the Stadium editor out of PES2014, more likely as someone intimated it's due to technical reasons or something, maybe they are having such an issue with framerate (see raingate) that allowing people to move stadium elements all over the place would create a situation where videos showing the game running at a really bad framerate would/could be posted online thus causing a PR shitstorm, just speculating obviously.

The catchup bug to some degree, I honestly don't mind.

PES 13 was way overpowered towards the quick players and someone like Van Der mirch could easily barge defenders off the ball or even hoverport through them it seems, simply because of his speed. It's almost the quicker the players were in the game, the less body balance/strength came into play. It made little sense and it was dumb.

The defenders also suffered with some slow down of their own, sometimes randomly stopping, or (even manual players will see this) a maxed out through ball down the line, a pace 85+ player will ALWAYS get there first.

Playing manual negated a lot of the problems the quick players caused, simply due to the fact it was much harder to get in behind, but it is still there, just generally the manual community aren't a bunch of online scum bags and try and have a decent game.

Lami, i do know Konami read forums, but it is not because you read everything that you really listen to what your customers want.

I'm a fan of the SSX-series of a company called EA-sports. You zhould know how these developers are in constant contact with the internet community of fans....here is an example that Konami should follow. I'm not in the mood to explain all this, just google 'merqury city' a d they a look at those forums and how the development team interacts with the Lami's of that community.... A huge difference.

Until Pes development will be in Japanese hands there will always be a huge distance between fans and development team.
Unless the japanese developers completely change their close minded behaviour and begin interacting with us

Yeah, and with all this talk of stadiums and whatnot [and being unable to play since I'm a PC Gamer] I still have no impressions from the trusted members of this Forum as to how the game plays.

But I figure people are playing the game, which is natural.

It's a funny one because this game is just short of being the perfect football sim if they fix the many small problems that is stopping this game from being unbeleivable, but there's a big if.

There is PES Productions based in London, isn't it ? What do actually they do ?

=authorized to hype more?

Probably, only 6 + Jon Murphy work in PES Productions.. 4 of them are busy playing during working day :Y1

Rain weather and some stadia are not finished, because they are busy testing alpha and beta of the game. Look only one people is working at the left of the picture.. or busy doing something else

Joke :P

Does your PS3 have custom firmware? If not the PKG won't install.

sry mate, maybe im extremely stupid..its clear that i cant play with the nomal firmware.

but package building has to be done on pc and then put this pkg file on a usb-stick...am i right?

but the package building doesnt work with this tool

regards

So is it actually confirmed they remove Stadium creator due to licensing issues? I find it hard to believe and contradictory that there would be more of an issue with a stadium creator that couldn't replicate the more famous Stadia of the world very accurately yet a kit/face import/editor with more convincing and accurate results gets overlooked.

I think it must be a simple case of New Engine = inevitable sacrifices.

Well, at least it's gotta be, hasn't it?

yeah I hate the catchup bug they should give defenders more options o contain fast players than just making them faster aswell

and has anyone notice a glitch that makes you lose the ball and sprint really fast for about a second ?

many times the ball has been kicked a lot further ahead, but my player doesn't move fast, he moves very slow, which means he always loses the ball when it happens. R1 seems inconsistent.

It makes no sense at all that stadium editor was removed due to licensing. Stadium editor won't be in the game due to poor planning or lack of resources, much like League Mode last year and all the other years where Konami has omitted established aspects of the game, such as third kits, crowds, low socks, snow, dirty kits, rain, logos on shorts ans socks, etc...
