PES 2014 Discussion Thread

:CONF: Guys, I'm starting to get depressed after reading the forum and the things that happen in PES 2014. Things are going from bad to worse. And everything was so nice and we was so happy a few months ago ... how konami managed to ruin everything in such a short time.

If the gameplay is back to its best I dont care if we get 1 stadium.
I dont care about rain or anything else.

After years of rubbish we need the gameplay back to its best.If thats the case. Ill be happy.

Havnt EA just been smarter and have help push the competitor further back?

Haven't Konami made a mistake with this oversight, and not to realise so late in the day, even to the point that an editor cannot be used due to deals being struck.

Sad news for football fans really as the less impact konami makes the less impact FIFA will make to the game play

Real loser is footy fans.

People moaning that all people that buy Fifa buy it for the licenses and are stupid.......then everyone is moaning that Ea are buying all of the licenses and Pes can't get any? I'm confused. I thought people werent bothered about the licenses and it's all about gameplay?

Pes always had a lack of licenses and had great games, why bother hating EA? just play Pes and enjoy it?

Because it could get to a point where PES is locked out of so much content and even the edit mode. Sales would drop off and they'll have less cash to invest in the game and eventually could just pull the pin. That's why we shouldn't just dismiss it with a shrug of the shoulders. The ramifications down the track are huge.

default/zero. i know you said youre using +2 -- and i dont know what you look for in a footbal game -- but it took me about 7-10 games to start feeling comfortable with the gamespeed, manual passing, and generally becoming a competent challenger for the AI. since i've become accustomed to the movement the intricacies are more natural and the game feels pretty good -- and seriously, i cant emphasis enough how bogged down my players felt in my first match

It's good you're enjoying 0 and getting accustomed to it. That's why I never said it's buggy, just too slow for me. Good reason we have the speed slider then.

It's always been about gameplay. But a certain company being aggressive about licenses and forcing another company to go down the same route is the issue. If everything got locked out then edit mode would be a thing of the past.

Why depressed? People have been enjoying the demo so far despite it's old code flaws.

Konami should be throwing cash at the EA employees responsible for getting licences. If they can get the people onboard with the customer relations skills and client rapports, they might be able to convince the relevant football associations to change their allegiances.

Either that or Konami should be lobbying the organisations responsible for licensing. Whether its FA's or FIFPro or whoever.

Like I said - the only way to make a real change is to vote with your feet and NOT buy FIFA this year. But most people will buy it anyway. That's fine and I have no problem with that but it won't help the cause. Someone started a petition over on the other forum and some people are laughing but can you imagine if every PES and FIFA player across the world signed a petition to rally against the exclusive license scenario?

Obviously deals are signed now but maybe we as consumers can make a change in order to stop the cash splashing for licensing. As the Barca coach said, to spend so much money on Bale given the economic conditions in Europe is a real tragedy. I see the same with licensing arrangements. Financial Fair Play...

Agreed.

There is always a possible route taken to manage this lami..

I am thinking about Next Gen.. I think it will be handy for PES production team to make some mandatory install of PES 2015 for instances.. or all of PES 2015 files into NG system. But they must make some files especially related to teams, players, faces, stadia, etc easy to access..

A bit similiar to what we have in PC.. NG consoles is much more like a pc than previous console, right ? If that's the case we probably don't need too deep edit mode in the original game because of it.

Iam so happy the catch up bug is there. No more running after lobbed throughballs to walcott, van der mirch whatever his fucking name is too. Great news indeed

Try building up your play

I dont agree at all.
If we want a simulation only stats should drive the gameplay.

But ronaldo doesnt receive a ball over the top in real life and burst past everyone to score 5 goals a game.

A small hint of the catch up bag is a good thing. its makes people play better football. instead of exploiting things like in FIFA

why they don't just licence all italian stadiums as a countermeasure for loosing spanish ones?

it's just easy to tell "we lost spanish stadiums due to licencing". why you didn't bring some others that EA doesn't have under them???

Great news, maybe actually makes the game playable online!

Feel a bit sad for those people who spam troughballs to Ronaldo though, what are they gonna do now...

Because "Gameplay is fundamental"..One company which repeat to the paroxysm this slogan, has certainly something to hide.
So, the gate is open..:PIRATE:

and a defender doesnt travel through worm holes to nullify fast players.

catch up bug is a band-aid for a possible mix of things such as: poor speed balancing in general, button lag, poor defensive awareness, and most guilty of all, assisted passing

a good game should have a solid enough system so such problems need not arise, it should NOT shove in oddball scripts to cover them up

Exclusives war.. one that has a lot of money will probably win this.. Just for fun, whenever or wherever konami wants to make an exclusive deals.. EA will offer twice, welcome to the jungle of the world :SMUG:

Exclusive deals aside, probaby it is also down to konami's business strategy to shift their money on to AFC, argentinian, chile league.. instead of all spanish stadia. Wait, does it mean i could not see Bernabeu, Camp nou or Vicente Calderon :CONFUSE:

Next season bettings:

1-1000 stadia from asia and africa licensed
2-stadium editor
3-rain and snow(?)
4-j league, C league, T league to balance european losses
5-CAF Champions league

Let's go!

What exactly are you agreeing with? PES was always selling millions whether back then or now. Fifa always sold more. That never stopped EA from having a hard lock on licenses. That never changed. Konami's strategy wasn't about getting licenses locked out. They had to go down this route due to how business is done. Edit mode was a good way out but if this business continues as aggressive as it is now then I fear the worst for this mode. I hope something is done about this and end exclusivity somehow and force both to go back to concentrating on what matters most: gameplay and what comes with it.

How does appointing Adam as a community manager speak volumes of Konami, Gerd? The guys at Konami are real hard at work and aren't lazy as some people like to think. This new game and engine show great promise.

About the blaming part, EA are definitely part to blame, because they aggressively encourage this license lockout. It's nothing new. It's just business, as usual.

Placebo's reaction was about Konami's 'lazyness' (or lack of initiative).
I'm gonna give you an example. It's obvious that in PES 2014 they target South-America with the addition of both Argentinian and Chilean leagues licensed. The obvious thing to do would be to include lots of South-American stadiums (let's say 30). And please don't come with the argument that Konami knew very late in the development process that they didn't have the license to include other European stadiums. If that is the case they should fire some people in their legal department.

About Adam Bhatti. I personal have nothing against him. I also have the feeling that somepeople here have an unjust grudge against him. But this alone makes him a very bad community manager. The guy is too controversial within the PES community. Also look at how he acts sometimes. I am welll aware that the community can be very unreasonable at times ( no rain: i will cancel my preorder), but the big mistake is that he lets himself draw into discussion/polemics with some of these people. A good community manager doesn't defend his product by defending it too obviously. A good community manager knows when he has to stop reacting. Adam Bhatti is too personally involved (emotionally ???).

I hope this answers your questions.

It is strange that some people in this thread simply don't want to see any criticism thrown towards Konami. Since PES 1 i bought every single PES game and this sometimes on playstation, Xbox, PSP and even Nintendo (for my kids). I'm a very good cutomer. I have some rights imho opinion.

It is also absolutely ridiculius to blame EA for licensegate. Every good company would protect those licenses like crown jewels. In the PS2 era, Konami didn't need those licenses to attract millions of costumers....

I have also the feeling (and that is my main criticism) that despite all the Adam Bhatti's in the world. Konami does not listen to the community. One example. If you have people reading internet forums, make the game much more customizable. Lots of people are fed up with the fake second divisions in the ML. The solution is very simple: give people the option to play ML without a second division and promotion and relevation. That way you don't even need a league mode (that is the reason why i personally have been playing more and more this mode).

To be honest, while i always say that I love licenses cause i'm lazy, i don't mind if i went back to the old PS1 days where its fake teams playing great football. Or even if the only license we have left are J League (cause there's no way the Jap league will sell its license exclusively to a foreign company knocking out its own "brother". Just look at XBox360 vs PS3) and a few teams.

As long as the gameplay is great, the players are there, i can play this decent game. Of course, to the mass public, this will never work as there are so many times when I see kids asking parents to buy FIFA over PES cause it has the licenses and them calling PES "fake". But I can't blame them. imagine playing NBA2K with fake teams...People were complaining when Jordan alone wasn't licensed in the old NBA games cause his rights were too expensive and when in 2001 (when he was at wizards) he was licensed, NBA Live's sales sky-rocketed because of it.

My point is, focus on gameplay, you will get the hardcore gamers, the real football simulation lovers to buy your game, focus on licenses, you get the rest. Not a hard choice for EA nonetheless.

I fear that in the future, only Winning Eleven will be sold in Japan and no where else...

I'd rather have a catch up bug than winning because of the sole reason that my players are the fastest

Perfect.
And in any case you should try to contrast a fast player using tactics and not using a catch up cheat.

My friend, you have been vastly comforted by the past glorious PES games that the catch up bug is not necessary.
It's a cheat that take away a lot of exitement and realism from the game.
It's a shortcut.

Anyone know if Adam just meant only 20 licensed stadiums in PES 2014? Will there be any fake/generic stadiums in PES 2014 in addition to the 20 licences (if all of the 20referred to by Adam are licenced)?

It's just me or it seems Konami shows material about game taking for granted we mean it's for next two years version? :ugeek:

I hate the catch-up bug, it's one of the reasons PES 2013 is not a great game and only an average-good one.But i understand why they try to implement such "features"(as well as CPU scripting):the A.I. on current-gen consoles is simply not smart enough to use real-life tactics in order to stop faster players.

For me it's really a gamebreaker.
I can't enjoy the game with it.

Have I well understood or we won't be able to edit them too?

Adam Bhatti ‏@Adam_Bhatti 10h

@Freye74 expect around 14 real stadiums and 5/6 fake ones.

my question is....why they block the statidum edit and not the kits and player edit? ea has the licenses of teams and players too.

still got the feeling that we are not getting all truth about this edit fiasco
