PES 2014 Discussion Thread

Somebody who has contacts with Adam or anybody at Konami in UK need to let them know that they have the chance to ask the people at ec.europa.eu who deal with things like this, whether they have a case against EA. Ask Adam to forward this particular case and see if they can get a response. I'm assuming Konami's legal team already looked into it, but who knows. Worth a shot.

It is absolutely ridiculous that Konami were not willing to pony up the cash/or that EA completely lock them out. It's disgusting and completely unfair. But hopefully the game itself will meet our standards in regards to gameplay, so the loss of these features is minimized.

Sad sad day.

But can someone tell me if definitely, ON PC, ALL STADIA will be made available through modding??? I am yet to get a definite answer.

Of course.. where there is a will there is always a way

Only a matter of time

With PC anything is possible.

I've been looking into the internal files of the game since it was posted on that spanish forum, and it's pretty clear that the porting/developing process to Fox Engine was a huge one, almost nothing resembles the way the game was developed in previous years, which basically means 90% of it was done from scratch, in an unknown amount of time that can't be longer than 2 years.

It seems more than likely (and actually understandable) that they wouldn't have time to deliver a complete package yet again, and that some features would get lost in the process of prioritizing getting the basics right first, much like it happened in the transition between old-gen and current-gen, so these two statements actually have the opposite effect of what they intended, at least for me.

Not a huge deal, this stadium announcement. Some leagues in PES2013 nearly don't have any stadiums, and it doesn't stop us from enjoying them. Gameplay is always king.

I agree. I would rather Konami focus on gameplay and important stuff. Let that other garbage company (EA) waste all their money on useless licenses.

We have MODS to fix all that stuff !!!

the thing is what EA are doing sounds illegal but im sure they have amazing lawyers who can exploit loopholes and make anything legal so unfortunately for us its a case of who has the deepest pockets

:(

Oh man, this latest news is like a punch in the guts followed by a swift kick in the bollocks.

I was really enjoying reading the demo impressions from my fellow Evo-Webbers, but this news has really deflated me. I'm a bit of a stadium fetishist and enjoy the authenticity that they bring to the game. Only 20 this year is such a disappointment.

The European Monopolies Commission needs to act on this.

This is what EA does when it smells competition or is losing market share. Buy all the licenses as with NFL and NHL to kill the competition. Because lots of buyers want everything out of the box.

I disliked EA anyway but I dislike them more and more. They should not be allowed to get away with this.

I've been saying this for years. The fact is, Konami doesn't have anywhere near the resources EA does to acquire exclusive licences, never has done. Ok, Konami has upped their game recently with the Champions League and Copa Lib deals. They have tried fighting fire with fire, but when it comes to down to it, EA will always hold the upper hand.

To be honest, I saw this coming. EA have been busy signing deals with individual clubs. They are trying to lock-out the football market. I think Konami getting the exclusive on Camp Nou last year hurt them bad.

Sad times to be a gamer.

I said it in jest, but PC really will become the home of PES if EA is intent on forcing Konami out of the market. The rFactor of football games.

I hope the PC modding community really pulls together this year to give PES the content it deserves, after all, the gameplay sounds rather special.

+1

No hyping from me but from playing the demo today I have found it (when looking past all the little niggles we all know about that have been supposedly fixed in demo 2) the best PES game for years its brilliant It has its slight little annoyances but no more than pes 5/6 did in fact it not only looks superb it plays brilliant there are moments that make you think wow looks just like what i saw in a game recently

the whole stadium thing thats come out today has convinced me to start saving some pennies and investing in a gaming PC because this game is too good to stick with the limited console version I want to see it in its HD glory with kits/stadiums/chants/banners ect

Call me crazy, but when I'm playing PES my eye is on the ball.

:OOOH:

Sorry to burst your bubble here but licenses sell games. We dont represent the majority of gamers and most people dont consider that a game with fake kits plays better. The less licenses konami have the less copies they will sell the less money and resources they will have to take the series forward.

You cant mod a game that doesnt exist ;)

the demo is much to clunky and unresponsive, i feel. the big problem is player movement (especially when sprinting, R1 is so loose and your player never accelerates correctly). i love some good momentum in my game but this is just too slow, unrealistically slow

Completely agree. That how the franchise should be in the future.

But as I said before, give the modders better tools, Konami.

Please.

That so sad! Only 20 stadiums... :BRICK:

Well, I already played quite a few games and these are my impressions!

Pros:

- Animations look amazing!
- Goalkeepers, unlike people are saying I didnt had a single problem with them!
- AI, the AI really plays the game how it should, they retain the ball, and make realistic movements IMO!
- Passing, I really like the manual passing!
- Graphics look awesome!
- Pace of the game is really good for me!
- The ball is REALLY free!

Cons:
- Shooting, still don't like it!
- Menu's, are too slow!
- Responsiveness is awfull!
- Player awerness is one of my biggest complains in the DEMO so far!
- The game is too dificult for me! :P

Funny how this news is coming at the same time that Saints Row IV just reported that they have tripled sales on PC through Steam.. and are on pace for record sales. And why, because they released it on Steam Day 1, and with modding capabilities.

Guys, PES will always be around. Perhaps how they package it will have to change. But it will never die because of lack of licenses.

Exactly more than konamis diabolical PR this could seriously stunt their growth.

:(

Agree with this. Some shit seems to be going to at EA at the moment in regards tot he competition with PES. these deals sends out a message that they are genuinely worried.

EA have been getting away with releasing the same stuff year after year and tricking people with gimmicks to purchase FIFA because their tech was miles ahead. Now the tech isn't ahead anymore and Konami have a base ready for the PS4, so much so they had to limit PES 2014 on the PS3/XBOX just to fit as much as they could in.

I expect next year to be worse sadly. PES will be the main football game on PC for sure this year without a doubt.

This isn't goof for FIFA because EA will put all their effort into again, gimmicks, marketing and especially licences rather than just make a better game which we would benefit from.

I can see it now FIFA 15, THE ONLY GAME YOU CAN PLAY WITH THE EMIRATES, CAMP NOU etc... and so on. I hope we don't have a situation like with Madden where EA totally lock out all the licences, or even worse, EA start coming after PC modders for patching the game.

robben Is not in the demo

I thought Bayern were in the demo? Strange if he isn't.

Speed merchants finally gone is on my top 3 things I wanted for PES 14.

The others being overpowered throughballs and some proper manual settings. Fed up of having to block people from match lists because they chose manual passing but for then some reason still use assisted shot :CONFUSE:

If I got those 3 things, i'd happily play without rain and have a choice of about 2 stadiums as long as you could have some good online matches.

Just when you think it's on the up, cracks appear. as much as I'm looking forward to this game, doesn't fill me with much confidence that they're talking about 'next year' already with the final demo never mind full retail released yet. shocking.

EA would not be able to go after modders who mod PES; it's not their property. Only Konami would be able to do that.

I've been saying it for years... Konami should be embracing the modding community. Well, maybe not embracing, because they could be sued by the FAs. But they could at least provide top notch editing tools. Then the FAs would have to go after the individual modders. Which I don't think they would or could. There would be backlash.

It's the age old tactic from EA, isn't it? If you can't beat you're competitor for quality, try and reduce their market share via other means. It worked well for the Madden franchise even though it was comprehensively out-classed by 2k's game.

Jesus navas how did konami go from all the liga stadia and adboards at liga games to nothing in a year?

Oh yes $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Just imagine they did that with the NBA. We would never have gotten NBA 2k series. The best of the best.

Fortunately, the NBA has a policy of no exclusive deals.

And what happened.... EA got smoked !

Seems to be the case every year now. Konami really needs to hit a home run with the gameplay this year, I feel.
